I think to fix your supply problems there should be multiple truck drops in the cities. If you set it up like a bus route with several unload places, It will be a good upgrade to a lot of your chains and will supply the full amount the city requires.
I agree, even if the AOs overlap it will probably earn way more money and up the demand a lot more without having to expand into more cities, easy fix too
A few of us covered this way back. Not sure if he reads the comments.
you should set up 2 drop-off points in the city to maximize demand
24:00 If you connect the track all the way across, you can select the intersection to the middle track and make it a double switch. A better way to connect all lines.
I think you should do a recap of all your lines, to renew everything and maximize profit
That is a really great idea. I support this.
That seems to be what ColonelFailure keeps referring to as "Lap 2"
The reason the game doesn’t want to meet demand in the cities is due to not having enough truck stops. You can add more truck stops to the line to hit all demand areas - the truck loads will be unloaded equally among the city
I've spent a ridiculous amount of time playing along on this map - my first and only TF2 game. I'm about done, though - hardly any resources left that I'm not using. My map is more track than grass. I'm probably the only one, but I'd be into it if you started another map. Great series, though - thanks!
LOL its getting a little nutty. Using planes to transport oil is hilarious. LOL I love seeing the cities so big and expanding. I've never got that far in the TF games and am working towards that, but for now am just trying to not go bankrupt. Love the series.
More very interesting solutions to interesting problems! **chuckles** I do hope thought that you noticed that when you deleted that small bit of road in Mablethorpe that kept you from deleting another bit of road at 31:43 it left what was already a very steep drop in the road as an almost sheer vertical drop; before the next episode, you may want to delete that other bit of small city street that has the two fuel consumers on it to smooth that drop in the road out to the bottom for the good citizens of Mablethorpe 😂
this playthough got me to play the game again after about 6 months, thank you! i have very much enjoyed so far
Cool series! I was wondering, you're often commenting on your cities' growth to be hemmed in by the railroads. Have you considered to put an cityroad on the other side of the track and connect it for instance underground (or with a bridge) to the original part of the city? Pollution wise maybe not the most brilliant idea but if you extend it from a commercial or industrial zone, you should be fine, right?
TF2 is such a good game. I presume the devs are just responding to player feedback however rather than adding more vehicles (TF2DE), I’d really like to see them focus on some actual improvements in game play. There’s so much low hanging fruit. For instance, templating. A basic vehicle and structure template manager would really reduce the tedium of doing the same thing 500 times when you could be having fun playing the actual game. I almost went crazy watching the reconfigure of the truck stations in this play through.
An alternative to a long train line for tools to Mablethorpe and Sutton would be: Truck logs to sawmill, boat lumber to tool plant, boat tools to Loughton, and train them the rest of the way.
31:54 Holy mother of god, what kind of inclined road is that?!!😵
Edit: On the top right corner
I know this is too late as this was pre-recorded, but isn't it obvious that much easier than moving the truck stop and demolishing city to expand the existing freight station is just building a new freight station closer to the existing truck stop, in all that open land?
Then, if you really want to, you can reroute the oil trains to the new station and demolish the old one, letting the city build in there. But having two separate train stations works too.
You can add cargo platforms here 37:14 without deleting the exit road. It will just move along the new station size.
I believe a combination of underground and elevated rail lines would be good as it doesn't hinder city growth. Wish I could have told earlier when this series was underway
Can you please dedicate the next video to upgrading buses, trains and trucks. Because some of your vehicles on the map date back to the 1950s.
Great video thank you, may I suggest you to add multiple drop point in the cities to cover up all the demand
A spiral tunnel approach for elevation would be cool to see
You can connect further away inland industries to ports by adding a few cargo terminals inland.
So instead of building the terminals along the shore, build them heading to your industry.
You can even delete the intermediate terminals once connected and the industry will still be connected.
This game could have benefited a lot if it had events, natural or man-made disasters.. Maybe floods, tsunami, earthquakes could damage tracks, bridges, collapse tunnels and road networks or stations and airports so you have to repair them, maybe entire cities could take a major hit to their infrastructure and population, unbalancing lines for a while... For man-made, planes could crash, or trains could get derailed which would cause some delay in shipment unless you repair it and replace the lost vehicle... It could be fun if done in just the right frequency, not like every 5-10 mins there's some disaster, maybe minor manmade disasters every 20-25 yrs and a major natural one every 50 yrs or something... This can keep the money surplus in check and can make the game a tad bit more difficult...
you have some very, very crowded rural roads.
The naming convention is so funny to me:
R= Road or Rail?
T= Train or Trucks?
Love the videos though!
yes but he decided for him R is Rail and T is Truck but yes I saw him sometimes doing a mistake.
And he doesn't use it anyway and often gets confused. Also it was never needed in the first place since the line manager can split the lines by category.
Imagine if they introduced Compulsory Purchase Orders into the game to slow down the demolishing of built-up areas as happens in real life where owners of homes and businesses fight to stay put therefore getting in the way of constructions... :P
SQUIRREL... SQUIRREL... SQUIRREL!!!
Trying to get your attention. 😄 We've been saying in the comments section for episodes back now that all u need to do for town demand is to USE MULTIPLE TRUCK DROP OFFS.
My afternoon sorted
Paul why do you have only have only one truck stop could you not have multiple like Bus stops to increase coverage in your Cities ?
23:33 if you connect that track to the left track then click where the track crossover the right track, a option lets connect to the track
When Biggleswade sawmill needs more logs to expand, could they be brought in by ship from somewhere?
I think that you should go through and re do all your city bus routes as the cities have expanded a lot.
You failing to do a bridge at first attempt because the railway going off the station was pointing down, gave me a headache xD
Hi Squirrel,
Do you have a video on your game settings for Transport Fever 2? I have a decent rig and my map is nowhere near as busy and grown as yours but I am starting to suffer from stutter and slow gameplay. I have followed some of the tips on performance online but that doesn't seem to help much. I would be very interested is how you have set your game up to get such smooth play. Thanks in advance.
For Mablethorpe and Sutton, could you build some roads, using bridges and/or tunnels, across the rail line to alleviate expansion problems?
If you build tunnels under the rail tracks -will the cities grow beyond the rail lines that are blocking the growth?
Yes, they will, just not too far from the exit of the tunnel...
The gift that keeps on giving!!!
Such a great series.
What the game is missing is a railway drawbridge.
I love watching these videos!
Does TF2 allow you to expand towns by building a bridge/s over the top of the railways and waterways?
40:03 can you upgrade the dirt road to a 4 lane tarmac road
Can you bring back my summer car please I need a end to it
Why didn't you just move the train station back a bit instead of deleting all the buildings 😂
At like 45:00 why are you not using the same train to move planks and tools?
Hi Squirrel!
Are disasters, and such modelled in the game at all?
Not sure if you have done it yet, or have plans to do it, but What are the differences in the game of the One Way signals and the Two way sig's. I have experimented with them, and the Two Way always works for me, but the one way never works....not sure what I'm doing wrong...
On one way, the whole track becomes one way (either UP or DOWN) so you have to have a parallel track for the UP and DOWN journey but with a two-way signal, the trains can use the same track for UP and DOWN, a reason why one way won't work maybe bcz you forgot to diamond interchanges or any way for the trains to go on either track, making sure signals are put before the diamond... I don't see any other problem why it won't work... Diamond interchanges make sure the trains can go on the DOWN line when exiting a station and enter using the UP line merging into the same platform...
2 meters! Does your insurance cover flood damage?
Most of time you just do Grandpa type stuff like caring something that does not need any attention and those things which need cares are completely ignores like caring to much to land and give no respect to aesthetics’s and roads construction
Can you make a big mountain rail so you're forced to use two locos
is it possible u turn on infinite mony and delete every cargo thing every rail every station eery shipyard every dock and every vehicle and just put a airfield everywhere and deicde a central city where it all gets disturbuted in a huge 11-12 runway 15-20 cargo terminals and idk disturbute it ?
how do u get the new indusrty on the map do u have to open a file to put it in then put it on the map
It's the Industry Extended (or Expanded) mood from the Steam Workshop, then check your custom mod use under the 'custom' option (top right) when starting a map.
@@Compuvenger hay thanks for u help i now have them thank u so much
Show the cities in close up
Do you have a savegame on steam of this map?
what happens when cities grow into one another?
keep going until there's too much lag

Why do you add so many platforms to every station, I know you might want them for later use, but while that happens merge up the currently disused platform tracks with the used tracks to make it look like a spare platform or a siding for realism, real railways don't make platforms for nothing.
Your road traffic is getting horrible! Traffic jams everywhere. Spend a episode improving that. Put highways between some city's.
I've been binging the series for a few days now and the game goes on sale on Steam. The timing couldn't have been better.
