@@wtaenycCan't decide, it's between the 2, 4, E, and 7. The 2 is an absolute BLAZER in Manhattan and a fast local in Brooklyn just like the 3, but a bit slow in the Bronx. The 4 is hyper-express and can go pretty fast, but often tones it down from 40-45 to around 25 for no apparent reason in the middle of an express run. However, it can break 50MPH, just not as much as the 3 does, and the 3 goes up to 60mph while the 4 only goes up to 55. The E is pretty darn fast on Queens Blvd, with CBTC consistently going 48 and even 55 sometimes. Probably the best contender for second place so far, as similar to the 3 it has few slow points, it's just not quite as fast. And finally, the 7 is very quick and smooth, I just don't know if a fully local train can be the fastest in NYC with all the express trains that go really really fast. At this point it's anyone's decision, I'd say #2 is between these four lines while #1 is unquestionably the 3 as it frequently breaks 50 and once broke 60(that I've seen) on its express stretch and has very few slow points, only from Chambers St-Fulton St and Clark St-Hoyt St. Otherwise it's a healthy local speed at 31-39mph.
Very calming, soothing & peaceful journey for a Sunday morning.
