I can confirm that the *Switch* Panel comes in the same nice sturdy box as well. I threw the entirety of one (switch or multi) box away to save room in the apartment, but kept the sturdy inner box without the shell for the other. If you cut the foam inside down to the size you want, and glue it in place on the bottom to provide a small cushion, it makes a nice, cost effective "black box" of sorts for things you want to store.
Wew tho, I could get that radio panel and then I'd really have the triple crown.
Btw, support for this is really decent even if far from perfect. The Logitech official plugins, as you might have noticed, supply native support for several other games, including XPlane 11, Flight Sim World, Prepar3D, and FSX.. BUT- the panels all work pretty well in DCS and other games, even the radio panel to some degree, with the 3rd party software "DCSFP" (any game) and "DCS-BIOS" (DCS-enhanced features only) softwares. It's a bit tricky to do a first time setup, but once you get it going it's very smooth.
Just a heads up for anyone who doesn't know about that and is itching to make Elite Dangerous, IL-2, or DCS etc. more immersive and hands-on. :)

P.S. I love the purpley pink Cessna 152. I like to fly her under bridges and whatnot in my hometown. She's very forgiving. I'll have to check if we can get the Sparrow Hawk engine mod going in MSFS too. It uses a 125 HP engine instead of the 110 Lycoming engine. An *Aerobat* variant with a Sparrow Hawk mod sounds friggin awesome. Would make it so you wouldn't have to get a diving start first to pull an Immelman, and it would be more realistic since you're playing with fire if you put the base frame through non-rated G-loads, with the FAA and your wings both.
That said, If you haven't tried it, it is really some great stupid fun even in stock MSFS.
*1.* Dive a bit somewhere around a -15 or so pitch attitude, til you're almost in the red IAS.
*2.* Pull up slowly til you're in the green. You should be climbing at around a 5 or 10 degrees pitch up by that point. Even if you have some AOA, and you're essentially only barely climbing at this point, at least it's a *decent enough* boost to your velocity to get you into Immelman/pseudo-Immelman territory.
*3.* Now that you're in the green maneuvering speeds, pull her back firmly til you're totally inverted. Make sure to keep her right on the ball with the rudder pedals if need be (you will at least a little.)
*4.* At this point, it's tempting to just roll over and finish smoothly like this is War Thunder. However, unless you are a perfect ace of a pilot, or perhaps you have some magical assistance from headwinds picking up & disappearing at convenient times, you will not be able to level out proper at this point. I recommend continuing the loop ever so slightly til you're diving about 10 degrees while inverted first. *Then* roll over and level out.
If you do it well like that, you'll have recovered speed again very quickly and be at a slightly higher or a similar elevation and speed compared to when you started your dive in step 1, but in the opposite direction. Considering it's a stock MSFS Cessna 152, that really isn't bad, and it's fun. You're ready to start the whole maneuver over again almost right away, so you can try challenging yourself to see how many you can chain together without screwing up. I can only get 3 chained "clean" so far, but I wanna go for a few more. Just don't show the FAA/CAA. ;P

Good to see you got two panels yourself. As you know I got two for Xmas and love them so much. I didn’t get the radio panel though. They make flying feel so much more real and easier too. I’ve been looking at the smaller panels but they aren’t cheap at just over £100 each and you need a few of them to make the full set. I have windows 11 and both work perfect. Excellent video. We should have a fly together at some point if you’re interested 🤙🤙🤙

Hi Martin, I too have been thinking about adding one or more of the smaller panels. It seems possible to switch each panel to display different information but I’m unsure whether it’s possible to have all the different instruments shown together on a single screen (though they would then be too small to read easily I guess). Also, I have concerns trying to run more than maybe one or two of these together as well as having sufficient USB ports. Perhaps others may add their experience? Ken

I have both of the two panels shown here and also the Switch Panel and along with the Pro Flight Cessna Yoke, the Throttle Quadrant and Cessna Rudder Pedals there's a requirement for 6 USB ports (I don't use the hub on the back of the yoke). Although I've got 8 USB ports on my computer, for ease of installation, I bought a RSHTech 7 Port Powered USB Hub from Amazon, which I've mounted to the back of my desk and permanently connected to a mains power strip on the wall at the back of my desk, along with alll the other stuff (router, NAS, monitors, etc.). It's so easy to plug all the leads in without having to fiddle around with my computer.

  • @Buddy308

I bought a Logi Radio Panel right after MFS was released -- back when they were very difficult to find in stock -- but, as a rank beginner, I delayed installing it until I felt comfortable flying a 152. I finally got to the point where I wanted to learn radio navigation and hooked up the Radio Panel a week ago. It worked a treat. However it then dawned on me that learning GPS navigation would be easier and would actually cost nothing since I already have Air Manager installed and running on touchscreens with a Knobster. All that is necessary is to graduate to a 172 and click the Air Manager G1000 panel for that plane. You just "pop out" the PFD and MPD displays from the sim, drag then to the AM touchscreen, and Bob's your uncle -- no further need for the Radio Panel and, indeed, nowhere to put it since both the Alpha and Bravo units have touchscreens mounted on them to accommodate both PFD and MPD. The total useful life of my expensive Radio Panel was measured in days.
But this was a great video! 😁

I want one. The thing is, if these are anything like the rest of the logitech gear, they're pretty power hungry. To solve this, I recommend a decent USB 3.0 hub with power. 2 amps seems enough, though with some USB power supplies providing up to 4 amps now, and an adapter cable running well under a tenner, you can take the power strain off your computer (which will make everything happier) and just get on with the flying. I know the Logitech yoke has a built in hub, but I'd only use that for light duty stuff like an extra throttle quadrant.

Why aren’t you plugging the two panels into the USB ports on the Flight Yoke ? You need to buy a small power supply but it frees up the PC ports. I’ve got the multi panel, radio panel, and pedals all plugged into mine and use a Dixitree 5V UK mains power adapter from Amazon. It specifically mentions Saitek compatibility.

I had a chance to try the radio panel tonight and had a lot of fun with it. much better than the go flight modules and it worked flawless, I liked it showed my groundspeed in dme mode. Also when turned off and on as I shut down the plane. I may actually get another one of those. My autopilot is on the way excited to try it as well. Can I ask does it keep the big planes such as the airbus on altitude, I ask because I have a cp flight mcp now and even in conjunction with ProSim737 software it won't work on msfs altitude hold or heading on big planes weirdly, it starts wandering all over. If somehow this actually works on the heavy planes I'll be super happy, And may actually weed out my real mcp.

Even the flap toggle and the trim wheel on the panel work, so I don't think it is a USB problem. I'm disassembling it now to see if I can fix it -- if not -- I'll get another one. This is a great addition but it took me hours (upon hours) to get working in MSFS. A comedy of errors saw me testing the unit with the C152 .. whenever I would hit “Fly” it would switch off. Many hours of trolling forums on the internet found an innocuous comment about installing the Oct 2021 drivers which also had the instructions that a master avionics switch must always be mapped/bound and switched on even if an aircraft didn’t have a master avionics switch .. which the C152 I was using as a test bed didn’t. After mapping said function and switching it on she sprang to life at 3am and has been working a treat ever since. Job done with some satisfaction. *yawn* ;-)

I have not tried it with the Airbus, but I don't see why it wouldn't work with it.

Hi and thanks for another helpful and interesting review. I look forward to your promised reviews about using the radio panel for navigation and ILS. I must admit that right now, 'radio' is a mystery to me, so it would be great if you could make it something that us ‘newbies’ will be able to follow please. I already have the multi panel which I’ve found has made using FS2020 that much more enjoyable. I’m not sure the switch panel would be a worthwhile addition. I’ve thought about extending my system with one or two additional Logitech instruments but am unsure how all this would work and connect to my PC. I take it the radio panel runs off yet another USB port? Thanks again. Ken

    • @Huddison
      @Huddison  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi Ken, yes the Radio Panel requires yet another USB port; I'm seriously contemplating a USB hub. I will be releasing videos on Radio/Nav navigation soon.

@@Huddison go for a USB3 hub with a power port. Either one that includes a power supply of at least 2 amps, or buy the usb-3.5mm adapter cable and use a USB power supply of your choice. I'm using the one that came with my phone and it works perfectly to keep all those power hungry logitech devices happy.

I've been signed up to VATSim for five? years but still a virgin! I've just acquired a beast of a laptop, i7, 3080 GPU, added 2TB to 1TB NVMe drives, added 32GB RAM, 2 x throttle quadrants, have MicroSloth MM VR headset, plus 32" monitor, plus had all the Saitek panels (except the switch/throttle panel) for years, but hardly used them. Prolly need to reboot after new driver installs. Did you mean USB *hub* rather than port? I've had problems using USB3 hubs -- as have too many Saitek panels + X52 HOTAS, and not enough USB ports!
So how about a VATSim tutorial re: overview, tools re: charts etc., activities re: pilot + ATC options, sign up, training tutorials, req'd comms software install and config, first tyro steps, etc.
