    Its both parties fault. JT O'Sullivan explained it perfectly. Justin Fields is not playing with enough urgency, hes missing wide open reads, and constantly checking down too early. However the Bears are making plays that are also drawn up very poorly.

      The issue is the entire team. Some of it is Justin. The thing that was also shown by JT is on EVERY play outside of Justin there was one player that fully messed up the play on all the plays he showed not named Justin. The execution of the plays and lack of effort by players was horrendous. While some of it is on Justin the issues of not having good parts around him is on full display. The Oline regressed from last year and that is hard to do when your at the bottom of the pack last year. The new tackle they signed got beat regularly by Rashan Gary, the right guard knocked down other lineman around him on plays, the left tackle gave up 2 sacks that he didn't block his guy. One of the sacks was on Justin and the rest were on the line. Justin should have been sacked another 6 times that game because of missed blocks that game but he was a magician and pulled his best Vick impression on those plays. He is the entire reason they put up 20 points in that game. Chase Claypool flat out didn't give any effort on plays. The bears flat out lost that trade for him as he isn't even trying.

      53% pressure is a horribly misleading stat. Fields had top 5 time to throw in Week 1. Actually he had top 5 time to throw in all of 2022. His Oline was #2 in pass block win rate last year, only KC was better. What is a telling stat, is he was 2nd worse in holding onto the ball. Only Zach Wilson was worse. Fields cant read the field and is indecisive with the ball, leading to pressure and sacks.

JF is not the single reason the bears failed, its a team effort. But he is a factor in this matter and as everybody on this team he needs to be better. Its unfair to say he lost the game. • @matthewrose8002
      @matthewrose8002 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      They have a bad oline and dline. They don't want to send more than 4 on defense and can't get pressure when they only send 4. They paid a new guard 10 million a year and he sat out all preseason due to his divorce apparently and he was blocking other lineman in the back on plays. The center that was supposed to start is starting at left guard and he isn't strong enough to be the left guard due to another injury to Tevin Jenkins. Both tackles were regularly beat on plays and they gave up 3 sacks that they didn't even block their guy. Fields is the entire offense for the bears and if you put in any other QB into that mess of an offense they won't have a chance behind that line. Fields is going to end up as Derek Carr.

    Bears hired a first time GM, OC, and Head Coach who was a defensive specialist to develop their franchise qb and get it right for once 😂 I wonder why it’s not working out, let’s hire GB quarterback coach to call plays and Indy’s def coordinator to oversee the offense while his defense finishes dead last. Tons of other young QBs have struggled because of historically bad teams they were drafted to/bad coaching and they were still ridiculed called busts and thrown out as soon as they could be replaced. He hasn’t been able to overcome to situation that he was asked to, therefore he’s not that guy. Period.

  • @TheLivedeath

    Bears Oline was 2nd in pass block win rate in 2022. The problem is Fields is 2nd to last in holding onto the ball. Only worse is Zach Wilson. He just can't see the field and isn't decisive with the ball. Just tucks it and runs or take sacks.

    • @bryanlutz7950
      @bryanlutz7950 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      This is just an ignorant and incorrect take. The reason the pass block win rate was so good was due to them having inline tight ends blocking, and shifting the line due to boots/roll outs. It doesn't count double teams, and doesn't count when RB's assist with chips. Something that they literally did nothing of during the packers game. This pass block win rate stat also doesn't include when people are free rushers and/or not touched. How many times in just the packers game did we see the oline completely miss/ignore a packers player giving a free rusher.

    • @Good_Enough4
      @Good_Enough4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@squalie9 No, Fields is trying to throw the ball. He doesn't have time to block for himself as well.
      On a serious note, there shouldn't have been free runners. Most of the time, they rushed 4. The only time there should be a free runner is when they rush 6 or more. On the one play you could, without a shadow of a doubt, blame the line, Jones just completely ignored his assignment or the way they are assigned is blasphemous. On a different "free rusher" play Davis decided to block Patrick instead of the guy he should have been blocking. The line was an absolute mess on a majority of plays and I'm just surprised Fields is alive to play this week.
      This doesn't excuse being check-down Charlie when he did have some semblance of a line. Yes, there was some bad play design, but Fields wasn't looking for and anticipating players getting open.

    Saying the 🐻 play calling was conservative is an understatement, it was crazy. The GB d-line pressured him one less time than the cowboys did in NY. So he faced one less pressure than Jones but still managed 20 points as opposed to zero. The INT was his fault, He was down 17 in the 4th quarter and was too eager to push the ball down field, the defender made a good play. The loss wasn't completely on him. Draft picks, free agent spending, all on O-Lineman and he's still one of the highest pressured QBs in the league. That NEEDS to improve or the next QB up is going to have some of the same problems, doesn't matter who it is.
    Also, when Justin DOES play well, his defense is giving up over 28 points per game. Justin may never be the guy, but he's definitely NOT the one dragging this team down. What kind of defensive head coach has the worst defense in the league two years in a row??????

He stared down one side of the field and that was it. His head never even turned to see what was on the other side and people were open. There is a lot going on with the Bears including the OC but the glaring problem is with Fields. He talked a lot of lip service during the offseason and it has not produced on the field. • @douglaslewis866
    @douglaslewis866 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Any show that promotes a theory that JF has been set up to failure lacks little credibility. Mitch was set up to fail. No one talked about it because, people wanted someone else. So, the management, Media and fans rip him to shreds. We will never know if he could have been better. They did not provide any offensive weapons, find O-linemen, tried to make him a pocket passer without an o-line and not design a game plan to fit his strengths. In spite of all that and with the help of the Defense the Bears went to the Playoffs. It was on Mitch to get the Bears down field to win the game and he did it with legs and pass completions in the clutch. Unfortunately...well... we know what happened. So in the off season did they seek help for the offense no. They wanted Fields. So, they draft him. Put him behind an inferior line, where he gets pounded and then wonder why by now he has not progressed. I do not care how tough is a QB. If when they are young and become pounded when they play, it will have an effect on their development. Last but not least, how do have at least 4 years to find good Linemen and you can't. If watched any of the games save the blowouts and have followed the teams over the years, why do they seem to be able to find Good O- linemen? One reason, they have an inferior Scouting system. An average line coach for the most part, and a horrible off season condition program. Hence the player injuries........Sorry fellows get a new script.

If you can't get the generational qb you put the money in defense and o-line and get a good enough qb and good enough wrs. There's been a mad drought at qb. that's why you're getting dudes like trey lance and zach wilson going in the top 3 of the draft when they should be 5th round guys. This is the same problem Dak has with the cowboys. They practiced him reading the field without giving him the pressure like what actually happens in the game. This is a common fowl that a defensive minded OC coach has problems with they forget key things in practice and it shows in real games ask Lamar Jackson.

    Week 1 Jalen Hurts 22-33 for 170yrds 1td 37rush yards 1fmbl
    Week 2 18-23 193yard 1td 1int 35rushing yards 2tds .
    Justin makes more mistakes fair enough and is more dynamic runner but what exactly of Jalen Hurts doing passing that’s lighting the world on fire in any other roster outside of maybe 5 in the entire league those are losing stats from your passing game . That’s why I can’t take Shady seriously

    Having watched Fields play during his time at Ohio State, he was a very talented QB at the time. His only drawback was that he held onto the ball too long in many cases, waiting for a play to open up. In the pros, you have to throw the receivers open. That being said, I think the Bear coaching staff have tried to turn Fields into something he isn't, namely a pocket QB. I think it's time to trade Fields to a team that will use his talents because the Bears won't.

      David Carr was always going to be a bad QB, no matter where he goes.

      @@VF5 no, I'm talking before they destroyed him. Carr was pretty good, he just got mauled by so many lineman and was never the same. He got worse by the year, it was apparent he was just broken at that point. That's what I think is happening to fields

      @@alexh7064he is not a bust. Like Derek Carr in this sense the oline has failed them both from a career standpoint. When your offensive line isn’t protecting you that clock to get rid of the ball is affected which includes even throwing late or early. Fields isn’t a bust but he needs some protection which he isn’t getting there at all

      @@blackdynamiteSJC I'm not making excuses for Claypool's behavior but that does happen a lot with WRs when their QB is struggling to pass the ball.
      Look at the NY Jets WRs body language (minus Garrett Wilson) last season when Zac Wilson was struggling.

    The bears biggest problem is play calling. Only 1 planned QB run for the guy that does it the best in the whole league is ridiculous. They are trykng to make Fields a pocket passer instead of running. That should be added to his game and not a replacement of what his skills allow him to do. He can do both. It's only 1 game ...
