Absolutely fantastic video! Helped me a lot. I have some questions: (1) I had no idea that there was a JSON implementation. Have you ever encountered a real world use the JSON format in this context? I think it would be powerful as JSON is the "go-to" standard. (2) I am assuming that the certificate authority would be some form of web service. So this would mean, if a certificate authority was involved, that the OPC UA client would need internet access to complete the connection process, is this correct? If this is so, if there is no internet connection available, how could a connection be done still?
Thank you for the feedback, Emile. 1) Yeah, JSON is a relatively recent addition to the mapping technologies. There might be products out there that Implement it that I'm unaware of. My experience with it is on Azure's IoT Solution Accelerator that is based on Azure Industrial IoT Reference architecture. 2)So, OPC UA's Global Discovery Server actually doubles as a discovery server and a Certificate Authority. By default OPC UA communication infrastructures use it as the CA. So you could deploy it on the Cloud, or if you want to keep it off the internet you could deploy it within your enterprise network.
