  • So I'm not seeing many top 40's going around for the Lithuania selection. There might be a reason for that but, I failed to get the memo so here you are!
    Obviously, this took the longest to make out of all my videos so far this season so I hope you guys think it is worth it. I really enjoyed this selection and think about half the songs are actually quite good. I especially like my top twelve and think all of them would have been strong Eurovision choices for Lithuania.
    Out of those that are still in contention, you can probably work out my order of preference...but there are many good options for me. And, if Lithuania aren't feeling brave, they can always just send The Roop and still do well.
    Good job, Lithuania!

    Finally some Shower appreciation! I was surprised that "Impossible" is still falling under the radar of most people, as the instrumentation and emotion of the song blew me away at the first listen.

      Let's go! My Eurovision friends and I really love the song and have no idea why it's not being talked about more! It won its SF, yet nobody is thinking of it as a potential winner.

    Hi! Lithuanian NF for me is always something fine, but not outstanding. However, this year it is quites trong with some great songs!
    My winners are The Roop and I love this song. It is completely what it has to be - a hymn of simple joy. I like the chill, relaxed atmosphere a lot and they make the performance work. It will be the safest choice for a top 15 in Malmö, at least.
    My 2nd place is "Gaude vejai" by Žalvarinis. I just love this kind of folk rock, it sounds so warm, cosy and atmospheric! It could be more exciting, but it's still a great song with great vocals! They probably won't win, but I still like it.
    My 3rd place is something you really don't like, but it's "Time" by Il Senso. I'm not very familiar with the details of the voting scandal, so I'll talk about the song. If the last third wasn't the same as the first and with more instruments added, it could be my ESC winner of this year, cause the vocals are incredible and the atmosphere is so theatrical and medieval that I love it!
    "Luktelk" is one of the most overrated songs of this season for me. I like that it's in Lithuanian, but the vibe of it isn't completely mine, neither is his delivery. I really hope that The Roop will win instead of him, which is now quite possible with this running order.
    From the NQs, I really liked "Dungeons and Dragons", "Jigsaw" and "New Years", which I loved in the studio version and the staging was pretty, but the vocals did quite convince me.

      Was surprised with the results! I never expected The Roop to come third in the televoting in the superfinal. I was more than ready for them to come back to Eurovision and get that top 15 place you alluded to. I don't think "Luktelk" has *much* more potential than that placing but I don't think it's going to finish lower either. It's a solid selection and maintains Lithuania's recent quality streak.
      Your other two entries you liked were probably my last two places in the final. Don't really want to go on about Il Senso again, they're not for me. Žalvarinis could be though. I think you're right that the song needed to be a bit more exciting to properly catch on, but in terms of delivering what they had, I thought they were good. Stronger song and I can see them doing even better.
      Really like your take on the NQers. Obviously from my ranking, you can see that I rated them all highly. What was more surprising was how good some of the less standout songs were from a performance/production perspective. I think songs like Puppeteer, Run and It Is What It Is were all really well put together and delivered. It made each week's semi final worth watching.

    Glad to see The Roop not being bashed for being “much worse” than their 2 esc entries. I personally like it more. Since I really love their non esc music, it’s so laid back with a carefree sound to the whole thing.

      Exactly this. For people who don't follow them, this might sound like a bit of a different Roop than they're used to, but in fact, this is probably one of their ESC entries that's most like their regular music!

    Feels a bit ridiculous that it took so long to find someone else who loves "Impossible". I can see why it's getting overshadowed by "Luktelk" and "Simple Joy", but I thought that it would still be appreciated by most. I don't think it's my favorite NF24 song yet, but it's definitely up there. Hoping that Shower wins tomorrow.
    Happy to see you liked "Jigsaw" as well. It has my favorite staging from this season so far. Completely exceeded my expectations from the thumbnail. It made me think it was going to be something goofy like "My AI".

      "Impossible" is definitely not getting enough love outside of Lithuania, but it does seem pretty popular there. The YT views are good and they did win the televote in their semi final. I'd like it to pull off an upset but not holding my breath!
      "Jigsaw" took me a couple of listens to really get it. It's a brave entry. Again, with only two songs getting through each SF, I wasn't expecting much but it's definitely one of the songs that I think helps make the case for everyone to check out the full selection!

    Happy New Year for us Asians. I hope you are having a good time because i'm swimming in homework hell rn (help).
    Anyway, here's my top 10 of Lithuania cause i don't want to rank any NF that's over 20 songs:
    10. Time (I don't know it's more expensive to buy 3000 votes than an actually good song.)
    9. We Will Rule The World (Please don't tell me she's the same Aiste who is the Markus Riva of Lithuania because this is pretty tragic.)
    8. Impossible (The lyrics are nice but not a fan of the instrumental, sorry:()
    7. Walk Through Fire (In any other year these girls would be higher but Lithuania is pretty good this year so...)
    6. The Lithuanian song (I want to like this more but it's too soft and a bit forgettable for me.)
    5. Kaboom (I don't know if this being a parody about something Korean is good or not, but ignoring that the song actually slap. One of the better novelty entry of the year but i don't like the power ranger helmet.)
    4. Simple Joy (I don't mind if these guys win again. It's not as good as either 2020 or 2021 but it's comparable to their 2018 entry. It's what it is, simple joy.)
    3. Unlove You Starting Tomorrow (This year Lithuania certainly won't be Monikaland 3 years in a row, but i quite like the song. Unpopular opinion ahead, i think this is the best entry of her since 2019.)
    2. Be Careful (Thank god the jury did something right for once. This is so laidback, so non-competitive and it's going straight into my playlist.)
    1. Luktelk (I think i listened to this over 100 times already. I just love everything about this package: catchy, haunting song, confident, effortless performer and slick performance. Lithuania please send this.)
    Overall, this is a really strong year for Lithuania. I love my winner dearly but I wouldn't mind if any other songs in my top 8 win.
    Also, do i have deja vu or a lot of your NF winner had already been eliminated before the final?

      I checked and nope, the Aistè here is not the same as the one that's competed a bunch of times in the past (you can partially tell because she has an apostrophe above the E in her name instead of a dot). Aistė is just a common name in Lithuania, I guess...there's also the Aistė from 1999 (easily the best of these three Aistės). It does get confusing. Doesn't help that none of them seem to want to use their last names.

      Happy CNY! Hope you've had some good times with your family. ^^
      It's a strong top ten in Lithuania this year. There's a couple of songs that maybe shouldn't be there, but they got about 6-7 really good ones...so you can't complain too much. There's high quality stuff in there. All of your top five would be fine for me as Eurovision entries, so should be exciting to see how this voting shakes out.
      Ooo...good question about my NF winners. In past years, my favourites all did really badly. This year, I think I've lost Lithuania, Moldova, Ukraine....yeah, actually, I've lost a few when you think about it!

  • @shaiaesc8183
    @shaiaesc8183 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    I do know you weren't a fan of Monika Marija's Criminal and even Light On if I recall but especially the former and tbh, I did agree with your comments in your top back then. Criminal was mostly good because of Monika herself, while Light On was the better song of the two but did feel a bit tryhard in a way, although I did really like it.
    I enjoyed If I Leave probably much more than most people because it felt more subdued, subtle and sincere than Light On probably because of this. It also did feel like it fit her better. It was my personal winner of Pabandom is Naujo 2020, just a bit ahead of Monique and The Roop, but still.
    This year, I think she's yet again my personal favourite but I'm afraid it's not in contention, yet again as well :s Unlove You Starting Tomorrow is just absolutely beautiful but it's even more subtle and subdued as well as more of a slower song than If I Leave, which I'm afraid means televote won't be very high for this. Maybe the staging could attract some televotes though but I'm not sure ; it is excellent. Anyway, I love it :D
    Also, on one hand I think it would be incredibly funny and wonderful to have a third talented Monika in a row representing Lithuania at Eurovision xD That's something I would be here for :p It's like the holy trinity of Lithuanian Monikas right here x) But on the other hand, if I can be fully honest, I would want her to find THE song because it's probably still not quite it, for Eurovision at least, I believe she can do even better than this one and I am afraid this would be underappreciated at Eurovision.

    • @kaleproject3495
      @kaleproject3495  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I've been through quite the journey with Monika. Her first attempt, or at least the first during the era of original songs for each artist in Lithuania, that I caught was when she took over from Erica Jennings in her song, "The Truth". That was a hard one as it was a really personal song written by Erica, and having to sing that wasn't easy. She did a good job getting it to the final, but it wasn't for me.
      Light On was a top five song in that year's selection for me, whereas Criminal wasn't on my radar so much, even thought Monika delivered it well (she picked the right song to drop). They were both songs that were in a similar style of "The Truth" in that they were really asking her to belt out her vocals and create "moments" in her songs. I don't think that's Monika's strength as a vocalist. She can do it, but it's not what she's great at.
      The "If I Leave" turn when she went more down a sentimental country route was when I started to like her as an actual artist, and not just admire her as a vocalist. I think her voice has this warmth to it and what's really underrated about her, is how much actual feeling she gets across in her facial expressions and in her gestures when she performs. I'm sorry, but Monika Marija was MADE for country music and I'm always going to be here for it.
      I never thought I'd write that much about her, but there you go!
      You're probably right that she's on the outside of the big favourites this year, but, I think with the way things went, she's clearly in the top half of the final when it comes to the final result, and you never know...if she got a jury win, with how close The Roop and Silvester are, there are possibilities for her to win with a third place televote (which might be doable, though Shower are probably ahead of her there). The tiebreaker in Lithuania was the jury last year, I don't know if it is again, but it would leave a path open for her!
      I really liked your sentiment in your last paragraph because that's how I feel about a lot of my favourite artists when it comes to Eurovision selections. Sometimes, their music is so consistently good, that I find myself thinking, "I know you're going to go to ESC eventually, but I know you can do *slightly* better than this song you're currently competing with, so I kinda don't mind if you miss out this time." It's a weird feeling, but I think you might understand it.

      @@kaleproject3495 I see, I have to say I don't know that one so I should go take a look.
      I know, both tbh were high in your top overall but you didn't seem to feel impressed by either although Light On was higher, was indeed the better song of the two and she did well to drop Criminal. And I see, I guess overall I agree with that statement although I do love to hear her belts, I think she's great at it actually because I think her voice makes them still warm and inviting since she has a little bit of a deeper/richer tone in my opinion. But I do completely agree with the fact that I don't think what she needs is a song that asks her to ''only'' belt, because I think what fits her the best is a song that lets her showoff her entire range.
      That's what made me enjoy If I Leave more indeed. She really does connect and I think she's really good both as a performer and vocalist. I also think If I Leave just allowed her to both show her voice's warmth but still had that high note at the end and some little moments that highlighted her belts as well. It felt less ''forced'' than Criminal/Light On which was my main criticism of these personally. It didn't feel like it really fit while I think If I Leave felt like it fit her better indeed. I do think country/country-pop is a type of music that fits her and her voice very well, although I think she can still work very well with pop alone as well though, I just think it'd need to be pop with a richer and warm instrumental to make the most impact, if that makes sense. I think that'd be a good fit for her voice as well.
      Haha, I appreciate you writing that much about her ^^. Monika Marija is one of the best discoveries of Eurovision NFs for me tbh. I really love to see her around in Lithuania's selection.
      Yeah, it seems. I think country is underappreciated overall so I'm not too surprised (see what happened to the country song in Latvia's NF), but I do think she's still quite high like you mention yeah. I do know that's not something you'd be happy to see though, if juries make her go xD
      Yep, that's always a little hard to be honest. Personally would love to see her go but it'd be a bit heartbreaking if she just ends up in the top 15 or something, let alone not qualify of course since I never write weird results off at Eurovision xD. I do completely understand that feeling, it's indeed just a bit weird in the sense that it's conflictual since you'd love to see them go, but at the same time you'd rather see them go when they've got their best chances, which is completely normal ^^. I guess there's also the fear to see them not do well despite bringing quality, of course. I think the other contestant in NF I had the feeling with this year was Annalisa ; she's consistently great in my book and I especially loved Dieci personally, but, yeah, it just feels like it lacks that little something to be like ''yes, that's the one, send her'' ^^

    Man. IMO. This selection had by far the strongest top 3. All three of them gave me goosebumps and I gave them all a 10/10. So glad they got the results right imo. It’s crazy to think that Impossible would be sent under last years rules, and though Luktelk is my #1 of Eurovision so far, Impossible would be high as well.

    • @kaleproject3495
      @kaleproject3495  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Definitely. That put the "super" in Super Final. Three great songs, all Eurovision top 15ers against each other. No losers here.
      My thoughts on the actual choice are more that Impossible would give Lithuania a chance at a level of jury support they've never had before. We know they tend to do well in the televote, and they will again here...but, throw in the potential of jury points too, and Lithuania might've been a top five entry with Impossible. Luktelk should do well, but it's got to get you thinking.

  • @tzoreehandler9163
    @tzoreehandler9163 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    My favourite is Luktelk, so ofc I hope it wins. I still feel like The Roop will win in the end, due to their popularity in Lithuania.
    I can also see Monika Marija winning and being the 3rd Monika in a row to represent Lithuania...

    • @kaleproject3495
      @kaleproject3495  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would not have a problem with any of these three options. I think it is extremely likely that The Roop still win the televote (Luktelk could...it has a lot of YT views but I think a lot of these are from outside Lithuania).
      Juries will have a big say because there's a *lot* of good jury songs in this lineup. Monika, Shower, Pluie De Comètes. It is entirely possible that The Roop could finish 3rd or 4th in the jury vote and then, it's conceivable that the televote 2nd or 3rd place could win the whole thing.
      Should be exciting.

    One thing I always like about your videos is that you always mention these bands I've never heard of in my entire life. I guess it's time to look up The Rah Band and The Brand New Heavies lol. Also, I actually did watch the live performance of your winner a while back (had already heard the studio version; still uncanny just how similar she sounds to Billie Eilish); wasn't a fan of the dancer but I guess the performance would've been a bit boring without her there.
    I'm starting to become a genuine fan of Queens of Roses. I just watched Washing Machine and while I much prefer their song here (especially because they completely ruined Washing Machine in the final, the original was SO much better), they're just such a charismatic and fun group to watch. Their songs are kinda weird and they're not ultra polished like a Destiny's Child or Fifth Harmony or Little Mix or what have you, but that's what I like about them; they're just there to have a good time and I respect it. Helps that they're actually good singers. Plus, basing a song around a WASHING MACHINE of all things is absolutely hilarious so I have to like them just for that lol.
    I still don't feel that great about Kaboom tbh. The live performance is genuinely funny at points but I know some Koreans that aren't particularly happy about the song, mostly because the first time the Korean language has a serious chance of being represented in Eurovision is in a song that just makes fun of their music industry and in which the only actual Korean lines are "noodle chicken". It would come across a lot better if the guy behind the group was actually Korean lol.

    • @kaleproject3495
      @kaleproject3495  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Haha...I can't always guarantee that the musical acts I refer to are good, I think it's safe to say that they're mostly interesting at least. I mean, I liked the use of the dancer in New Years. Sometimes, you can't please people. Krick needed more, April needed it without the dancer, sometimes, you just do the best you can lol
      Agreed with the Washing Machine take. The original version was based. They got away from what made it brilliant, but the original will live on. And yeah, a girl group doesn't need to be ultra-polished or have a certain look to be great. It's quite simple, look like you belong together as a group, and sound good together when you sing.
      I think with the globalisation of Korean music, it's not imperative that one of the members of the group be Korean. It's kind of in the public domain now and its influence is seen in multiple other industries now. As you know from our conversations, many of the comments that I believe I am hearing Kaboom are on-the-money and relevant issues. So yeah, I'm still really enjoying it.
