Model S and 3 are fine, Model X and Y is slightly meh, as they just look like blown up frogs. The avant is a beautiful car, and finally an estate with decent range. Absolutely went to the top of my list for going electric next year :)
The Avant! Audi's Wagon is always a sleek looker. And those flush fitted side glass are always cool to look at and should help in aerodynamics and reduce wind noise at high speed.
Audi's design team is on fire recently 🔥 Also, this is the first time that split headlights are executed so well that i really like it! Take notes, BMW.
Are these even split headlights, though? It looks like the same approach that Jeep used on the Cherokee 8 years ago; the slim uppers that provide the "face" of the car are just DRLs and the functional illumination is provided by projectors in a separate housing underneath.
@@vomErsten .......anyone being an automotive geek will know all that, but the argument is vague nitpick considering Audi is presenting it better than its fellow German brands or other manufacturers who done it prior.

I think those body types make more sense as EV's then those SUV's. I would pick the estate version because I'm an estate lover. I think with the estate you (almost) get the same loading capacity as for example the e-tron SUV. But because of the lower and more aerodynamic body you get better range. I'm curious how it represends in the real world. Would love to see a comparison between this estate and the e-tron SUV, loading capacity and range wise.
I feel the exact same way and have been baffled by all the SUVs presented the past 10 years. “Everybody wants SUVs”.. NO, to hell we don’t! But I disagree with you on space and loading capacity. My current Golf 7 estate can load 600L in the trunk, even more if I go below and use the space for the tire or lay down the back seats. But NONE of the SUVs have ever been close to 600L except model Y, which was my favorite future pick, untill the avant has now officially been announced. Also, with EVs being so much affected by wind and speed, the lack of estates vs SUVs in the electric department with proper cV coefficient numbers, as they normally always are sleeker, has been mind boggling me for years! “Oh yeah, let’s make a brick shaped car with short EV range, people will love that” DOH!
These types of concepts from Audi have been surprisingly close to the production versions lately. If you look at the e-tron SUV / e-tron Sportback / e-tron GT, they've all been turned into production models really well. I'm excited to see these on the road.
Nice to see a wagon of this is coming.....hopefully to the US too!!!! I was hoping the E-Tron GT was going to get a wagon since its sister Taycan has one in the Cross Turismo.
I’m an American and I personally like the A6 Sportback for me. My wife drives a Porsche Macan, but I like the estate (station wagon in the US) styling better. She would consider an estate car vs an SUV. She likes smaller SUVs that you don’t have to climb up into, so an estate car makes sense. If they get 400+ miles on a charge, then I’m ready to consider switching to an EV.
I rented an A6 Avant in Germany a couple years back and it was great at 200km/h on the Autobahn, fit all of our gear through the German Alps and Black Forest... super comfortable utility vehicle. I would 100% buy one of these if they brought them to the US. The E-Tron SUVs are not even on the radar.
Thanks Thomas and team for another awesome first look, your reviews are the best out there. I have been waiting to see this first e-tron Avant for an age! Really hope the production model sticks close to this like they did with the e-tron GT.

Projecting your reversing path onto the road would be amazing. It would let other cars and pedestrians know that you are reversing and where your car will be go, before they can even see your car moving. (e.g. if it's between two other cars, they won't see you until you 'peek' out)
