    We have the same entries in our top 4, even though in a different order! I agree that these 4 are on a level above others.
    Inspo's NQ for me is the biggest crime of the year. It seems, Latvians like to rob my favourites, last year they ignored the Coco'nuts in favour of "He, She, You and Me" and now we don't Inspo in the final, but we have "Love Vibes".
    Anyway, we still have "Fake Love", "Aija" and "Hush". I like rock music, so "Fake Love" is my winner now, especially with this great performance. However, Sudden Lights have a very interesting song, with a mysterious vibe, which I really like! They also had an amazing performance, which made the song grow on me. Would be happy with them as a choice.
    Finally, "Hush" definitely has a unique sound and Patrisha is charismatic performer with a good voice. The chorus is really catchy, but overall the song doesn't interest me very much. Not my favourite, but also would be a good choice.
    Other finalists are quite mediocre for me. I can only say, that "When It All Falls", "You Said" and "Tricky" are quite nice.

    • @kaleproject3495
      @kaleproject3495  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep. Agree, agree, agree.
      It's a good national final in that there are those clear favourites at the top, each competitive at ESC in its own way, and underneath, are entries are clearly not in the running but are enjoyable and solid additions to the final itself.
      I guess I would've liked one strong female ballad in the selection and the ones we got fell a bit short...but otherwise, can't really complain.

    Yes! My streak of being the only person that likes When it All Falls continues!!!
    Not much else to say about this ranking, I agree with most of it. I will say, though, that You Said has been growing on me even since I made my own video. I get a lot of Daft Punk inspiration from it, and in this case that's a very good thing.

    • @kaleproject3495
      @kaleproject3495  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That streak might be safe! Though, I have to admit, I'm one of the few who actually enjoys a part of it. XD
      You Said was originally my last place when I first heard it because it was so jarring. I know this is a weird comparison to make but, seriously, in the same way as Eaea in Spain, the more times you listen to it, the more small parts you pick up that you like. It's not a cohesive thing but there's a lot of good there.

    My top 14 with short thoughts:
    14. *Adriana Miglāne - Like I Wanna* (painfully uninteresting, annoying, repetitive etc., worst NF song for me so far)
    13. *Justs - Strangers* (why would anyone sing a song as bland as this?)
    12. *Katrine Miller - Beaten Down* (talk about taking zero risks)
    11. *Toms Kalderauskis - When It All Falls* (performance better than the song)
    10. *Avéi - Let Me Go* (like the previous one, though slightly more interesting)
    09. *Markus Riva - Forever* (okayish at best)
    08. *Alice Haijima - Tricky* (funky and energetic)
    07. *Inspo - Sway* (one of the best songs ruined by a meh performance)
    06. *Artūrs Hatti - Love Vibes* (my guilty pleasure)
    05. *24. Avēnija - You Said* (oddly appealing, still could be better)
    04. *Luīze - You To Hold Me* (it relies on its hook, performance not that good, agree about the piano)
    03. *Patrisha - Hush* (it stands out thanks to its beat, a bit repetitive however)
    02. *Raum - Fake Love* (this would look awesome on the Eurovision stage)
    01. *Sudden Lights - Aijā* (I find it hard to believe that such an incredible song is coming from Latvia of all countries, I love every second of it and the ending in particular makes me shiver)
    To sum up, Supernova has clearly improved from last year when most songs were unlistenable (and some atrocious). I would be happy with any song in my top 3 to win, and delighted with my personal winner doing so. Latvia could finally be in my top 3 for once (never in my top 10 all these years).

      I feel almost all of us are pretty universal in our top three with the strong favourite amongst them being Sudden Lights.

      I don't know if either of those two acts would've made me more confident about them qualifying. I think it's going to be tight but any of them would give Latvia a chance, at least.

      I'd go as far to say that SF1 this year might be even harder to get out of than last year's. It looks fairly stacked already and we've got the likes of Sweden, Serbia, Portugal and Finland to still select. It's fairly unlikely that they're all going to make bad decisions.
      Norway, Israel, Czech Rep and even Croatia look like pretty likely qualifiers and what if Moldova pick Sunstroke? Both them and the Busker will be in this semi final and it's 100% televote.

      Otherwise, I think we're alarmingly similar here, even with the prospects we see those top two songs having.

      @@kaleproject3495 We do agree on Latvia, with the average ranking of 1-2 places more or less. I don't mind Katrine's entry. It's a pleasant little country-pop song. Still, a very average entry overall. National finals I expect to have more differences are Dora and PzE. I assume you'll have a bit higher average than me there. So far, I find nothing in Dora abysmal or outstanding, which is a pickle for me, as I'll vote this Saturday. If this was Latvia or Estonia, I'd have a clear favorite, but in Dora, I'm balancing pros and cons for my top 5 or so. As for PzE, I finally managed to listen to them all once, and I do have a clear favorite, but I'll leave that for when you have listened to them with no prior hype or lack thereof. :)

      @@AlirioAguero2 You know I'm always super interested in your Dora take! I'm enjoying a lot there currently but nothing is striking me as being an *obvious* Eurovision choice. My favourite almost certainly isn't.
      The funny thing is that every year, PzE is one of my favourite national finals and I KNOW I'm going to love it...BUT, it comes up...with 30 new songs...right in the middle of everything else and I never get to listen to everything before the live performances! I'm still fewer than ten songs in.
      Having said that, already one of the PzE songs is amongst my favourites of the season AND another one is very highly rated.

    • @AlirioAguero2
      @AlirioAguero2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kaleproject3495 I can also say that out of NFs I haven't fully ranked or finished, there is one entry in PzE and one entry in FdC which, if picked, would certainly enter my top ten. 😎
      Also, I haven't really ranked or rated Dora yet (and I have to these days - tick-tock!), German selection, Songvakeppnin, Melfest (of course, as there's only seven out), or Moldova (had my order posted, but I'll probably re-rank some with an actual score).
      And of course, then there's Sanremo, and this year, I'm afraid I perhaps won't have time to do a coherent pre-winning list, as today I have obligations, and Dora collides with the first part of the final evening. 😐 Meaning, I'll HAVE to watch it on Thursday, and have a quick response. 😐

    • @kaleproject3495
      @kaleproject3495  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From what I've checked of PzE, there's one song that would go right up to the top of my list battling with a certain Finnish entry if it were picked and the live performance is good. I imagine you can guess what song I'm talking about but I'll leave at that.
      In FdC, my ranking does have one song that has the potential be a solid top five ESC song for me but there's one song that is COMPLETELY under the radar, which, if it connects with me live...could come out of nowhere. Let's just say I'm VERY excited about FdC.
      Ooo...an update on progress, let's go! I'm behind but probably not as behind as you are. I have listened to all the Iceland selection (at last) but ranked/rated nothing. I have listened to about 4-5 songs from Germany but ranked/rated nothing. Halfway through a one-listen rate/ranking of Serbia as of last night.
      Video-wise, I am just behind on Malta (made a top five - need to edit the other THIRTY-FIVE), Italy (starting as of today) and whatever the hell San Marino is doing this year.
      It's annoying that I don't have as much time as I want and having to re-upload videos doesn't help...but I'll get there! I'm most sad about that I have not kept up any sort of "My national final favourites so far" list. >.>

    I agree to one reviewer who assumed that Sway did not qualify for the final because there were already two songs of that type (Sudden Lights and Raum), so the jury did not want to oversaturate the final with this style of music and lose audience for the final, so Sway was left outside as the weakest performer in the semi-final out of these three. And this is why we will have some dull ballads and other useless songs, despite Sway would be a better choice even on their worst day.

    • @kaleproject3495
      @kaleproject3495  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's actually a good point and something I didn't think about. If this was an internal set of auditions, that's the sort of thing you can get away with. When you televise them and clearly leave out one of the better songs, you're going to get heat for it though.
