I built a shelf just under the sumps, leaving enough room to unscrew them. That way when you drop the darn thing, it only falls an inch! Those 20 inch sumps are HEAVY when filled with water. Drop a full one on the floor and it can break.
@@RCworstwater Yeah I bought a tap and a couple of ball valves to do exactly that! But since it adds a leak/failure point I haven’t done it yet. I still have just enough strength to handle these.
I feel like the filters dont actually seal inside those housings. They seem loose like the water would just bypass them... I changed my filters after 3 years and they were still clean but my taps still push out crud.
You bet! And yes, there will be air bubbles that come out of your faucet after you put the new filters in. Might take a couple minutes of water running to get them out.
If it's any help, mine had a red button on the of the filter that I had press to relieve pressure inside. I held that down for a bit (water may come out a bit) and that allowed me to finally twist mine off.

Good tip! We have a video on how to add a drain to the bottom of the sump to make it easier to service.

You do want a nice and clean O ring and remember to lubricate the O ring.
That's good advice for life!
I changed my filters but my water is still dirty. My filters aren’t clearing at all. These are new filters.
Any suggestions?
What are your thoughts on the Lakos pump protection sand separator (in well)

3 years is a long time to leave a filter in. I would recommend changing every 6 months maximum.
Thanks for the quick video!
Do I have to let the water run for a bit after I replace the water filters with new ones?

@@RCworstwater how do you figure out what filter to buy?
What if the filter housing is stuck? Ours is way smaller than yours are but we haven't changed it in who knows how long because we can't get it off...
