8:33 The reason why the timestamp is here, and I’m glad TH-cam is doing this now, it’s because I wanted to point out something to you. Lower the volume of your pen friend before making a recording, or afterward. Your recording seems like you’re way too close to the microphone of the pen friend, however, that could just be because the volume is at its highest setting. so far, what you’re describing is on my pen friend, too. What I’m looking for, is how to work with the date calendar on the wall, and the date book which should’ve come in the pen from through box.
7:00 The box should’ve came with some elastic bands, and long strips of plastic, kind of like a bookmark. these bookmarks have holes at either end, and those holes are made to loop through the band before putting a label tag on the bookmark paper. Of course. you don’t want the whole Bookmarx thing on your product, so cut it just below the whole, you have used the loop through the band. Remember to look at both ends of the band, so that you can stretch band around the product. those two ends are easy, but even more bookmarks can be made by cutting the bookmark paper… Yes, with scissors… Punching a hole with a hole punch, and then attaching a label day. again, use another elastic band, remembering to loop both ends through the hole. This will make the band into a rubber band shape, so you can stretch it around your product. You can reuse product label that way, not having to throw it away later. just remember to take the band of the product before you throw the box or other thing away, if it’s that kind of thing.
there is a "rubber band talking tag' available in many outlets including Maxiaids. When there is a large object like a cereal carton, just wrap it with rubber band tag and talk into the washable regid plastic tag. These are designed to easily find the sound spot unlike the talking label.
Thank you for responding to my prior question about using headphones. I have one more inquiry. As mentioned, I am a board and card gamer. I would need to put the stickers on cards. Will shuffling damage the stickers because of friction, etc?
Save up a stash of plastic bread sack closure tags. As friends to save them for you! Put a rubber band in the slot, and tape the end so it won’t slide off. Put a sticker on the tag and record it. Place the rubber band around any object, such as a jar or can. You can then throw the empty jar or can away and still have a recorded tag for your new item.
Hi just received one of these today for my husband and found your video so I can teach my husband to use it. This video was very helpful thank you so much. I am not blind myself what if he is unable to see where the label is do the labels stick out a little so it can be felt what position it is in thanks so much. Watching all the way from England. Xx
Hi Leanne and thanks for watching! The stickers are indeed tactile so he should be able to find them no problem. So glad the vide was useful. Luke on our team is also from England (Yorkshire to be exact) and is glad to see a fellow English person is enjoying our videos!

Hello. This is a great video. Thank you for posting it. I do have a question about Pen Friend 3 or any of the prior versions. I am a blind board an card gamer. I can play most games with sighted assistance. However, I cannot play games with hidden information; poker is an example of these types of games. The Pen Friend would be a great product to help with this limitation, but it would only work if there is a headphone plug. Does the Pen Friend 3 or others work with headphones?
Hi did you say or did I misunderstand that the maximum number of labels is 250? I’m thinking I’ll get this to label all my CD collection plus all my records and so on. The total of this will be much more than 250! Thanks
Hey, it's not 250 labels but rather 250 hours of recording, which is a lot more than 250 labels! You should be fine labeling all your records and CDs :-)
i'll be looking forward to receiving my pen friend. now i can label my food products, and i won't have to ask if i have the strawberry banana yogurt or plain strawberry.
I have just upgraded my wifes Penfriend 3 to 16gb , now there are no sounds, the manufacturer says I need to install a subdir for this but cannot find a link to download it. Can you help
Hey Mike, sorry but that's nothing that we would have. You would have to ask the manufacturer where to download it from. You can contact them here www.penfriendlabeller.com/contact-us
A suggestion for Penfriend 4 you should add a barcode reader. I am not totally blind. I am legally blind very very low Vision. So when I look at a product on the shelf that’s fine. My problem is I can’t see the price tags so if you had a barcode reader on it cause everyone of those labels have barcodes on them for the prices, You could tap that barcode and then have the penfriend say the price and any other information under that barcode back to you. so you can take your pen on the go. You all stay blessed like I know you are!!! ❤️📖🙏🏻❤️!!!
@@mantralingua2011 Thank you. I knew this already, but it’s nice to have a reminder. Also, where can you obtain the date book and calendar for a walk? From the research that I did previously, these are tactile and audio for pen friend. A date place in the calendar is also a place in the date book. That is the main reason why I want a pen, friend free. Also, I tried signing up on their website, but I have not gotten an email back yet. I use John, job access with speech, on my computer screen reader. Said computer uses Windows 10, so if you also use jaws on your PC, can you please walk me through how to sign up for an account on the pen friend website? Thank you,
@@VisionForwardTechConnect Hi, to pause just quickly press the power button. To play again, press quickly the power button again, If you press and hold down the power button for about 2 seconds, then the pen will switch off.
I am still looking for those calendars, as they could have come in the box with your pen, friend, III. That way, you don’t need to waste the magnets that came with it. The calendars are tactile in nature, which means that you can actually feel a little circles for the date and the appointment time. The circles allow you to be guided to the appropriate date and time of your appointment. From what I have learned, as I am wanting to be something in the special education field, is that pen friend III is supposed to work like this. Say I have the following appointment, on January 30, 2022. Masters, comprehensive final exam, 9 AM. If I had a pen friend, III, I would load that on January 30 of 2023 in the appropriate slot for the appointment. Going to the date book. Then, I would find the same set of circles for that date and time, looking at them both with a pen friend, The pen friend will report the exact message that I recorded on the wall calendar in the notebook, automatic with synchronize with the wall calendar, even though the date book had never been touched before.
This product was discontinued due to insufficient sales and needing large development costs for a seasonal product. The days belonging to dates keep changing year on year
@@VisionForwardTechConnect Inside the box, there is a sticker attached to the tray. It has a unique number for your PENfriend. Follow the instructions and register. it takes less than a minute.

Hi, nice idea but we don't make the Penfriend, we just made a video on it :-)
Good idea, but there are too many products with barcodes. You would need a very huge memory going into terabytes.
5:53 pan. A friend to also cuts off one of you speak immediately after the tone for recording.
Hi Ashleigh, Just pause for about 1 to 2 secs before speaking. Taht way you won't lose the top (or tail) of the recording.
