    Growing up I'd overshare and was told I complained too much, when I was just describing how I was experiencing the world. Great chat, thank you both for sharing your experiences! 💞

    Not knowing how you like your eggs… it’s UNCANNY how similar so many of our stories are! I always thought I liked my eggs the same way I make them for my husband. But after diagnosis I realized I love them scrambled with maple syrup….which makes him absolutely gag 😂 But now I happily eat them every morning that way ❤

    Ahh friendships. So complicated. I do have good friends, which I’m thankful for. But I will say one thing I have always struggled with is often not understanding just how close those relationships actually are. Often I think we’re closer than we are, and then inevitably I’m hurt when it turns out that just wasn’t the case. I imagine that’s pretty common for us, but yeah, it sucks when you’re constantly going through it but never quite sure why.
    Now, I’ve spent a lot more time focusing on myself. Which I think I’m doing in a relatively healthy way. And in a way, I think that’s put my friendships in a healthier place-even though technically I’m spending less time with them.

    • @FreehandlyMadeAuCrochet
      @FreehandlyMadeAuCrochet 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, I don't feel as close to people as they do me most of the time and sometimes I don't even realize we have crossed into the friends "zone"... I'm like aren't we just acquaintances? LOL

    That's hilarious that you happened to wear the exact same thing. I'm only familiar with Woodshed Theory, so I knew that outfit was the kind of thing she'd usually wear - I clicked through from the thumbnail to see what would be said about the guest cosplaying as the host. Thought maybe it would be a commentary on masking/mirroring. But, nope, complete coincidence (and presumably is also Niese's usual style, so the "cosplaying" could have been the other way around). That's amazing.

    Niese! The way you describe your channel is exactly what is motivating me to want to start doing this myself. This is super motivating, so thank you for that. The autistic TH-cam community really is a quintessential autistic safe space.

      I definitely think that's true on average across all of TH-cam, but it can vary quite a bit from channel to channel, whether that's from creators managing to attract a nicer community or just from strict moderation.

    28:32 Niese put into words something I have experienced all my life. Especially as I got older into high school and young adulthood, and people tend to talk about their personal issues a lot more, I found that people would divulge secrets or feelings or personal information that were very intimate (like their mental health struggles or interpersonal problems for example) that I NEVER would've told them about me. I was always a little shocked like "Oh, you consider me THAT close of a friend???" For some people, I didn't even really know we had reached Friend Status yet. I had assumed we were still acquaintances.

    • @FreehandlyMadeAuCrochet
      @FreehandlyMadeAuCrochet 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      One of my biggest issues besides being overwhelmed with feelings on what someone or people have shared with me... but what do I do with this info.. especially if it's a "secret". I'd rather not know anything.

    I dont remember the details right now but there are two types of empathy. Autistic people have problems with one of them but feels the other one stronger (usually) than neurotypicals.
    Edit: Its "Affective empathy" and "Cognitive empathy".
    Its been a while since i heard about it but if i remember correctly Autistic people struggle with Affective empathy and with Cognitive empathy its way easier. Thats supposed to be the empathy that Autistic people really connect with.
    They talked about it in a Swedish documentary called "Your Personality".

    • @Catlily5
      @Catlily5 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, autistic people usually struggle with cognitive empathy not affective empathy.
