"she doesn't normally rap" actually miss Jennie Kim is the main rapper of the group but she's also part of the vocal line that's why she doesn't get as much rap parts as Lisa but her verses are always iconic

This reaction is literally me listening to blackpink. I’m not into bubblegum pop so I was so HAPPY to find out that all their music were just hits after hits. Their live performances are so good ESPECIALLY their entire Tokyo dome concert and award show performances. The girl with the bangs has some of the most amazing dance skills + stage presence I’ve ever seen.

They have two type of sounds/songs, Black for more hard hitting songs like "How You Like That" and Pink for more softer sounds like "Love Sick Girls." You seem to like their harder songs more so I suggest "DDU-DU DDU-DU" (btw when letters are doubled like DD is supposed to represent a Capitalized letter because in the Korean language (Hangul) they don't have chaptalization but when it gets translated to English they want to emphasize it), "Pretty Savage" (there is no MV), "BOOMBAYAH" and "Whistle."

I LOVE how they are a combination of pop, rap and EDM. That's what drew me in the most. I was naive about Kpop and thought it was bubblegum pop in korean but when I heard these girls, I was BLOWN AWAY.

She’s soooo versatile! She’s the main rapper of the group (for a reason!) and also such an important vocalist for them. You’ll see her sing A LOT. She’s truly amazing. The whole group is incredible, I love them 4. I’m excited for you to discover more from them. Highly recommend “A Crack Guide to Blackpink 2020” and “The Revolution: A Story of Blackpink”. Blackpink is legit. I just got into K-pop this past August and they were my first journey. They're all amazing in their own right, but Jisoo's and Rose's vocals always stood out to me. Lisa is a top tier rapper and dancer in 3rd Gen and K-pop in general. Jisoo's personality and vocal tone ended up stealing my heart and she became my bias. She's so damn goofy off stage. You're not wrong about the song length. K-pop songs are definitely shorter than a lot of Western songs. Contacts, wigs, and dyed hair are incredibly popular.
I'd feel remiss not shamelessly plugging my current favorite group as a potential reaction candidate. They are a 7 member girl group called Dreamcatcher. Debuted in 2017. They are known for their darker concepts (serious, dystopian, and/or spooky) and for being the only groups that incorporates rock elements into all of their title tracks in some manner. Their earlier sound was heavily influenced by J-rock/pop. As time went on, their rock sound matured and they began mixing/blending in other genres. Almost all of their songs/MVs are story driven. Some storylines span multiple MVs and some are standalone. Amazing vocalists (even their 2 rappers). Their main rapper has a very unexpected vocal tone that a lot of people like. They are easily one of the most unique groups you'll discover in K-pop. If I were to suggest some good starter songs they would be:
- "BEcause" - Most recent title track. Spooky. MV, story, and choreo have influences from the movie "Us".
- "Scream" - First song in a trilogy addressing anonymous harassment and the affect it can have on the victims.
- "Deja Vu" - Their only slower title track. The visuals in this one are absurd. The sets and symbolism are immaculate.
