He said husso needs to make one of those saves and he said that ut wasn’t on him tonight . He destroyed holl , I think him leaving his assignment and being lazy to get back to his man was the true reason
I'm so glad we don't have to sit through any more of Lalonde's post-game pressers where he's talking about all the things the team did right after a bad loss.
Yea that first goal was something a men's goalie would stop.. Husso doesn't set the tone and he doesn't give ya confidence when he faces high quality scoring chances
Rough game from the start. Defensive lapses, turnovers in our own zone, missing the net on prime chances over and over. Credit to the sharks who capitalized on the wings’ mistakes and responded quickly, but this game was ugly from the wings. Some positives to take away… more shots, far more attempts, more chances, more face offs, far more o-zone time. Gus still looked good this game and made a very slick pass off the back wall. Senko scored 2. The response against Florida is going to be very telling of who this team really is and where they’re going. Don’t need to win it, but have to show that we can play with the best teams in the league. LGRW.
Really glad you mentioned Kasper giving up on that Sturm goal. That moment stood out to me too. I was very disappointed to see that. Hopefully that doesn't become a regular occurrence.
True, but as alawys it is so strange that noone calls out Chiarot for his terrible decisions, example being stuck in in the right face off circle while Celebrini walks up on the left side and delivers the cross pass.... AND Chiarot should at least cover Eklund at that side, but fails miserably with everything. He plays hard, but he doesn't get where to be...
Husso is done, too many soft goals on each occasion on the ice. I know they felt this game was to be a confidence builder, but he started off like a clown four shots two goals. It never got better. Yikes!!
Someone told me the wings had this one in the bag. I responded with, a team searching for a win is a dangerous animal. Todd stipulated how he wanted a practice to address weaknesses observed during the onslaught against Seattle. It was evident he was right on. The wings mimicked old familiar from the old regime. It will take time. The peeling of an onion for the team to establish a new familiar that Todd is here to establish.
Anyone know whether or not the pro scouts have been replaced. If someone recommended to Yzerman to sign Holl and Copp should not be working in pro scouting.
Husso just needs to go. Letting in early (or late period) goals just demoralizes the team. If they need help until Lyon is fully healthy bring up Cossa, heck take him on the road trip, it'd be a growth/bonding experience!
The team looked noticeably shakier in front of Husso (like always) and it’s time to stop acting like that’s a coincidence. It’s impossible to play a good game when you’re scared any shot at any speed from anywhere is gonna go in the net. Its time to move on
Last year the Sharks started the Wings long losing streak when they scored 6-7 goals. I have a bad feeling this will happen again considering who they will be playing.
Bad luck Husso, and I get other goalies would have let some of those goals in, but Campbell, cossa, Talbot or Lyon could have made an amazing save and kept them in the game. Husso don’t got the clutch factor
Tarasenko looks bewildered and pissed. Someone should have clued him in on the script to lose. Major flags go off when Pros commit nono's like I was taugh in mites.
You can call out Husso and Holl all day, but Chiarot was the minus two and has been dragging down Seider, no matter what the underlying stats say. He's such a terrible defenseman. Can't wait until he's gone. Time to end the Husso experiment and see if Jack Campbell can stop a beach ball, because Husso clearly can not.
Realty check, the defense was bad and we're back to missing the net on prime scoring opportunities. If this continues this will be a good year to trade veterans.
Those of you blaming Husso, yes he needs to be better than that but the team is BRUTAL in front of him defensively. Holl turnovers were BRUTAL, shorthanded breakaway was BRUTAL, wide open backdoor pass was BRUTAL. Husso needed to get his confidence and be eased back into the NHL, Holl hangs him out to dry a minute into the game. Yes it seems like he is cursed at this point and probably needs a change of scenery, but putting it all on him is just stupid. People always say he lets in softies but I didn't see any softies, obviously you hope he saves one or two of those but the team hung him out to dry on every goal.
@@danb239 he absolutely was hung out to dry, but also a low speed wrister from above the hash marks with no traffic in front, that's a softie. Both of these things can be true
@captbloodbeard There was some traffic, and he made a point blank save right before that. He definitely wasn't expecting it to go from Holl's stick directly to the other team right in front of the net. Also happend like a minute into the game, Husso has struggled in the NHL, nerves high and confidence low. Team needs to to a better job in front of him so he can get his confidence back. Not saying he is perfect by any means but that was even worse than how they played under Lalonde. This fanbase blaming the loss entirely on him is stupid. Mclellan even said they didn't lose the game because of goaltending.
Give Husso the “he needs a change of scenery” bus ticket and cut our “losses”. If you demote him to the minors, he’s just blocking an actual goalie from getting experience. Bring Augustine or Cossa up for the four game swing and give them a game and leave Hossa at home IF you don’t cut him outright. I think Todd was way too easy on Husso with “he could have made one save and I don’t know which one” or the “this wasn’t on the goaltending” attempted to cover up a disgusting job by Husso! If you know he doesn’t have it, cut your darn losses! Geez!
Husso is bad, can we stop with the defense let them down? three of the five goals should have been stopped with out any doubt, I played goal for 16 years and your pads do not go of the ice in close quaters when facing a shot. It was a major deal to let shots go through you or anywhere through your five hole. The only way the wings can win with Husso is if they score 4-5 goals because he sucks.
Yeah, Kasper had a brutal game too. For someone that usually displays such a high level of compete and motor, to see him give up multiple times this game was very jarring.
Costly loss because every team Detroit is fighting for a playoff slot won or got points last night. From here on in every game every point is crucial. The Wings could end up looking back at their two losses against San Jose as the reason they miss the playoffs again
ALL THE HUSSO HATE IS LAZY!!! Its easy to always blame the goalie. You cannot blame the coach or the goalie for everything. Players are accountable here. The defense is not that good besides Seider and Edvinsson. And they are still young and learning. The big off season move to get a top defensemen fell thru so we have to be patient. People just want a quick fix to something that will take time whether they like it or not. Whether we make the playoffs or not does not change the fact we need better players on defense.
How bout firing the puck around the boards to weak side in the ozone seemed scripted to turn the puck over. It takes a person who has played at this level to see what most are oblivious.
Husso stinks, not crazy about Talbot either. Lyon's the best they have, if doesn't play most of the games they're not making the playoffs. How many years in the minors does ASP have to play before Yzerman figures out he can play at the NHL level? Answer at least 5.Just like Cossa & Augustine. As soon as I saw Husso was in goal I knew they were not winning. Hope that's not the 2 pts that costs a playoff spot🤷🏻♂
Dude, rushing dmen and especially goalies is a great way to ruin them. ASP isn't even in the minors yet. He chose to stay in Sweden, the kid is still just 19 years old and everyone, including him, feels he still has more to learn where he is. Cossa is ready to get some reps in at the NHL level, but not to take over as a starter or anything, so at least in GR he's getting the majority of the games. Totally agree that I'd rather have him called up than Husso after Lyon's injury, I think he's earned it and the results would likely have been far better tonight. But Husso has played very well in GR lately, and the team wants to get rid of him so they probably figured to showcase him in an easy game, if he does well they maybe get someone to take him off our hands. Didn't work though. As for Augustine, he's still in college, and dominating as a 19 year old. That's good, he's learning and improving, but to think that he should be rushed up to the NHL next year is stupid. Goalies take lots of reps to develop into starters, and you don't want to go shattering their confidence. That's a great way to ruin them. There is nothing even remotely suspect about the development timetables for any of the players you mentioned.
Goaltending was why they lost. Period. They did not give up the amount of quality chances that would cause a goalie to give up 5 goals. A competent goalie gives up 2 or 3 goals in this game. The first 2 goals allowed were stoppable and Husso didn’t stop either.
I loved McLellan calling out Husso's and Holl's poor play.

Same with me
With Husso in net, this was expected.
Guys don’t play at their best when they can’t trust their goalie to make saves. Husso needs to go, I’d rather see Campbell or Cossa at this point

Just gonna add this here; it’s time to knock it tf off with the Jared Goff chants. Enough is enough.
The longer a win streak goes on, the worse it feels when it's snapped. Let's see how McLellan and the team handle this.
Husso and holl should never be in an nhl line-up

Holl had a douzy night.
Holl has done nothing since arriving here. When does his gift of a contract end?
doozie
The Sharks targeted Holl and he coughed the puck up
The team has no trust in husso and it shows everytime.
Watching left handed shooter's on the left side of the net during a power play will always be ineffective.
