BLACKPINK is the biggest girl group of all time, with 307 music awards, it is the most awarded girl group in all history and this past July 4, 2023 they were the main artists at the HYDE PARK festival in London with 65k tickets sold (sold out), being the first kpop act to headline the festival in all of history, the amazing thing is that they only have 38 songs and 7 years of music career.
I would say that BP is arguably the biggest kpop girl group of all time. You really have to give the crown to The Spice Girls, who sold over 100 million worldwide (I think their 3rd album sold 23 million). Of course it's a bit unfair to compare sales of songs in English to songs in Korean - that's not taking anything away from BP, who have done amazing things.

Also, as much as I do Stan BP let’s be realistic when comparing the quantity of music awards given out. There are literally dozens of award shows every year in multiple countries that hand out these awards for the same song.

Blackpink was originally going to be a 9 member group. But members were eliminated throughout training and these 4 seemed to mesh the best. Also, their predecessor group, 2NE1, also had four members.
Well, there were a lot of trainees and a 9-member group was one possibility. But the exact number was never a definite thing. In the process, the company just keeps trying out different things with different combinations and different numbers of members until they get to something that they think works really well. As you correctly point out the result of that process was Blackpink, a 4-member group consisting of Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa.

They only have 40 songs but their level and quality is so superior that that alone is enough to become the biggest girl group in history.

I am fan, big fan of blackpink. I got to see them live twice this past year and they’re very strong live performers and so professional. I honestly first fell in love with the girls and their personalities before I got through their discography, they have a special place in my heart

Don't know why exactly is 4 members... Miyeon (now G-Idle member) was the last trainee eliminated before their debut. But in the Blackpink doc in Netflix, they said the combination of these 4, was the best one. But also, YG (their company) has another girl group before them that also had 4 members. It kind of works in terms of making the faces of the group be known, because it's much easier to remember each one of them, easier to memorize for the general public.
In 2022, TIME magazine named BLACKPINK as: ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR and they are the first girl group in history to headline the cover of TIME magazine.

There are several reasons why blackpink only has 4 members. firstly because they were the trainees who most connected as a group. yge also wanted to filter as much as possible to have the most talented trainees in the group. and also because yge always had gg with few members, like swi.t with 3 members and 2ne1 with 4 members

IMO, u should start "for the beginning". Boombayah is a good one. Whistle is the first. Kill this love and how you like that are crazy good. The "newer stuff" like Pink venom and Shut down are great aswell. But my favourite songs from them are the slower ones. Stay, Happies girl, etc. I should try any of those :D

May I suggest another all lady band, “The Warning” they are a Mexican rock band formed in 2013 by the Villarreal Vélez sisters: Daniela, Paulina, and Alejandra. They are a great live band that has opened for Muse, Halestorm, Guns and Roses, and The Foo Fighters. Metallica invited them to cover Enter Sandman for their Blacklist album and made it the #1 song on the album. Any song from the Teatro Metropolitan CDMX 08/29/2022 concert would be a great start, I love Animosity and for an acoustic try Revenant. Thank you.

I think it is a little bit funny that you went in complete reverse chronological order while reacting to these songs. That's perfectly okay, there is no storyline to have to worry about with these ladies.
'Whistle' and 'Boombayah' were both BLACKPINK's debut songs, released on the same day. 'Whistle' is the group's one-and-only music video where a green screen and cgi were used (that scene will be obvious when you see the MV). ALL of the rest of their MVs have used 100% actual physical practical sets but people might even think that CGI was used for some tings because the company's level of Movie Magic just kept improving.
In 'Kill This Love', Rose' was the Blonde that you noticed but she was the Redhead in '4D' (she had the solo bridge of the song) and she had the Dark Brown hair in 'As If It's Your Last'. She had Blonde hair (and the Green dress as she slid along the floor) in 'Boombayah' and because it was the same era, she also had Blonde hair in 'Whistle'. :)

Actually the reason they only have four members in their band is because when their training was going on it was a group of nine members and five of them made it at the final lineup miyeon she is now in g idle and she fits their so beautifully but she was gonna be in this group to but she was caught dating someone and kicked out of y g e that's why from nine members blackpink is only left with 4 members and the other four members who did not made it to the final line up are now in different groups

Having triggered Blinks, you are now likely to be overwhelmed with info and opinions! lol Just to suggest a perspective, it seems to me that two factors stand out in understanding BP. First, they are a product of YG. Second, 3 of the 4 (other than Jisoo) are at least somewhat multinational and, in particular, speak english practically as natives. Being a product of YG means that they were first selected in stringent audition processes and then spent years as young trainees. Lisa, for example, was the only one of 4000 applicants to be chosen at an audition in Thailand. She was 13. It also means that BP always had top-tier backing and resources. You only have to look at the videos and listen to the quality of the recordings to see that. Having an exceptional amount of comfort communicating (and singing/rapping!) in english means BP always had an unusually strong ability to reach out to western audiences. More recently, I believe it has been a huge consideration as BP has 'conquered America' in the Pink Venom era. Finally, we see both these factors at play as the members have recently reached the end of their initial contracts with YG and, I think, begin to come into their own as independent young women emerging from under the YG umbrella. I wouldn't think that it is easy for them to finally begin to leave their long-time professional home, and we've recently seen specific instances of Lisa and Jenny making choices for their personal and artistic expression that have had harsh consequences! I certainly wish them well.
