Usually I put just a little tiny bit of paint. Maybe the size of two peanut M&M's to the medium. Now this also depends on hiw much paint you are mixing. I usually mix for a 16x20 canvas and have some leftover. Experiment and see what you can achieve. The less paint you use to color the mixture, the longer you can make the paint last.
School glue does work and can be used. The difference between glue all and school glue is that glue all has more binders and is chemical based. School glue is a water based and even after the paint is dry, too much water could make your paint run. Just be careful if you add resin or a liquid sealer to school glue based paintings.
