I'm new to dancing, and watching this made the foxtrot make perfect sense, I could do almost all the moves on first try from this video after watching it the first time thanks to the clear explanations. Great job, and thank you very much for posting.
He is teaching a lot of stuff in one short lesson. It's an excellent resource to learn a dance and see the whole picture. Very practical. If you want more detailed stuff you can find other videos that only teach one step at the time. Use both approaches to learn. Even if you take private lessons, it helps to see it and try it and then you arent starting from zero!
I've searched ans searched and searched again to find dance lessons online that are simple, slow, counted, stepped, etc. No other site compares to Michael-Thomas.com The absolute best dance teacher on the entire www. THANK - You!
Thanks for the summary. As an instructor of modern styles of couples dancing I figured I should get a handle on a few styles of couples dancing that have been around for a while. This is intended to go along the line of dance, correct? Just like waltz?
CoJaFlow yes it's a 'travelling dance' but can be on the spot if required, but as stated elsewhere it's not a proper foxtrot, have a look a some clips of the 'International' Foxt Trot, say Marcus and Karen Hilton, or loads of others, to get the correct impression of this wonderful fast moving but smooth dance.
In U.K. this is a 'social Foxtrot' in the 'proper' foxtrot you virtually never close your feet (heel and impetus turns being the main exceptions). Don't like that hold, in ballroom dances you always have a diaphragm to diaphragm hold, i.e. You stay in contact with your partner, and gentlemen keep their fingers (RH) together pointing down, "no bananas"
The man needs to lower on his standing leg first, then give the lady room to move, then extend the free leg and push on on to it with his standing leg. The lady will then feel the lead.
Ma che ballerini sono questi? Per carita. E poi vogliono vendere anche il video. Mi vien che ridere. Ballo molto meglio io e non so ballare bene. I passi devono essere più lunghi e i passi quick si fanno in elevazione.

+Lisalisa IIO Yes, but you will be laughed at if you dance like that. He is a beginner and an appaling dancer.

How can the man lead better? What moves or gestures can he make to help the woman know the next move?

The foxtrot is done with physical contact usually chest to chest and belly to belly. It looks unnatural standing that far apart
Genial.
Going to the side on foxtrot your suppose to step forward back on slow slow the to the side on quick quick
❤❤❤

Better: "Fox Trot from Beginners"!!!
Walter Weber JFK
It would be much less painful to watch if he made it clear that this is "social foxtrot". But honestly, even for social foxtrot, this is rather bad.
thats because her legs are shorter so its off balanced
