    Damn...It's one thing to have a great rig like that, but Shawn's playing is just so CLEAN! Every note has conviction and clarity.

    I play my guitar through stereo at home (it's wonderful with headphones on)
    But his comment about real world applications got me thinking!
    He's totally spot on, and i thank him for shining the light on it.
    Wow that was the best guitar tip i've had in years :)

    Coolest people on the planet right here. (Rips sixteenth note runs on the Rat and blows my mind) I'm thinking, man that was mind blowing and he hears 'the guitar is out of tune'. ..while I'm still catching my breath from those effortless runs. What a superb musician!

    You can change mono to stereo by adding a track copying and pasting the audio file changing one track to left, the other to right and by joining them together thereby creating a brand new stereo file.

    I use my Quint Machine exactly how he uses his Octaland. It's an "always on" pedal for me and when just barely on it just enriches the sound to my ear. For my actual octave sound I use the Beetronics Vezzpa and ZzomBee. Those things are both awesome.

      @@ShawnTubbs Ha! Well if you ever get a chance to try out the T-Rex Quint Machine I HIGHLY recommend that thing. They're only like $130 and they seriously enrich the sound of your tone as well. I have different drives on my board for the different guitars I use but I keep it on with an Archer, Dude, Fatbee, Touch, TS9, Mudhoney, and Alberta. T-Rex pedals are awesome in general actually.

    Im right there with Shawn on having a Rat (well Rat circuit anyway) on my board to put me into a different mind set and way of playing over my usual style. Shawns tone is just perfect all around. His clean, slightly overdriven, and medium gain tones are what i hear in my head. I missed the part about what 2 amps hes using, but i need to look into those.

      @@ShawnTubbs completely captivating rig rundown ! In spite of you not being a big stereo fan this was so fun to listen to in the headphones. Everytime you swiveled in your chair to engage another smidge of drive the tone was pure bliss. I have been running multiple amps for years. Mostly because I was never in love with any one of my amps alone. But paired up something happens to the texture of the hair..and to the cleans too. After I watched this I pulled out my old dormant RAT and and reconnected. Much to my surprise I found keeping the gain really low and goosing the volume made it very amplike and touch sensitive. Big respect for you and your entire approach so inspirational !

    l watched Eric and Stevie when they were locals in Tx at place called Tango's once or twice a month. Both of them learned from each other. SRV would use a fender 80 watt twin w/ a jbl 15 for his lead tone and a Marshall 100watt for clean. Eric did the opposite.

  • @LaminarSound

    For a record, even when you want the same guitar part or line to be stereo, you record the same part twice and hard pan. Sean is correct, its almost always useless to record in the studio in stereo. Even live, its mostly a wash.

    Want to hear some amazing guitar work from this guy, listen to the first The Violent Burning album he played on with his brother playing bass. Unfortunately, you can’t find it anywhere, but I own the CD from the 90s. Incredible volume swells, spooky echo, incredible Stratocaster tone. This guy is absolutely amazing.
    Here’s a track with a little bit of that;

      @davidbrucemusicvideo ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ShawnTubbs Big fan, Shawn.. And yeah, I totally forgot to mention Lonnie! Interestingly enough, I kind of forgot that he was the drummer, as I mainly focus on Michael’s melodies, your brother’s bass lines, and your work on the Strat and Acoustic.
      So thanks for the reminder, because Lonnie’s drum sounds on that album are amazing. Crystal clear. Strength is one of my favorite albums, and I listen to tons of different stuff. I play music full-time for a living as a multi instrumentalist/looping artist, usually about 200 shows a year for the last 25 or so years. For a while, I even started covering “Eleanor, Rigby“ because of this album.
      Super cool, talking to you, man.
