In terms of quality throughout the selection, it is clearly the strongest national final so far. I can only really imagine making an argument for Serbia, but Italy probably has a bit more strength in its top ten. Really happy we have the same winner, even though we have some big differences across the rest of the selection.
Italy's selection is one of those that recquires more time to fully rank. It's less distinguishing 'good' from 'bad' and more distinguishing 'great' from 'good'. Many of these are proper great entries. Have to be honest, nothing is *really* standing out to me as my clear winner as much as I would've liked to, then again my expectations for Sanremo are always sky-high. It'll probably still be the best NF of the year :v "Finiscimi" is my winner as of now! According to the odds, as reputible as they may be, "La Noia" will be the choice tonight and I'm more than ok with that! Strong package. Sure Top 10 placement. Top 5 even.
That feeling when your favourite is dead last in the results going into the final night can't be good! But yes, agreed. I'm not entirely married to this ranking. In fact, I've already moved The Kolors up two places since I uploaded this. Just wanted to get a general ranking up somewhat close to the time of the festival itself.
It did hurt a bit, 29th is criminal c'mon, but now hurts less knowing that Italy still picked a great entry overall. It might even be my winner of this year's Sanremo, after all (still deliberating on that). Can't say I'm happy about Finland's or Latvia's choices tho. I'm more hurt over those results :/
I got my big hurt in Lithuania today, so I needed Italy to pick me up and I'm happy that they picked something I ranked highly. Because, let's be honest, Finland and Latvia weren't helping me there.

Your ranglist shows once again your good taste and your comments are essential and interesting as usual. My favourite songs/performances (quite on the same level): - SANTI FRANCESI: the winners of Italy's "X-Factor" 2022 bring on the stage elegance and good vocals. Not their best song, but a very stylistic debut compared to so many trendy rivals. - ALESSANDRA AMOROSO: one of our best soul singer, who finally shows a mature control on her voice. Solid ballad, with authentic lyrics about her last difficult years. - BIG MAMA: very emotional performance, impressive autobiographical lyrics about a victim of mobbing and bodyshaming. Really catchy modern pop song, though the conventional structure (are you and me the only ones who find it a bit too similar to Lazza's "Cenere"?). - MAHMOOD: I'm not a big fan of him, but I have to say he always crashes the festival with something fresh and new. However I agree with you, keeping on the stage the upbeats of his instrumentally strong song was a bit uncomfortable for him. - ANGELINA MANGO: definitely a great one-girl-show. For my taste her song is a bit too trendy, but it's perfect for the big stage of Malmö 2024. - CLARA: amazing debut. Why don't people talk more about her? Cause they had other expectations. She won Sanremo Giovani (December 2023) with an original uptempo ballad in Mahmood-style. Now she should find her personal way (actually she sounds like a kind of Annalisa's little sister), but the beginning is more than a promise.
Thanks for checking out the video! I didn't get around to checking it out but I heard Santi Francesi's Giovani song was much better and that they are a really good duo. I am more than happy to give their music another chance. They have talent. Big Mama was really similar to Cenere for me, but to be honest, with there not being anything obviously similar in this selection itself, I didn't mind too much. Her performance was really engaging, so I'm willing to forgive some similarities. I'd love to say we should have a little break from Mahmood at Sanremo but when he brings stuff this good, it's hard. As you say, I always find his entries different. Clara is exciting. The last female act I got this excited about in Sanremo was Madame and she's produced two excellent albums I fully enjoyed since. Hopefully, she's another great discovery I've made through the festival.
Hi! Usually my comments are quite long, but this time I just want to acknowledge Ricchi e Poveri. At their age, they are one of the most energetic performers I saw in ESC or NFs ever. It's something I don't have an explanation for, but I don't think it's needed. A few words about some others, too. "Capolavoro" for now is my the least favourite Il Volo's Sanremo song (the bar is really high, though). Their amazing voices are still here, it just doesn't excite me as much as two others. Still would rate it with 8/10, since it's probably impossible for them to produce something mediocre. Oh, and I quite enjoy "Vai", but that's because I like basically all the things you mentioned!)
I definitely agree. One of the best acts of their age bracket ever to be on the stage imo. They've been brilliant all week. I fluctuate with Il Volo. I think Grande Amore was their best vocal arrangement but I found the instrumental to be uninspired. Musica Che Resta wasn't a strong song in any way but they made it work. So yeah, I think Capolavoro is up there for me. The dislike of Vai is very much going to be a me thing. I hope everyone treats it as such!
That might've also been in my head when I was hearing it. And glad you have the same top two! Always a big ask for a newcomer to win Sanremo, but, Clara is certainly one of the most competitive acts ever from that category.
@@kaleproject3495 Haha understandable! Yes it’s a hard thing to do for sure, La Noia would be a great addition for Italy at Eurovision and I’d love to see Clara back in Sanremo in the future (and maybe win too!) 😄
@@MySistersCrown It's nice to have a female entry under such strong consideration to actually win Sanremo. So yes, Angelina can walk today so Clara can run tomorrow!
This time I tend to agree more with those who say that it's really the best edition they've got in many-many years. I usually have a problem watching it live as it starts really late in my time zone and there're too many songs whose only objective is to put me to sleep, but this year it was much more me-friendly in these terms :D 30. Agree here, absolutely worst of the season. The only song I find utterly bad this year. 29. And here's where we start disagreeing :D I found it really charming, dynamic and well-put together, also it's kinda the first time I've heard this blend of country music with Italian tradition - and for me it worked really well supported by Alfa's right stage presence. 28. There's something really nostalgic about the tune and something memorable about his voice that doesn't let me write it off completely. I enjoyed it when it was on, but I can't say it's the song I'm going to replay. 27. He's got his own idea for sure. I agree about the beats but the whole thing kept me interested throughout - talking about the progression, the song has it over to 200%, it's a bit of a rollercoaster which makes you dizzy the first time but I wanted to try it once again for sure. 26. This year was full of italian-divas-doing-electropop - and unfortunately, I believe Emma got the worst song in this field. It builds up okay towards the chorus... and then throws itself into the abyss with that awful instrumental piece. Just no. 25. Agree here, his song previous year had at least some charm, this one is just boring. 24. Maybe it's me in my thirties but I did enjoy this one. Not a contender, but it's a nice throwback act with Fiorella putting it just in the perfect way on stage. I can get your simile about Moldovan final but it's not as demanding and irritating - and I found myself to be able to enjoy this kind of songs when done in a more gentle way :D 23. Found it forgettable. 22. I'm an absolute fan of 'Occhi tristi' (the entry they competed with at Sanremo Giovanni) so this one let me a bit down but still it's solid. Can't say I like the first part of the song, to be honest, but then it builds up into something I can enjoy. 21. Very classic. Maybe too classic. In a year when Sanremo decided to go for a more current sound it feels like a nostalgia act - and not a very strong one. The only thing that kinda upholds it is that Nek is still a hell of a performer, he drags this song to much higher levels than where it should be. 20. It's alright but not very memorable and nothing to get very much excited about for me. 19. Same thing here. Agree that there were songs that did the same things better. 18. Agree that it's much more tolerable than 'Autodistruttivo'... but that's it. In my head I got them to compare to last year's Colla Zio - and Bnkr44 lost at every level unfortunately. 17. I enjoy it much more than their Italodisco, to be honest :D the only thing that disturbs me is that the chorus is a complete rip-off from a song from my country, I can't but sing along the wrong lyrics when it sets off xD 16. Sorry, I forgot about this one when talking about utterly bad songs... there are two of them. It's boringly annoying and annoyingly boring and her vocal styling... doesn't help to say the least. 15. There are some good pieces throughout the song (I especially like the way the chorus ends) but there are some done completely wrong and unlike Cenere, it doesn't have anything extra to offer. Don't think it'll do well at ESC if Italian public manages to vote it into winning. 14. I like the funk sound here and the whole laid-back feeling he gets across in this song. His vocals are much more... questionable though. 13. Would never expect Loredana singing a song which seems to belong to Maneskin :D her passion and enthusiasm are heart-melting but I can't seriously see this song as any kind of contender. 12. Seems we are vice-versa on this and Gazzelle - for me this one is just boring. 11. Bigmama looks nice, has got very warm stage presence, the song has very nice verses... but this disaster of a chorus? are you serious? 10. I am still sceptical about how this 'let's-do-everything-as-epic-and-dramatic-as-possible' suits him. It just doesn't suit him, in my opinion, he can't get it as bombastic as it should be. Not bad I feel but this is not the right direction for Irama. 9. BigMama vice versa. I had already put it into my #28 during the verse... but then the chorus kicked off - and wow, it really turned the tables. 8. I kinda disagree here as I was very glad to see Annalisa FINALLY move away from her trying to become a ballad diva into something more lively (especially after she got rejected last year with 'Bellissima'), I believe she looks and sounds much more sincere and likeable and the song - along with being solidly done - has this extra thing with 'quando-quando-quando'-counting-rhyme-like chorus which immediately got stuck in my head and gives this extra character to the song that it needed to stand out. 7. Sorry. I find them incredibly overrated and their way of nostalgia songwriting just doesn't work for me. They sound alright, their song is by no means incompetent but for me it's just cloying and overly epic. 6. Maybe Mahmood's first Sanremo entry I am to enjoy (even though his vocal style still distracts me a bit) - and guess what, it's gonna do much worse than the other ones. Meh. Still this transition from the verse into the chorus is just brilliant. 5. Agree here completely, you just have to give up and enjoy this :D 4. For me here's that top-tier Sanremo song the lack of which you complained about. It's that classic Sanremo done to the perfect standard mixed flawlessly with a little bit of blues, a little bit of Britpop which only make the whole dish spicier. Add distinctive Diodato's vocals and progression to the epic finish - and here they are, goosebumps. Just flawless. My winner - and should he get chosen (zero percent probability, I know), will be my winner of the whole year. 3. He's got a distinctive vocal style as well - but I'm not quite sure I'm ready to enjoy it. The song is also distinctive, I'm not sure whether its dynamics and progression really make me interested or annoyed - it builds up then suddenly brakes down and then rinse and repeat... The countdown idea is nice though. 2. Well, it's their perfect ESC entry I beleive. Current sound, nice vocals, a great hook, stage presence and character - checks all the boxes. Not completely my cup of tea but well-done for sure. 1. It without any doubt is a good song, a bit formulaic for me and Clara looks a bit uncertain on stage, but overall it's done up to all standards. I just think Annalisa does things a bit better in all ways in the same genre so it got a bit lost.
Am really glad that you liked Diodato's entry so much! It has such quality to it, even if it is not as immediate as his previous two entries. I think performance-wise, he's a level above pretty much everyone in this selection now, and that's amazing considering, I think even he'd agree, that he used to simply not have that confidence previously. I feel another win is definitely in his future. I think I am also in agreement about this being my favourite Mahmood entry, though they're all of a similar level for me, in that, they're pretty damn good. We ended up with Angelina as the winner, which all things considered, I think is the best move in terms of Eurovision for Italy, and probably, maintains the integrity of the festival given how some of the televoting was going. A great year for Sanremo and hopefully, a great Mango season!
They really did come further down the list, didn't they? It happens every year though. I think outside of the top five, the results aren't that important.
30) Governo Punk: Just feel like the song is too much for me 29) Fragili: The song was good for like the first 45 seconds and then just didn't impress me afterwards 28) La Rabbia Non Ti Basta: Just not for me 27) Click Boom: Verses aren't bad, chorus sucks 26) Il cielo non ci vuole: I expected more from him, didn't impress me 25) Casa Mia: I still wonder how this got into the top 5, nowhere near good enough 24) Tutto Qui: Just forgettable 23) Vai! : It's just meh 22) Un Ragazzo Una Ragazza: It's just a bad version of Italodisco, it's not that good 21) La Noia: My least favorite Sanremo winner by a long shot, just not a fan of this genre of music 20) Tuta Gold: Not a Mahmood Fan 19) I P'Me, Tu P'Te: This song would be higher up if it weren't for the Napoletano dialect which is hard to listen to in a song like this 18) Spettacolare: This is where the songs become enjoyable, overall this one is just ok 17) Pazzo di te: Renga's worst entry in a long time, not saying it's bad, I just had high expectations for the two 16) L'amore in bocca: Somehow forgettable and good at the same time... 15) Autodistruttivo: I completely disagree here, I think the song is fantastic 14) Pazza: Expected so much from her, it's grown on me, but not enough to make my top 10 13) Ricominciamo Tutto: Agree completely with everything you said 12) Finiscimi: I could see why some people say it's boring, but for me it is enjoyable, 29th is absurd for this song 11) Diamanti Grezzi: Solid song, nothing else to say 10) Mariposa: I tend to like the older entries, this one didn't really hit me the way I thought it would, but it's still good 9) Onda Alta: Dargen D'Amico is one of my favorite performers of Sanremo this year with a fantastic song 8) Apnea: I expected Emma to produce something similar to Ogni Volta E Cosi, but no, this one is different and it's phenomenal 7) Ma non tutta la vita: I don't think anyone expected it to be this good, definitely will be higher in the list later on in the year 6) Capolavoro: I will say, this was underwhelming for Il Volo's standards, still good though 5) Due Altalene: Better than Supereoi 4) Fino a qui: Wasn't expecting Alessandra Amoroso to bring a ballad, she did and it's fantastic 3) Ti Muovi: Agreed with you here 2) Sinceramente: It was hard to pick a winner here, this one was so close to being number one, it's different and I love it 1) Tu No: Ultimately, this was my only choice for the first place. Checks every single one of my boxes. It joins Mengoni, Ranieri, Ultimo (2023) and Noemi (2021) to give me goosebumps after the first time listening to it. Best Sanremo song of all time in my opinion
Really glad you enjoyed Irama's entry to the extent that you did! I always go into Sanremo looking for those possible "Best of all time"-type songs and didn't find it for myself personally this year. But always happy when it happens for other listeners. Irama has really developed as a performer across the four entries I've seen him compete with, and commands the stage and the arena fully now. I think his time will come for sure.
i literally just finished ranking Sanremo and i genuinely didn't expect us to agree on a lot of these. There are some exceptions like Il Volo and Fino a qui but we almost agree on everything, even the winner! Clara's song was the first I listened to (going through from the 1st night running order) and I really didn't expect to keep her as my winner all the way. I do have to say though, La noia isn't hooking me in as quickly as I hoped, but there is a lot of potential with it (and Dardust composing it, i can see myself loving this later on). I really hope she wins honestly because this can rival Soldi.
I'm glad there are at least some people getting Clara's entry and having it towards the top. It's always difficult for me to see other songs, like Annalisa's, getting actual hype when there's one that, to me, is clearly better. Quite excited for tonight's result. ^^
San Remo music festival ISN'T the selection for Eurovision. It's older than Eurovision, and maybe it is one of oldest music festival of the world... Eurovision was born from San Remo, that's why Italy goes directly on final....
Che senso ha questo tuo commento? Ha stufato. magari un giorno avremo un contesto studiato apposta per eurovision o forse no.. Non a tutti interessa neanche sapere se come è nato esc ma smettetela di ripeterlo mi da noia
I really don't get the hype for Angelina & Annalissa, the song are great but we had way more better songs from female artist in sanremo and yes it's the "worst" attempt by Annalissa, I'm hoping Ghali or Mahmood wins even if Sangiovanni is my absolute winner but he won't win for sure but strong selection from Italy !
I think it's a combination of the female acts being stronger than usual and the male acts not being as strong. It's a good opportunity to get behind a female act this year for Italy as you never know when the opportunity will arise again. That's two first place votes for Sangiovanni in my comments! It's a shame he's currently last in the results. ;;
Still think this is a strong nf, even if not the best it's still consistent and always top quality. My biggest disagreements would be that Rose Villain and to a lesser degree Annalisa are both overrated for me. I just find that Click Boom is another one of these "several songs in one" and it's very disjointed and poorly made in my opinion. I also think the chorus is extremely obnoxious. I'd give credit though to the instrumental that stays semi-interesting. Also Un ragazzo Una ragazza is my fascination, and I'm surprised they're not getting more credit by people !
I can agree with the Rose Villain criticism, but as I said, I actually found that contrast to work for most of the song. I also think Annalisa's song was overrated, but how far down can you objectively put it? It's almost certainly a top ten song in this selection, no? Un Ragazzo Una Ragazza is a little off-putting at first, maybe even irritating...but it grows on you. I've actually moved it up two positions since publishing this video, so that tells you everything you need to know!
Un Ragazzo Una Ragazza having Blanka from Poland in their MV was so random and Iconic
It was!
Love Blanka even more now. She's embracing Eurovision life!

I’m loving when Clara’s song comes on In my playlist now because it’s a guessing game of wether it’s her song or duga je noć
Haha....that opening does throw you, doesn't it?
Great list! My favourites are Irama and Mahmood!
Out of the two, would obviously prefer Irama from a potential Eurovision perspective. Mahmood might have the better song though!
The chorus straight up from a Moldovan selection for Mariposa is so spot on because it reminded me of ay ay ay from this year 😂
Also I’ve got the same top 2! Really hope Angelina will win it’d be much deserved and what an amazing debut for Clara 😁😁
@@kaleproject3495 I can think of a few female entries from the past Sanremo years who should’ve made it but well!
Let it be Angelina’s year at least🤞
GREAT winner omg
she gives me lovad vibes i dont know how to explain it
Mark my words, she's going to win one of these things one day.
Great Top!!
Thanks so much! You checked it out so quickly! :3
This time I tend to agree more with those who say that it's really the best edition they've got in many-many years. I usually have a problem watching it live as it starts really late in my time zone and there're too many songs whose only objective is to put me to sleep, but this year it was much more me-friendly in these terms :D
I can get your simile about Moldovan final but it's not as demanding and irritating - and I found myself to be able to enjoy this kind of songs when done in a more gentle way :D
17. I enjoy it much more than their Italodisco, to be honest :D the only thing that disturbs me is that the chorus is a complete rip-off from a song from my country, I can't but sing along the wrong lyrics when it sets off xD
5. Agree here completely, you just have to give up and enjoy this :D
Ma Non Tutta La Vita and Diamanti Grezzi were supremely robbed in terms of results
They really did come further down the list, didn't they? It happens every year though. I think outside of the top five, the results aren't that important.
Seems to be a lot of good stuff here but based on these clips, I think I agree with your winner. Also liked Bigmama's clip a lot.
BigMama is worth watching the whole performance of. She really does a good job with it!
30) Governo Punk: Just feel like the song is too much for me
29) Fragili: The song was good for like the first 45 seconds and then just didn't impress me afterwards
28) La Rabbia Non Ti Basta: Just not for me
27) Click Boom: Verses aren't bad, chorus sucks
26) Il cielo non ci vuole: I expected more from him, didn't impress me
25) Casa Mia: I still wonder how this got into the top 5, nowhere near good enough
24) Tutto Qui: Just forgettable
23) Vai! : It's just meh
22) Un Ragazzo Una Ragazza: It's just a bad version of Italodisco, it's not that good
21) La Noia: My least favorite Sanremo winner by a long shot, just not a fan of this genre of music
20) Tuta Gold: Not a Mahmood Fan
19) I P'Me, Tu P'Te: This song would be higher up if it weren't for the Napoletano dialect which is hard to listen to in a song like this
18) Spettacolare: This is where the songs become enjoyable, overall this one is just ok
17) Pazzo di te: Renga's worst entry in a long time, not saying it's bad, I just had high expectations for the two
16) L'amore in bocca: Somehow forgettable and good at the same time...
15) Autodistruttivo: I completely disagree here, I think the song is fantastic
14) Pazza: Expected so much from her, it's grown on me, but not enough to make my top 10
13) Ricominciamo Tutto: Agree completely with everything you said
12) Finiscimi: I could see why some people say it's boring, but for me it is enjoyable, 29th is absurd for this song
11) Diamanti Grezzi: Solid song, nothing else to say
10) Mariposa: I tend to like the older entries, this one didn't really hit me the way I thought it would, but it's still good
9) Onda Alta: Dargen D'Amico is one of my favorite performers of Sanremo this year with a fantastic song
8) Apnea: I expected Emma to produce something similar to Ogni Volta E Cosi, but no, this one is different and it's phenomenal
7) Ma non tutta la vita: I don't think anyone expected it to be this good, definitely will be higher in the list later on in the year
6) Capolavoro: I will say, this was underwhelming for Il Volo's standards, still good though
5) Due Altalene: Better than Supereoi
4) Fino a qui: Wasn't expecting Alessandra Amoroso to bring a ballad, she did and it's fantastic
3) Ti Muovi: Agreed with you here
2) Sinceramente: It was hard to pick a winner here, this one was so close to being number one, it's different and I love it
1) Tu No: Ultimately, this was my only choice for the first place.
I know. I've been watching it long enough.
I get a comment like this every year. 😂
Che senso ha questo tuo commento? Ha stufato. magari un giorno avremo un contesto studiato apposta per eurovision o forse no.. Non a tutti interessa neanche sapere se come è nato esc ma smettetela di ripeterlo mi da noia
1.🍑 🔥
2.Annalisa🍒
3.Clara 🌨️🍷
Should really be the year for a woman to finally win this thing. ;)
I did not expect to immediately have 2 of my top 10 in the bottom 4
I'm sorry! Which ones did I hurt? ;;
@@kaleproject3495 Onda Alta is my 4th, and Vai! is my 5th
@@sleppehdaze7739 Ah! Fair enough. These are songs that are just really not my style and are ongoing dislikes for me. So it's not that bad.
I think it's a combination of the female acts being stronger than usual and the male acts not being as strong. It's a good opportunity to get behind a female act this year for Italy as you never know when the opportunity will arise again.
That's two first place votes for Sangiovanni in my comments! It's a shame he's currently last in the results. ;;
I've actually moved it up two positions since publishing this video, so that tells you everything you need to know!
ghali fr pulling up with the ja i zivot pas i macka
I apologise. Ghali should be much higher in my top and he is now. I was wrong to underrate him as much as I did. ;;
