- Josh McCuistion joins Gabe Ikard and Teddy Lehman to talk about OU recruiting including the Sooners 2022 recruiting class (26:01). We give the latest updates on OU’s coaching staff (3:20). In the “National College Football Roundup,” we discuss the biggest CFB news from this week: Bryce Young won the Heisman, Army-Navy & Dan Lanning to Oregon (1:00:21). Gabe and Teddy give their “Winners/Losers of the Weekend:” Tom Brady, Urban Meyer, OU basketball & the Las Vegas Raiders (1:18:53).

Hey guys. I watch a lot of coverage of OU sports, especially Football. The opinions of former players, you two in particular, is always more trustworthy than the opinions of “amateur” observers. I really like the balance that you two bring. You’re the best.

I'm impressed that you guys addressed the Baylor situation. I agree that it's good that Joe C made a statement about Baylor and Lebby. The worst thing would be to just ignore it because it's not respectable to the victims.

Just want to see LBU label to come back to OU...miss LBs like Lehman and Calmus
The new Staff is an upgrade, particularly due to the new director of operations and Schmitty. In particular, Schmidt is a massive upgrade in S&C. Lincoln Riley was a good "sweet talk" recruiter, like Mac Brown, Venables is a "straight talk" recruiter, more like Bob Stoops. By the way, Aaron Donald is a 6'1", 285 inside guy, and he's the best in the game. IMO, its a good move that the new staff is paying a bit more attention to Oklahoma kids, you want guys that grew up rooting for OU as a core, makes a difference in culture, IMO.
Your not wrong. Local kids have always balled out for OU. something about playing for the team you grew up rooting for is just different.

@@soonerstone80 One next year in the last year of the big 12, and then hope to compete and be strong and competitive in the SEC. But winning the conference championship every year, hardly. What I DO expect is for OU to not be embarrassed and whipped every week at the LINE OF SCRIMMAGE.

The Clemson fanbase on the reddit college football subreddit, seem to all say that Turnipseed is a greater loss to Clemson than the OC and AD they lost. Should tell you something.
All the shit at Baylor was the higher ups at the school not doing things and the head coach. Assistannts especially passing game coordinators don't have much pull when it comes to player discipline.. OU fans need to stop being idiots he hired the best OC in the country.
I felt like Ted Roof was a guy who would be more okay with being second fiddle than a big name with more ego and image to manage.
I didn't really know who he was, but having learned a little about him, I couldn't agree more. There seems to be a method here, and I am liking it more and more.

I don't mind the Ted Roof hire because you're right. It does mean Venables will have a heavy hand over that defense. Nick Saban meticulously oversees Alabama's defense, and they win championships.
But Nick has Ex NFL head coaches while we have to pick up someone like Ted Roof.

Gabe forgot to mention that in the first lap of the race that Max made a beautiful passing move on one of the turns and Lewis went off the track and was not penalized. Lewis should of been penalized. That's how Lewis was winning the race for the majority of the race. I was so happy to see Hamilton get beat

When I saw Thad Turnipseed's name I thought it said Thad Turnpissed. I have no clue why I thought that's what it said.
I like Jake Taylor because his last name is my first name. The second reason is because when Lincoln became HC at USC, he called Jake and tried recruiting him to USC. Jake told him no and has since said he's not opening up his recruiting to anyone especially USC. He said that he was told when going through the recruiting process to commit to a school not a coach because coaches aren't always going to be there, the school will though. I love that he stood his ground and is coming to OU.
I thought Jake Taylor was a catcher then manager for the Cleveland Indians.... .

I think F1 made the correct call. Lewis was asking his team for new tires for many laps prior to the ending. It seems only controversial because of the stakes involved. Any other race and it all good. Just my opinion. I am no expert. 😉

I absolutely do! I believe you become wiser with experience and age. I have also grown sick to my stomach watching him leave (fans basically running him out of town) only to go to Clemson and become a giant slayer!

A good mix of in state and key skill position players from out of state, You want the ride or die in state players on your team from a loyalty aspect, but the occasional super QB or QR, DT, whatever, from out of state can help to mesh the team together,

We don't need a big name defensive coordinator. We need a competent defensive play caller. Venables will be heavily involved in the defense.

I thought the rule in racing was that you cannot change your position when the car is out. If the cars in between 1 and 2 had been lapped, he wasn’t changing his position by moving up. He always remained in second place.

I've been thinking about Lebby.
I've been seeing a lot of praise and stat comparisons of his offense compared to OUrs in the last 2 years. While many tout how they have better yards, people seem to ignore the points statistic. His ppg were lower than ours.
A bunch of yards are great and all, but it's points that win football games.. My memory is vague, but I think the highest his offense scored was 31? Given that his ppg was lower, and his yards were high, that would seem to suggest that his offense can travel down the field effectively, but have trouble in the redzone.
Maybe I'm splitting hairs. I'm just going to keep my expectations tempered. Just like the preseason, when a bunch of my fellow OU fans were drinking the Kool-aid and saying that we were going to make it to the NC.
Perhaps. The counter to tgat is he's playing against much better defenses and in at least half his games each season he's operating at a talent disadvantage with Ole Miss.

F1 doesn't make sense witg a sooners or oklahona breakdown. Who would read the title the oklahoma breakdown and think wow I'm gonna hear about F1. This is quirky to the least. As long as it is at the end of the segment then it's OK lol.

As long as ou football and ou sports are top billing I'm good. Men's bb and women's bb are fun to watch. Women's softball is a JUGGERNAUT! Alo is close to all tine HR record. Please have her and chamberlain on when she breaks it. If the athletes are allowed. I don't know what the rules for student athletes are with regards to appearing on podcasts
