I lost my granddad at the start of this year. I must have watched this a million times now, it reminds me of him so much. He was actually a very good driver, but the enthusiasm and devil-may-care attitude...oh, I miss him.
This reminds me of my Grandma we would watch this every time I would visit her at least 4 times a visit. Mr Toad was my favorite, still is! Poop poop!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰
Lucy McCarthy I’m so lucky living in rural Australia. Our state hasn’t had a single covid19 case in over 70 days. It’s just business as usual here. We’re still social distancing and washing hands every 50 minutes (I work in a school. We’re so lucky that our graduates will actually get to have their special dinner and beach picnic) I wish you the best and hope you harness the wisdom of badger 😊
Would Love to know if the animators and model makers actually took the plans from a 1909 Mercer 35J Raceabout and just did the numbers to the scale they needed for the Green "Toad 1." Or if they just made a totally one off Model using just inspiration from cars of the period. T1 is by and far the best looking of the cars that Toad buys. Also, I'd love to know if the audio we hear of its engine was actually recorded from a car of the period. Sounds Amazing when he first cranks it over. ( The stop motion process for these particular scenes must have taken F.O.R.E.V.E.R. to do.) Can almost picture lines of children of that era looking at these things the same way we look at fighter jets or something of the sort, Today in this generation. 100 Miles an Hour in 1909 was I.N.S.A.N.E...... Locomotives were having a hard go of trying to do it Safely.... imagine being "on" one of these motorcars with a monocle windshield made from Real Glass on a Dirt Road? Rocks and so on flying at you and all you've got for protection is a pair of goggles. Made with Glass lenses.....and a pig skin helmet. The Early Motoring pioneers were Super talented and insanely Brave people . Toad just shows that whilst his passion for the Auto is there, his skills clearly are NOT. Crashes like Toad keeps having with these cars in the Film and TV Series , were Not accidents people usually Walked away from.
Top Gear: Edwardian edition.
Used to watch this movie so many times with my late grandma. This was without a doubt her favourite scene!

Yeah my grandfather is the same haha, he's actually got cancer now but i hope he gets through it.
I love how Mr. Toad never learns anything or get his comeuppance but his friends still try to help him
