@@DarkPa1adin This is not an apples to apples comparison. A display requires a stand of some sort (standing or mounted)... Nothing requires a headphone jack if the unit has bluetooth. The headphone jack and a cd rom would be a more suitable comparison. In my opinion both of which are obsolete pieces of technology at this point.

Btw, you can use any monitor with MacBooks, not only those that have Thunderbolt 3. All you need is an adapter (DisplayPort or HDMI), which is a lot cheaper than choosing a monitor with a built in adapter like this one
actually you can't. and it has nothing to do with resolution. a mac is not like a windows machine, it is not optimized to generic monitors. so the windows machine will look much better unless you have a monitor that is specially made to work with macs. my macbook pro 2018 looks much worse that my windows laptop on any monitor i've used.

Appreciate the review! 3 years later and it seems that this is still a good all around (not perfect) monitor for design and photography, both of which are my use case. I'm very much considering getting this, but i'm curious how you have dealt with the scaling issue for using an external display for mac os? Do you use scaling? if so do you notice degradation in sharpness of images, performance issues, etc.? This is actually the thing that i've been most concerned about in figuring out whether to use a 4k external vs 5k (at 27in).
I could be wrong but I think not all GPU can output 10bit color. So it might be useful for potential buyers to check specs of their laptops/desktop setup
Nice review. I happen to have the similar BenQ SW271 and a Dell U3216p and I personally think 32 is a bit too big and I find with less neck pain if I use the BenQ 27”. A few things, I love the hood that comes with the BenQ to block reflections.
Interesting I picked up a 32 inch 4K lg monitor with P3 wide gamut for $350 at Costco. It doesn’t have thunderbolt and it’s a VA panel but it’s stunning and has beautiful colors. It makes something like this a hard sell when I can get 3 of the LGs for less than the price of one

The Apple display is not really meant for regular people. I don't understand why everybody thinks that. It's specifically targeted towards professionals (and there's tons of companies with tons of professionals, so it's probably going to sell like crazy)
It was not bright enough next to my macboom m1 pro. I had to return it as I got used to bright MacBook m1 screen and could not adjust from 600nit to 350nit, especially working in a bright room.

The Benq 4k monitor I have right now is 3 years old, but it has this vertical lines that appeared suddenly one day, and it is a universal issue with the consumers. Very disappointed. and probably would never buy benq anymore.

@lisa, can you test the Lenovo p27-u10? I have it and like it a lot. 4k + P3 + AdobeRGB + sRGB. I don't have a colorimeter so just assuming it's accurate (seems to be). Apparently it also charges the laptop via USB C (but I don't know what the max wattage is)
This is a good review. I understand the BenQ better now. However, I don't know what to think. Spec for spec, both the 27in 5K LG UltraFine and the 24in 4K UltraFine have better specs than this. I want to like and want the BenQ better, but based on specs I'm not sure I can do that.
Noob here so looking for advice not to be flamed. I love this screen but confused about HDR and this only being 300nits. I thought HDR screens needed to be much brighter. At least 400 to a 1000nits

Back here thinking THIS is the monitor for a new Mac Studio. I already wanted a 32" and even tho the new Studio Display is very nice of course, but I personally think it's overpriced - This looks amazing and better value.

Still wishing for a mobile solution from the monitor industry. Something geared for gaming such as 240hz display and 1440p resolution with multiple display sizes. I'm always in the go and could make use of a bigger screen but only seeing generic solutions so far. Give me a 21" display with 240hz refresh with good color accuracy and thunderbolt 3.

This video contains inaccurate information. This product does NOT use a true 10-bit panel. The panel used is an IPS panel from LG display, the model is LM315WR1-SSB1 and every single panel database website has this listed as 8-bit with FRC. The 32" SW from BenQ does offer a 10-bit panel, but it's twice as expensive as the PD and doesn't have any thunderbolt ports. True 10-bit panel monitors are typically very expensive, I would be honestly shocked if anyone had a true 10-bit panel monitor that was going for $1000 USD.

being 4k, whats the real point of 120hz? not a whole lot runs 4k60+ and if you really want 60+ you wont use 4k anyway. it'll be a couple generations before GPUs can really run 4k120hz anyway, and games have been good at keeping up with it so far
This Ben Q has a measly 300nits of brightness so how is this even comparable to Apple's XDR display which can hit a sustained 1000nits and a peak brightness of 1600nits?! Misleading title

BenQ's official response is that it uses 8bit + FRC, so it's 10-bit support is not a differentiating factor to other 8bit+FRC monitors

Have you used the LG UltraFines though. I'm torn between the 27 inch version of this or one of the LG Ultrafines.
