when Thanos thinks you are a complete madman you know you have gone too far
Word up.
For real lmao
Because Thanos was in his Samaritan phase back then.
@@MinscFromBaldursGate92What was his Samaritan phase? I only know certain things about comic Thanos but I don’t know many giant storylines besides the original Infinity Gauntlet fight.
Thanos died? Oh, he must have been happy about that.
1acroyear1 lol
Well, yes. In canon Thanos seeks death. He makes Drax promise to kill him in this very story.
Thanos doesn't actually die here, I'm pretty sure he was put into a healing cocoon. Either than it I'm remembering stories wrong.
@@KraNisOG he dies for real and appear alongside death in the ending.
@@Winter0263 he was put into a healing cocoon because he remembers the events that happened here. Thanos never actually dies as he is banned from the realm of Death and from dying. He will always come back.
i love how in depth and knowledgeable these videos are. they allow me to breeze through entire comic books without missing out on details and even supplying backstory. Keep it up. You da man!
For those who are wondering why Thanos is not okay with Annihilus goal it's because Keith Giffen, author of Annihialtion and of the previous story Thanos: Samaritan,, was the only one after Jim Starlin and Ron Marz who stayed somewhat faithful to Thanos anti-hero characterisation post-Infinity Gauntlet. Pretty much all other Writers regressed him into a by the numbers villain while also making him less smart and more thuggish, which is the reason why Starlin did the retcon with the clones in Infinity Abyss.
Really?! I never knew this! Could you recommend some good storylines?
I completely zoned out ten minutes in and just watched the art scroll by and played a game where I was guessing when you were on the main story or the entire biography of the next character. Then I dropped the speed down to 75% and took notes on the actual story while on coffee and Adderall. Rob, you are the real life Watcher assigned to Marvel. The writers probably call you for references on their own stories, wow. This story was even better listening to sleepy, high and chill Rob.
Thanos relativity.. Adam warlock: "Why did you work for annihilus?" Thanos: "I don't know it was the hot thing at the time"
Know me annihulus, know fear. Freaking epic.
True
anything thanos related I'm in! especially one of these half hour videos!
Two words, nine including all of these, Thanos Chopper.
Andy Skied where was Adam Warlock
"anything thanos related I'm in!".....So.....if it's Thanos' boxers......?????
Arthur Dotson im in those boxers
Anything thanos related, i rol my eys...
This is why Richard Rider is the greatest of all Green Lantern.....errr I mean, the greatest Nova!!!!
Galactus is fucking awesome. I wish I could see him, full power, on some movie.
João Antônio I really want him to be the next villian after thanos
I heard that Avengers 5 will be about Annihilation. Perfect time to introduce him.
I feel that no mcu Entity will be as strong as their comic counterpart, the comics are absurd.
@@dakodareid3807 Yes the comics will always be stronger, but no the movies are just weak
Comics are far out there, but marvel cinematic universe is literally making everyone extremely weak, never using most of their powers, change extremely important small details for literally no reason at all
Richard Ryder. A person whose nickname could easily be Dick Ryder must not have had a fun time in high school.
William Holly i dont get it
explain please
Rider not Ryder.
William Holly as legit Batman once said "children can be cruel"
William Holly Yeah, lol, that's a rough break. I'd genuinely resent my parents for that foul up.
Rooster vacuum
One of my favorite storylines. Would love for you to continue. Conquest, War and Realm of Kings, the Thanos Imperative, all that
Rob... dude... marvel needs to hire you as a marvel historian... your well spoken and very knowledgeable... I'm grateful for your videos and your enthusiasm... God bless you man
I just wanted to say that I absolutely love your videos. being a student, I'm not able to have time or money to absorb the amount of comics that I wish I could. Thank you for making the internet a better place
anything comicsexplained puts out is gold!!
pizzat4981 man let me you something Rob core
Word life
Most of it, at most.
Galactus is the renewable energy revolution we've been waiting for.
Thank you for the free entertainment. Annihilation is what sparked my love for Cosmic Marvel. The stakes were so high. I just... Phenomenal. Thank you Rob and everyone at Comics Explained.
More Annihilation Please.
Keep the annihilation stuff coming. The annihilation series/war of kings stories are super complex and really cool
I love how this whole Cosmic Marvel run showed how pathetic and insignificant Civil War was.
pious83 Just like Ultimates2 and Civil War 2/IvX
yep, Annihilation is the best marvel event ever, because it leads to many best cosmic crossover event.
This is one of my favorite events! Thanks for covering this!
Glad you finally are getting around to this story arc Rob! It's easily one of my favorite Marvel events and was recently gonna comment and request for you tocover it but kept on forgetting to comment.
...and here I thought Mistress Death was the only one to steal Thanos' heart.
10/10
Nice
I really appreciate how in depth you were with explaining the stories!! You've got a loyal subscriber here!!
Thanks Rob I was really hoping you would do this, it's a great story for cosmic marvel
Wow! What the hell have I been missing???!!!
I more or less stopped reading comic books in 1975. I enjoyed the Avengers and Guardians movies and thought I'd catch up on what was happening in the Marvel universe. I'd made a few comments over the last day or so mocking what I found until
I came upon this. Well... It's immense! If this story was written out in print it could be classed as a literary masterpiece!
Well done to the commentator for making sense of such a convoluting plot and recounting it in a way that makes sense to someone like me who didn't have a clue what has been happening in Marvel for the last forty years. Many thanks.
Cool
man the artwork and covers are sooooooo sick in this whole series! they should continue it and bring Nova into the GOTG officially. they could do an entire phalanx origin or future story, annihilus origin, the aftermath of the kree empire and rebuild mode(before the inhuman takeover), all the annihilus gang during banishment (they attempted), etc.
Nice, Rob! I've been hoping you'd cover this story!
I remember buying CW, and Annihilation at the same time. IMO, Annihilation was the better read. In CW heroes were out, not being heroes, and killing eachother. Meanwhile Annihilation was telling this fun story involving guys like Nova, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Thanos, ect. Back on Earth cloned Thor's were blasting holes in good guys. CW just felt so small in comparison. Like if it were real, you'd want Earth's heroes watching Annihilation to remember how heroes are supposed to be.
Nova was too. I never really got into Nova before this story. After this I wanted more. Sadly he still never really broke out in a big way, but he does appear on Earth from time to time at least. Think he even appeared in a Spiderman cartoon before. If handled right he could be the Green Lantern of Marvel, IMO.
Upcycle Shoes and Kl'rt also
I respect your opinion, but tbh Civil War was better. I get it, you didn't like the fact that the heroes were fighting each other but tbh that was pretty awesome along with the story being told from two people perspective about what the government wanted to do. But yea it's your opinion, tho CW was not small as of impact or how the story was going compared to Annihilation.
The four lead up books to annihilation gave so much depth to the story. Richard rider trying to control the power of all the nova corps. Ronan and Kl'rt (super skrull) going from villian to hero and you find yourself rooting for those characters in the story. It was an amazing story.
I loved the Super Skrull revision into a semi-hero when it was introduced. It was great narrative when the motivation factors were "peer pressure" about his battles and loses against the FF were used. Also his "romantic?"/leadership role with Praxagora was pretty epic!
The Annihilation duology (and The Thanos Imperative) was what made really go back into comics in the late 2000's
Really fun "event", but it feels like nothing on marvel cosmic will ever reach that level again
Just finished reading this story. AMAZING. Very underrated
No matter how early I get to your videos my Mother will never love me.
True
Big true
Please continue this series with conquest, War of Kings and Thanos Imperative. Those events were so epic!
Hey rob, I have recently found your page and im really enjoying it! Thank you for doing this stuff and helping those of us that want to get back into comics a way to get caught up. its been many years since buying my last book but I have recently expressed to my girlfriend that I want to start collecting again, and she agreed. I was watching this and thinking back to the other video you posted where one of the authors recognized you at comic con. I can only imagine the way comics are hitting hollywood how many of the celebs and big wigs are now watching pages like yours to learn about characters they are cast to play. I dont know if youve ever thought about that but its pretty cool to think that huge stars could know exactly who you are and you have no idea . Anyway, just wanted to maybe point that out to you and give you a warm feeling inside lol keep on keepin on man, and thanks again!
I am 55 years old and your videos have rekindled my interest in comics, I collected for years,, but the prices made it prohibitive to continue collecting much less keeping up with the DC and Marvel character storylines. Keep up the good work! and yes your voice is sexy as hell! God bless you Good Sir!
Man, I love getting home from work and seeing some Marvel content from CE. :D Great viewing while I eat some dinner.
I wanted to thank you for doing this video i had been wondering about Drax for a while
2 mins in: Oh, I have already watched this video.... 2 seconds later: Who cares, let's watch this again!
I never cease to admire the effort you put into these videos. Big respect from London
hey man i am still loving tour videos! i hope you see this as well. have you ever considered a podcast as well? i love your videos on you tube and always try to watch them in mt free time. however some days i must watch them and just listen to the audio at work..as you can imagine this chews up a LOT of data. i would definateioy listen to a pod cast just to save my ohone battery and data an dim sure i am not alone! if you have not considered it yet please do!
So Fox actually got something right in the fantastic four movie with Glactus not looking human
That would mean that you're not human.
Galactus is always human appearing in the comics because we are the ones looking and reading about him, so he appears human to us, so why would that be different for film? they got it wrong, especially with him being a cloud with no sentience
Nope cosmic being each race sees him as their race
you get me through my work days i love you
Wow you really know how to tell a story. Best one yet
this video was great, please keep it up
also War of Kings / Annihilation conquest would be awesome; if not, maybe some more clarification of Adam Warlock
Cause I think he's going to be in guardians vol. 2 in a thou months
This story is really the reason why I got into reading Nova comics
Grandpa C
My youngest son is named after him, the new one unfortunately but still a win
Gabriel Halmich yes I agree it is kind of survival of the fittest..
Gabriel Halmich I like the body of all the super girls.....!
Gabriel Halmich USA the great thanos is more than welcome...........!
Gabriel Halmich I guess thanos likes Galactus..also......!
I'm so glad you covered this comic! I have and read Annihilation Conquest but didn't read Annihilation, so thanks for the video! I'm curious, will you be covering Thanos Imperative too? I have and read this comic too but I'm still confused as to where it stands in the timeline. Thanks for the great videos, keep it up!
Funny how Dr. Doom never showed up in this comic. He's killed everyone in it at least once.
I've never read comics so watching your videos helps me understand the movies and now I'm also interesting in comics and plan to start reading them
That was an absolute BEAST of a story. You do such a great job making sure us viewers understand exactly what we need to understand in order to enjoy the story to its fullest potential, having not read it prior to watching your video.
".....KNOW FEAR!" Amazing!
not really, he simply motors on, talking rapidly.
This is one of the most badass storyline in Marvel Comics. I remember binging the entire thing about 8 years ago, and there were so many books. It's nice to be able to listen to you go through it again.
rob you should do war of kings after this.
Or you know.....Do the entire Cosmic event in order.
Enzo Matrix did I ask you ?
I wiuld love to see that
Big durk I was just about to suggest this!!
But do it right, do Annihilation Conquest, X-Men New Genesis, then Ris And Fall of the Shi'ar Empire, all of this being the build-up to War Of Kings.
Fatality, Drax Wins
FLAWLESS VICTORY!
Leak here?!
Nova CONFIRMED for Avengers : Annihilation!!!
Nova is not in it. Neither is Adam Warlock. They will be Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 which is not canceled just postponed to 2022. The Russo Brothers said that Avengers 4 is a unique title not based on a comic book. So Annihilation cannot the title. Annihilus is a straight up Fantastic Four villain, not like Kang the Conqueror who is more of an Avengers villain than FF. Since the only comic Avengers 4 is based off is Avengers: Forever not Annihilation or Annihilation Wave or whatever, and that comic is about Avengers time traveling to recruit Avengers from the past, present and future to fight Kang, which is what Avengers 4 is about except with Thanos, the secret villain talked about would have to be Kang the Conqueror.
Man this story makes me want to see Galactus done right in a movie.
Annihilation is one of the (if not, the BEST) crossover event ever written.
Agreed. The Marvel space stuff may not be as popular, but this story showed how good it can be. I was reading this, and CW at the same time. Annihilation was easily the event out of the two I looked forward to most. I was hoping Rob would get around to this one.
Im not so sure about that. Okay, I didn't read Annihilation, but I did read the entire Age of Apocalypse saga, which for me, after comparing it with many stupid events, like Original Sin, Fear Itself, Axis, Siege, including Civil War, the best well made crossover event was Age of Apocalypse, because every comic in that event was very important.
So I ask you, are you telling me that Annihilation is better than Age of Apocalypse, if so, I must go buy it!
Marvel Cosmic has nothing to envy from Star Wars and Star Trek.
Annihilation is good especially if you like space opera.
Dakota Nelson it was damn good
Thank you for another amazing video!
Great as always Rob. Keep that cosmic marvel goodness coming.
Thanos is always involved in some epic storylines. Rob when you going to cover Infinity?
Also could you cover the Black Order and do you think they'll show up in any forthcoming MCU titles, since they're in a few animated ones??
I'm so happy you did this rob
Loved it man! Thank you
Rob I need more than one video a day. Your voice is the aphrodisiac of my grey little life.
Lmmfao Thanos' last words were fucking "... Interesting." WTAF THAT IS BOSS AS SHIT!!! Who dies like that?
He's like "I didn't expect this" hmmm......... oh well
Reptile6th Naw, he's thinking about Death. She can't ignore him when he resides in her own realm.
Unless Deadpool tries to cockblock him again or Death end up putting him in the friendzone. Thanos just can't catch a break...
Great vid Rob! never knew much about annihilation.
also..any chance you could start putting the names of your music selections in your videos?
Such detailed information layed out perfectly for anyone to understand love all of your videos
Drax needs to be explained. I wanna see you do more Inhumas in space.
Awesome video as always Rob!!
Your voice sounds so weird sped up. I love listening to it at it's natural speed
I could've sworn that I saw this before it was on your list of videos.
First off been watching for a while you do great stuff for comics. Just one question where do you get your background music? I really like it.
great video. more cosmic stories like this would be awesome.
Good job mate, I like your videos cause your passion is clear to see and you have talent for story telling, thank you.
This was a dam good story! And the art was amazing!
Very well done! This was a classic story arc. Will you cover the other death of thanos Nova and starlord as well? The one with the universe that mistress death was killed so nothing dies? Keep the videos going strong explain to the ppl !
Great vid.
You're killing me with the "RAH-nan" the Accuser pronunciation, but good stuff.
I only found this through the playlist. Awesome.
this was amazing to listen to. I read all of annihilation and not of the tie ins and just hearing you talk about it and I know what you where talking about before listing was just cool! I hope you continue on with the cosmic stories and do the cancer verse saga next leading into the annihilators. lol there group name is so hilarious but they are awesome!
Awesome story and well done Rob!
second best comics explained video good job rob
Hey Rob, I was wondering if you planned to cover the 1st volume of Constantine in DC Rebirth or any other Constantine/Justice League Dark stories?
Wow. I love these stories. Still waiting on you to finish this story. War of the kings, realm of the kings and the whole lot of this epic story
Another great video. Part of my daily entertainment.
You forgot to mention that Annihilus is reborn at the very end of the story and he returns in Hickman's Fantastic Four.
Half hour Thanos video!! I was just about to whine about no videos for 20 hours. lol. I forgive you Rob.😄
Thanks for the upload.
I love all the cosmic stuff! Maybe it's cause I Love scifi. I really enjoyed reading Annihilation, Super Skrull is a badass.
He is
Rob: Marvel Max's Supreme! No one else has covered this gem.
P.S. Miracle Man
Thank you for #ComicsExplained 💛💙💚💜
Did not access this channel to hear you talk but watch a good action program!
not first but i want you to keep this content up i dont want you to stop :) really helpful watching you videos
why thanos is my fav charecter in all comics books: Draks reaps hes heart out, thanos:"intresting"
another great one Rob
finally Rob you made this video! thank you! I loved the video but I do have 1 complaint, you skipped over a lot of the story by putting everything in 1 video. It was such a huge event that it should have been done in at least 4 videos. I don't why you would put everything in one video, but it doesn't do the story Justice to leave so many important details out. again thank you for making the video & letting people know about this awesome story arc.
your videos are awesome! thanks!!!
im enjoying the content and i hit the like button
You should make a supercut of all these annihilator stories if you haven't already that would be awesome to watch.
Great stuff man!! Just subscribed
Nova is so awesome in this entire story
I'm so happy, Rob you truly are the best!
Outstanding explanation! Thanks!
