    I love how these podcasts get into really specific corners of autistic experience in a natural way. It is so much more nuanced than a 'list' style presentation. I recognised for the first time that i can allow myself time to process thoughts in conversations. Thank vou both. Also the benefits of crafting ❤

    Two of my favorite people here on TH-cam. 💜💜💜
    Purple Ella was one of the very first people suggested to me to watch, which opened up a whole new world of understanding for me. Thank you both for making this. I am a 60 yr old currently officially undiagnosed but seeking out more information consistently for the past 2 years. So much resonates for me throughout my life, but still searching for the right place for diagnosis. Hate feeling like an imposter, but also feel so very much at home here, for once in my life. ❤

    I have gladly nominated Ella as a TED speaker, not only because I love her videos but because her idea for a talk on the unique experience of having both autism and ADHD seems like a really interesting topic and I'd like to see it happen. /gen
    "Thank you for your speaker nomination -- a valuable contribution to our community!
    We confirm that we have received your nomination and will review it.
    There is no deadline for nominating a speaker. If you've submitted a nomination, it will stay in our database to be considered for future conferences. Due to volume, we are not able to respond personally to each suggestion, but someone from TED will be in touch if needed.
    You can now go back to enjoying TED Talks..."

    Some things are done for your own mind and for different reasons than what might be expected.
    I started playing guitar in the 80s and in later years i have added piano and some bass. I have never really had any thoughts about being an artist or being in a band. Maybe just a fun rehearsal thing sometimes just to play with others. But playing instruments is a personal thing that i do because my mind needs it.
    I did some photography and photo editing from around 1998 to 2004 i think.
    I started drawing/sketching in 2013 to deal with my restless hands. Its been an on and off activity that has helped some with my restless hands and to deal with focus and having no patience.
    My passion though i think would be the maker world. I love all of it but for me on a personal level its more about electronics, microcontrollers, robotics and such. But the whole DIY mentality fits me. I need to be able to solve things myself, to build things myself. To solve problems i did not know i had. There are so much to find within the DIY/Maker world.
    DIY/Maker things also helps me a lot with stimming.

    Ah. Yes. Much to relate to. My kids diagnoses definitely impacted my understanding of self. Dyslexia...dyspraxia. Words we are currently discussing much with my youngest after his recent diagnosis of both. Looking at homeschool next year for certain as a result. He manages but even his 504 is not relieving much stress so would like to approach his education on his level. Scared but excited all at once. Want to see his young life less overwhelming than it has been for me, his dad, and his siblings...Thanks for a good podcast!

    It's interesting what you talked about with the camera/sound issues. For years I have been getting ringing in my ears when I'm listening to people talking (on TH-cam only) without background music in the video. I have to turn down the sound. When I'm on Twitch, watching a video on another platform, or speak to someone on Facetime, I don't get any ringing. Weird huh ? Must be TH-cam's compression or something.

    Good evening ladies. I don't mean to sound rude. I don't know how else to say it but Purple Ella's episode in the past featuring her daughter being gifted made me cringe and not so happy. I know that only 0.2 percent in the general population have this ability but it has becoming stereotypical by attaching it as a label that it applies to every autistic person which it does not. The subject makes good viewership on TH-cam. Sorry Ella. Its just constructive criticism. Ella I haven't watched your videos for a long time. Anyway I hope you are keeping well. All the best. Hello Claire thank you for making my days interesting with your American accent.

    • @PurpleElla
      @PurpleElla 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi; can you let me know which video this is please? Don’t mind constructive criticism but I’m fairly sure I’ve never made a video about my child being gifted?

    • @murtazaarif6507
      @murtazaarif6507 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@PurpleElla Hi, the video titled "Getting an autism diagnosis as a child" posted on 13 Jan 2023 is similar but I think there may have been another video or a Live discussion which I cannot find. I had posted a nice comment on this video as you see but I didn't express my opinion in relation to statistics. I think in the other video which I cannot find I mentioned the 0.2% rate of gifted autistic people in a general population according to official government health statistics in Australia which makes the gifted amongst autism very rare. Having watched this video again I agree that you do not specifically say gifted but I just perceive it that way at least as a general theme of the video but I still think there was another video.

    • @PurpleElla
      @PurpleElla 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@murtazaarif6507 I am confident I would never ever insinuate that giftedness was common or typical in autistic people. I am also confident I have never made a video to exclusively discuss my child’s giftedness because I have never described her as gifted. She is highly academic, and I may have mentioned that in the video you mentioned. I can’t see an issue with accurately describing my child 🤷.
      I guess I can’t be everyone’s cup of tea ☺️

    • @murtazaarif6507
      @murtazaarif6507 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@PurpleEllaWell all I can say is that the issue for me was at the very least the perceived perception I had.
