I loved the HELL out of this scene, it fit so well, being that last SoD and wrapping up the mystery all in one. This is why Suikoden V is so comparable to the brilliance of Suikoden II
When you learn the truth about Euram and his reason he has his persona he does, it really is tragic. He did everyone out of the love and worry for his mother so badly it overtook him and he stopped developing as a man. This outcome really has the best for the story, giving Lusarina the happiest moment she can have, with her brother growing up, while Euram will likely become someone truely dedicated to making the world a better place, rather than trying to snivel for power like his father did.
@cocodiloki I read that Euram also acted the fool so that his mother (a nervous, suicidal wreck after the deaths of two children) would feel needed. The act gradually became the truth, leading to Euram becoming who he was.
Aww...Euram. You know, I really blame his father for the way he turned out. That, and the circumstances. He was just given way too much responsibility at such a young age after his older brother was murdered. :( The whole time, I'm almost positive that he was doing everything just to try and made his dad proud. Really sad. And that's why I decided (with some difficulty) to recruit him! :D Just to see his character development. Thanks for posting! Now, I can watch this whenever I want. ^^
This sounds cold, but Salom deserved it. They say you reap what you sow. This dude set schemes, plots, sewed discord and chaos. I can say I was shocked that the developers allowed such a hostile scene, but it definitely was something that was a monster. The music that goes along with it is amazing.
Euram is jerk coz of his corrupt father, in the ending, Barows family decided to become normal citizen, and gave up their status and estate for the restoration of Falena

I know he divide the spot with Eresh, but IMO Euram deserves to be the true tenfu star. I just love to see characters that progress and show changing(for better) in RPGs, and Euram is really a changed man. Sialeeds in the other hand made me hate her(although i never liked her much).

I know Sialeeds killed Salum so that she could eliminate his house, but the way she gloated and laughed in front of his son, after she killed his father, that was just not needed and bad form. I think Euram jumped ahead of Sialeeds in my list of favourite characters. He was a bumbler and supported what his father did, but he ended up repenting for his past, and dedicated himself to making up for what he and his father did, and restoring honour to his family's name, and serving the prince, and he really loves his sister as well. Although it's a shame that I couldn't get Eresh after I recruited him.
Eresh is a bad mage anyway. You can still explore the dungeon and loot all the chests. The only things you're missing are boss and mini boss battle. First playthrough i'd recommend getting eresh as the boss drop sacred oatch epic skill. Since all epic skill got carried over to new game plus, second playthrough get euram.

When I played this game the first time, I chose Eresh so that I could remove her Pale Gate and Resurrection Runes, as well as earn the Sacred Oath Epic. When I played the game again on Hard Mode, I chose Euram as the final recruit, since with magicians such as Jeane, Levi and Zerase, one more such as Eresh would not make much of a difference. It also seemed to make the story more complete, since Eresh was but one more mystery among several in the Suikoden series.
Yeah, in a way... but Josephine has expressed her feelings for Euram... in a bad way, heh. She did so in the bath scene when she's talking to Faylen with Meroon swimming around the bath.
I couldn't help but feel that Luserina was somewhat indifferent and cold towards her family's fate. While her personal code of honor is admirable, she had no problem with leaving her family to its awful fate. Throughout the story, she rationalizes all their suffering as comeuppance for selfish deeds and even shames herself for every evil deed they do. Most of the cast, especially Sialeeds, share her contempt for the Barows family, so no one really complains. I, however, find it a bit troubling.
The Barrows family did single handedly orchestrate the entire tragedy in Falena. Everything started from the day they stole the Dawn rune and forced Arshtat to bear the Sun rune on her body to prevent it from going out of control, and that was the start of all the tragedy including lordlake's destruction and the tragic scene of her killing her own true love in a madness induced accident. Sure the Godwins were the main antagonists, but the Barrows were the ones that triggered the whole thing. Luserina still cared about her own family. She just doesn't care about the Barrows as a whole. You can tell she still cares about Euram no matter how foppish he is. Her father though was the root of all the evil the Barrows faction has committed. Honestly, I think her reaction is admirable. She neither fell to despair or joined in her family's wrong doing. Instead she had the strength to stand up against her own family.
Eresh is not even that good, to be honest. She lacks the rune of Zerase and the Chain magic of Viki, who are both clearly better. Even then, she as about as useful as Jeane and Levi.

Eresh offers a you a 4 star Rune Archer battalion or the chance to give Jeane another Thunder Magic shot, so actually I find that Eresh is really good.

Not a great guy by any stretch, kind of an asshole, but well made and with lots of potential. Euram was made sort of like Snowe from S4. There was supposed to be character development and a path to redemption; both had to face their inadequacy in the most humiliating manner to turn around.
Suikoden V is really awesome , just start to replaying it. I guess I am going to recruit Euram again :p And by the way , Didn't Luserina falls with Frey during the entire game? But the problems is , how did she know that Frey is in Rainwall when recruiting Euram? xD
I prefer to pick Eresh, as she is my favorite mage in the game. But this scene is really good, thankfully I can watch it though TH-cam so I don't have to do it myself.
Hm...i've never gotten Euram, but cuz i always got Eresh as part of the 108 stars, reason being the fact that you get a new dungeon that pretty much gives you the most experience in the game, helped me alot with training at the end, having the 3 parties.
Only this scene to be honest. Euram is useless gameplaywise, he doesn't fight as a party member, and in war battle he only comes with the war tactic of Rumors/Weaknesses (I don't truly remember which one) that id easily provided by any other character, and to make it worse he comes very late in the game that he only participates in the last War Battle. Eresh is a powerful character in both as a party member or as a 4 star Rune Archer. Eresh gives you access to the Sacred Oath epic Eresh give you access to an extra dungeon where you can farm good levels and money, and the possibility to fight the only more or less challenging boss in this very easy game. There is not a real reason to choose Euram over Eresh unless you really want to watch this scene that you can easily watch in TH-cam, or unless you are not planning to use Eresh in any way or couldn't care less about the fight agaisnt Shepcesska (or whatever his name is).

Sorry for butting in, but the VA quality is indeed pretty sub par even for its era, for both the English and Japanese VA. It seems they just wanted to cut around the corner because there's a lots of characters that needed to be voiced.

This is the greatest gift the Prince could have given Luserina; her brother back. Worth more than gold or jewels

I Pity Euram when i saw his face scared of sialeeds. Thats salum's fault, because of him Euram grew up like that.
