I noticed that at least one outlet had the orientation with the ground on top. I did that in my house but I have been turning them the other way as most devices where it makes a difference are designed with ground on the bottom unfortunately 😞
@@Jay_Schmidt Yeah, I did the same thing. There is nothing in the NEC (National Electric Code) about outlet orientation. Just people's personal preferences. Though if your inspector wants them a certain way do that for sure. Where I have noticed issues with ground up is things like right angle plugs on power strips, those three light electrical testers (they point down), and a few other things. 90% of the stuff it doesn't matter. To be honest it only takes a few minutes to flip the outlet if it ever becomes a problem, which is what I have done at times.
Jay, Loving the work. I've been doing some similar work on a house built in the 50's. How did you get the knowledge to do all this? do you do contracting work?
Hey, thanks & welcome to the channel! My dad is a pretty hand man, and growing up with him I did a number of small projects like fixing outlets, patching drywall, and lots of painting. Doing that kind of work when I was young pretty much built my confidence to say "heck, I can do anything". Essentially, I'm a graduate of TH-cam university with a focus in Google Search, haha. I read manuals, look at the local codes, and ask for help from others who know more than myself.
Not jealous of your climate at all, Oren. But I am sure you have better views than we do down here.Overall, Im a whimp in the cold and no one is able to get me to leave the house for anything.
@@Jay_Schmidt AMEN cousin, they can have the cold. I don't even like the cold we have here in eastern Virginia, what you get there in the Texas panhandle is brutal because of the wind that comes sweeping down the plains. I don't miss that.
But it looks like Dad did some of the digging LOL
Oh yeah, we worked in shifts. Seeing that I'm the one running a camera it never looks like I'm doing anything 🤣

I installed them all with the ground up. I haven't had any issues yet, but the code flip flops over here and to their orientation.

Some people just love digging. I can’t stand it BUT, it needs to be done.
Aren’t you glad your frost line is just 16”. Imagine it was 48...
