This is refreshing; one watering time does not fit all. Just out of curiosity; would you recommend timing how long it takes to apply a half inch of water throughout each season of the year? A buddy of mine was telling me that it takes longer to apply a half an inch in the Summer than it does in the Spring and Fall due to evaporation? My perspective says that watering early in the morning prevents that from happening...but I could be wrong? "
But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.” - John 4:14

I had irrigation installed and did a renovation last fall. What I’ve learned is that irrigation simply makes having a nice yard through the summer possible. It’s only a tool. I’m constantly looking for dry spots and adjusting heads as necessary to improve the coverage. I’m able to trust my rain sensor so far where I will let it delay watering when we get rain, but that doesn’t mean I ignore the yard.
I love these videos Pete. You’ve taught me so much about lawn care!

Pete, I like your videos and I have learned a lot. but, where I live water is expensive and only people who are doing really well can afford to water their lawn, with that being said I know that my tall fescue is going to go dormant during the heat of the summer here in southern Illinois so the only thing we can do is keep cutting our lawns really tall and hope it will make it through until winter and the next spring.

Hi Pete, I find at my place I get constant sun no shade. I have fescue and a blend cool season everywhere else. I find I can’t put enough water on my lawn in the summer. I probably water up to 3 inches a week or more in some spots and I still get dry spots and heat stress. I have a pond that has a pump in it that I use for hoses and irrigation. I feel blessed to have that pond and free water. I water as much as I can. Take care.

I have found it best to water late evening/ early night because my grass stays wet all night anyways, seems to my my lawn is greener if I just water at night and let it dry up during the day. For the last 5 years of early morning watering I see better results at watering at night and far as syringing I haven't seen it make a difference. I've tried that too. But I love you Pete! How do you base how much water to give during the week if you don't know how much rain you're going to get on the weekend? If you're watering let's say two times a week and you give .5 in. on Tuesday and suppose to give another .5 on Friday but instead it's going to rain on Sunday and you get 2 inches, do you just restart your Tuesday and Friday waterings the Tuesday after it just rained 2 inches? Or do you kind of move your days around so I should really water on Wednesday since we just got 2 inches 3 days before and bounce around that idea depending on the forecast? TIA

What keeps me from watering it a lot more is the busy body city ordnance people enforcing water restrictions. They want us to only water once a week. Sounds like God a socialist. Making his son pay for your sins. What ever happened to personal responsibility.

Great comment friend. We tend to leave out the fact that at ANY point Jesus could have easily removed Himself from the cross. He willingly stayed on the cross and willingly died for your sin and my sin. This is called "love"...God is not a socalist...LOL. I am very responsible for my actions. But since i can not live up to God's holy standards I/we need a savior...Jesus.

If your house is within 328 ft of your shed, you can definitely run Ethernet. Otherwise you would need to run fiber which is $$$. I would still recommend doing the point to point link. If you want some more specific advice let me know and I’d be happy to email you and help you out!

We spray our greens fairways. No more thn 5 days at a time. Fungicide back pack sprays are very very important with wetting agents
