Hi Mike, loving your channel. I'm from the UK where anything is viewed as a weapon by the police. However, I have watched a few videos where bodyguards 'claim' if the law in a country prohibits mace or pepper-spray they use small cans of hairspray. Its effect is to clog breathing and limit sight. Wondered, as I've seen your mace in the face video from 2019 if you would consider doing a video using hairspray as a self-defense alternative to mace or pepper spray.

    - Free shot from behind in serious self-defence scenario: kick to the groin or RNC, depending on situation (namely number of potential threats).
    - Less serious scenario (i. e. breaking up a fight between 'friends'): pull shoulders back and down while (stop)kicking standing leg.
    - From catching the leg and taking the back in sports fight: depends on rule set, i. e. sweep or RNC for grappling, but I really like the version in the video, as well.
    - Defence against video version: Moving away (as shown) is great. Another alternative would be a spinning back fist (like Bas Rutten liked to do). Pretty good chances of catching an over eager pursuer, though somewhat higher risk than just moving away.
    PS: Perfect outro! ;-)

Or drop and flip and land on ur back so you can upkick and recover from the strike, flopping to the ground sounds abnormal but it happens in MMA all the time. Someone gets clobbered, they drop and fall on their back and then its upkick and recover game.

Before I watch all of this, I don't think I'd go for the head or back. Personally, I'd kick out the knee. Its an easy target, and no matter how tough someone is, knees are not tough. They will go down. They drop, from there, there's many options and you have a great positional advantage. As a grappler, I probably wouldn't even bother striking them first unless its the knees, as that offers zero control and you have no idea if they're foing to react the way you expect. It's so easy taking someone to the ground from behind, and that you can do successfully whether they're on meth or not. Basically, giving me your back gives me an easy way to control you. Why would I throw out the opportunity to control someone, in exchange for a strike? Unless the strike is with a sword then no thanks.

What do you think about the JPX pepper gun as an alternative to a firearm? I recently started working on a military base and that means I’m not allowed to carry my gun on base. Not even in my car… so that means I don’t have it on me when I’m going to work or leaving work and I typically stop places before or after work… I don’t have any training but I want to carry something to protect myself and my family. Im thinking a 24 inch asp baton and an Emerson super karambit to start but I wanted to get your opinion. Everything I get I plan on having on me when I leave the house and work is on the list of places I’ve gotta go.
    Thanks

I can finally visualize how you big you are because I've stood next to Shane multiple times in my life, so if I learned nothing from the video I learned how big you are now, I guess

I like either slap clap to the ears or kindey punch and RNC. If the attacker is grappling the victim, palm the forehead and drive the fingers into the eyes. Doesn't matter if I'm touching the eyelids or the eyes when I do it. It's going to be immediate pain and the fingernails will rip the eyelids or scratch the eyes when I yank my hand back. I'd also pull the head back in such a way the fingers are driving inwards to give better purchase. That will peel just about anyone off someone, no matter how strong or determined they are. It will also obscure the vision of the attacker, setting them up for whatever I planned to do when I force them to stop grappling their intended victim.

Isn't targeting the back in Muay Thai an illegal move? Yeah in MMA it's a near free-for-all as long as you don't go for the spine.

Push the back of the knee and drag them into a cranking rear naked choke(id be crouching not laying on my back)
If it's striking I'd open slap the ear and follow up with a cross to the face/ short lead hook to the body as they turn finishing with a clinch to suplex.(assuming all this is self defense)

I imagine it would be sportsmanlike to turn a dude around and let him fight with his guard up. If you do that stuff professionally and frequently you would want a rep for being a gentleman to have the favor returned.

what about a standing RNC? you can pretty much guarantee to choke the guy out (if you know how to apply it properly), and you got a bodyshield in case someone else starts attacking you. Plus your not stuck on the ground and can just let go if you get into trouble and need to box

I go str8 for the neck . A good choke is guaranteed ko . Also if u missposition u can come back with a backfist or a hammer fist. They rarely expect it .

my free shot: donkey punch to the base of the skull.
question: when the opponent is behind you, while you are rushing to get out of the situation, can you back kick them in the gut/nuts? maybe aim for the knees or just stomp their foot with your heel? thoughts?

If they're attacking your wife the last thing you want to do is kick them into your wife, like the side kick to his back. What if they're holding a knife? you want to move them away from whoever they might be attacking

Being 5.5 with a nearly perfect centre of gravity if I got a free shot on someone from behind
It’s gotta be a jump knee to the base of the spine or a elbow to the back of the neck 😂I scare myself sometimes 👌🙏
