I seriously believe there is an argument Datsyuk is the best hockey player ever. Best defensive forward ever, best stick handler, best at deking, most creative player, probably the best at puck protection, one of the best backhands ever. Gretzky's mind and playmaking is what set him apart, but if anyone rivals him in those areas it's Datsyuk. McDavid also has that mind and playmaking, his speed with the puck and stick handling at top speed is crazy though. Wonder what would happen if prime Datayuk took on McDavid in a playoff series. Would Datsyuk be able to handle his speed and defend against him? Those 2 are the most skilled players ever IMO but Datsyuk's defense on top of those offensive skills is my argument for him being the best ever. Bobby Orr is definitely in that conversation as well.

I think the decision to retire a jersey comes from ownership, meanwhile not using a player's jersey in an "unofficial retirement" comes out of respect from inside the locker room rather than ownership being like "they deserve unofficial, but not official retirement."

They didn't dominate anything. In the 2 games against Toronto and New York they were out hit 48-19 and outscored 7-1. Perimeter shots don't mean anything . They don't score any greasy goals. They are way too soft and slow.

I said last year they are outscoring problems… exciting but when that comes back to earth it will deceive everyone…. And here we are. A bubble WC team that needs a lot to go right. Rebuild continues and it time to make a change either behind the bench or a significant trade for depth for a fresh effort.

It may be more interesting to listen to the Valenti Show with Rico. Why? Because Valenti himself will not hold back and say what fans are thinking about the Wings. You have winners on the roster like Kane and Terasenko. But tell me if you think anybody is wondering why players like Seider and Raymond, especially Seider himself, are making all that money and are not delivering? I'd like to see if those who continue to defend Seider's play on the ice can excuse him once again for a blown assignment, basically costing the Wings any chance at tieing the Rangers, when the $8.55 million dollar man mistakenly left the puck near the Wings blue line for a wandering Rangers' Tavares who took Seider's mistake and turned it into the Rangers' third goal, all but destroying any chance for the Wings to get back in the game. All you Seider fans have what excuse for your beloved Mo Seider this time? Could it be that a blown assignment happened once again because Mo Seider is playing over 22 minutes of hockey, more than anybody on the Wings roster? Wrong answer again. Yes, it's understandable that Seider is out there playing an eternity of minutes, but even if he wasn't, he is not a game changer, he is not playing like a star player. Translation: he should not be making $8.55 mil a year playing without the luxury of being a well rounded player on offense and defense. Do any of the naysayers and defenders of the $8.55 million dollar man, Mo Seider, have any solutions or even suggestions on Seider not destroying the Wings' chances to obtain points in a game? Look, Seider isn't the only reason fans are scratching their heads and booing the Wings' either from LCA Arena or from their TV sets in the comfort of their own homes. But, Seider does have the most lucrative contract currently on the roster at $8.55 million per year, does he not? With that kind of money paid, there are no excuses. Results matter, and huge salaries like these do not guarantee a trip to the playoffs. Are the Seider loyalists still naysaying? That will not bring us a successful Wings team.

It was very frustrating weekend we do allot better and lose lol - no let’s get it All at once next 22 ish games means allot we need to have a good run outta next 25 games we need to win 15 ish and get pints at least in some others - but watching how many shots on next some players are getting but just not putting it in besides a few - we needed a good one or two 2nd slash 1st liners even 3rd at times once they have 3 lines that other teams have to match she a 4th line that would be dangerous in a way too - hope I am wrong love kasper and hope here starts scoring soon 😊

Plenty of Detroit fans were calling for AJ Hinch's job this year until they went on a crazy, historic run to make the playoffs. Dan Campbell lost the first 8 games of his tenure and everyone wanted him fired.

There will be one game (hopefully very soon) where Razor, Bergy and Kaspar will all score hatricks. The amount of posts and bars we've hit is ridiculous.

This entire team hinges on a 29 year old captain who will start to decline just as ASP/MBN make the team. Kane will be gone and 0 elite talent in the prospect pool.

When the best teams in the league, they don't usually play their best hockey. The Wings are the best team when the better teams let them be the best team. This team will finish 7th in the Atlantic, and that is where they should finish based on the talent on this team. The defense is AHL level!

Why do the Rangers and Leafs think they were outplayed and their goalies saved them? But comments about Detroit are negative to a great degree. NY and TO fans are criticizing their own poor play, and that they can't keep winning by always depending on their goalie. The other teams get bad opportunities and score. Detroit can't bury the puck. How many open nets has Copp missed.? The Wings look good and many players are getting better or adjusting. But bad luck is bad luck. For example Seider double taps the back past against NY. You know how that feels right! Or maybe you have not?
