I have both. my metric wrenches are on the ERNST racks and my SAE on the widgets ERNST are Superior by far and cheaper and ERNST includes labels for free where widgets will charge you extra.
Great demo on these, Jeff! I’ve been on the fence for these for a while. I currently have the Gearwrench Trapmat for my ratchets and wrenches. I bought a couple 27” Husky top boxes that match my 72” Husky 20 drawer rolling bench with a crank up top. They had to match! I’ve already got enough Trapmat to do the additional boxes, but these are interesting!
Thank you for the review. I use wrench racks now but have been thinking of trying these style holders to see if they would take up less room than the racks.
They take up slightly less room, but the biggest advantage i think is you can customize your layout to meet your needs!! say if you have big sets with lots of sizes,or small sets with few sizes!! you cant always find wrench rack holders in the exact size you need!! thanks my friend for joining in!!
I got some of Ernst & Toolbox Widget when I bought a new toolbox. Love the Ernst for Socket Boss & Wrench organizer but prefer the Toolbox Widget for screwdrivers. Some additional bonuses of the Ernst wrench organizer is that you can get them in different colors, my sockets and wrenches are set up red=SAE & blue=Metric, plus they work great for holding files.
The Ernst racks are nice but didn’t work for my shallow drawers I store my wrenches in. Alien Space savor fit my application and I couldn’t be happier. It’s much more modular as you can adjust the space between wrenches. My 32mm to 23mm needed to be laid out at an angle to fit my drawer but from 7-22mm they lay in vertically, and I was able to stuff these all in a much more compact footprint compared to the Ernst would have as well. Tool widget is a waste of money imo. I know it’s an old video, popped up in my feed. Thanks for the review Jeff! Wanted to toss Alien Space savors in for anyone who wants to stuff as many wrenches in a drawer possible or who uses a shallow drawer the Ernst wouldn’t fit in. Very modular design and affordable too unlike the widgets
I like to lay my wrenches flat so I can see them, I use the Harbor Freight magnetic rails for wrenches, ratchets, extensions, screwdrivers and pliers. ;-)
Me too. I lay them flat in my thinnest drawers. Not sure why Tekton and others makes those things so tall. Hard to tell from a video but it seems like they could be at least 1/4" shorter.
Jeff, You're right about the ERNST 5412 is a great addition to the toolbox. I have them as well, and compared to the Widgets, I'll be sticking with the ERNST.
The price is a factor,at least for me!! there about even for quality!! had they had ernst sets out in the begining of the year i wouldnt of bought the widgets!!
Those are nice. I've got foam for my wrenches at work, but the foam is starting to take up valuable real-estate, the Ernst looks to be a good alternative.
They are worth a look,i bought my widgets in january and paid alot!! the earnst came out in july this year, same quality, same foot print, better price!!!!
If it helps anyone's decision, Ernst is also made in the USA, which is important to me anyway. I'm adding up costs right now for a drawer with 160 wrenches and another set coming, and I'm almost at $300 with the Widgets, which is damn near another set of high quality wrenches in my drawer. This is WITH the 30% holiday discount. Ouch. Erst/Tekton is half the price. There is the Widget DIY series which comes in even cheaper, but I think I'm liking the Ernst better. DIY does appear to take up less space than the regular Widget. Thanks for the video, it's a good comparison and I'm leaning Ernst now.
The Ernst definitely seems to be the way to go. I actually coil up heavy gauge wire and separate my wrenches that way. I can fit a lot of wrenches per drawer this way. However, the Ernst is nice, Jeff! Thanks for the video sir
I think the Ernst present a sharper look in the box and the cost is most definitely a deciding factor. I do wish they came in different colors other than red n black. Although that would fit a UGA theme box I chose to go that route "GO DAWGS" sorry, just had to go there. Lol thanks for the review Jeff.
A genuine thanks for this video (rare subject). That being said, said with very sincere respect to you, you might want to check, I think that you are either reading or pronouncing (or both) Ernst wrong. 99% sure it is supposed to be said just like it is spelled (not Ernest as in someone's name, like you say it). Also. while you compared their heights, you did not actually measure either one. Many viewers have THIN drawers so the height is a HUGE issue. As a matter of fact, it would be TOTALLY AWESOME if you made a video just focusing on low rise wrench storage options (for thin drawers) as they are VERY challenging to address and I do not recall ANY TH-cam videos on this subject (& I watch a LOT of TH-cam videos). I would really appreciate a reply with how tall these to items are. If so, thank you in advance.
@@jefftovani5535 I will only buy the socket ones and pliers for my cart because I need the magnets for this shit floor I have in my factory but anything else Ernst/tekton
The Ernst is a very superior design I get them off my independent tool truck dealer and I can fit 4 wrench sets in my 36 snap on cart were on the widgets I could only fit 2 sets
1000 pieces? Probably cost more like 60 just for the plastic. Probably use nylon since it'll need heat and chemical resistance. So now, even if you buy and ender 3 for 200, you'll need to spend another 50 or so upgrading. Don't worry about the CA or magnets for now. Or the software learning curve. Now we're at 300 minimum, and we haven't talked about all the super fun maintenance related things you'll need to learn about 3d printing. We haven't talked about the hours and days and weeks you'll need to print them. We haven't ralked about how your wife will constantly worry about the house burning down. That last one might just be me tho.... I just mean it's not so easy as it seems. The convenience fee may be worthwhile for some (read 'most').
you can buy both ernst and widgets on amazon in different size sets,im having problems with posting direct links at this time!! sorry, but you should have no problem finding them on amazon if there still available!!
The Ernst are 1 and 5/8 inches tall, the widgets are 1 and1/2 inches tall!! Oh I pronounced Ernst wrong, sorry about that!!
We’re all human, right? 😁
Pretty cool I've never seen the Ernst before. I have a set of the widgets and you can get labels for them. Thanks for sharing Jeff!
Yea i spent alot of $ on the widgets, the ernst are same quality but less $!!they came out with the ernst this past july!! thanks my friend!!!
I have both. my metric wrenches are on the ERNST racks and my SAE on the widgets ERNST are Superior by far and cheaper and ERNST includes labels for free where widgets will charge you extra.
You got my vote,i feel the same way!!! thanks my friend for your great feedback!!

Hi tom thanks for joining in!! the widgets are pricey!!!
Thanks for sharing Jeff. I recently learned about the Ernst organizers and are definitely gonna get a few sets in the near future. Take care friend.
They are nice, good price as well!! thanks my friend!!

Hi cart thanks for joining in and sharing your prefrerence! coming in different colors is always cool!! stay tuned!!
Like the wider design and the compactness. Space is premium in your toolbox.
Yes it always comes down to how much room you can gain by better organization!! thanks my friend for joining in!!

Good info on the Alien Space savors!! thank you Mike!!

You use those rails in a toolbox? I assume magnetic size up to hold your tools. Don’t the rails move around a lot?
I have the tool widget, I may to check out the Ernst. I like my tool widget, I paid around $20 a set. I just got them over the summer.
They are both really good!!! ernst are cheaper, same quality!!
Thank you Sir,i need to step up and buy some of these but im still using spings i made myself to hold my wrenches.
They are worth a look!! thanks my friend as always!!
Thank you jeff very informative , I like the ernst style , Enjoy your weekend sir take care
I do to, same quality, better price!!! thanks my friend!!
Thanks for the info Jeff! Can you give a hight dimension on the Ernst, thanks
1inch,5/8 high, the widgets are a 1/8 inch lower!! the price on the widgets is higher!!
@@jefftovani5535 thanks
Thanks
Ernst does make a magnetic version now. 5411M and 5401M for the black. 5413M and 5403M for the red.
Thank you sir for the info!!! more good things to come!!
they are great to have a must to keep a took box organized
Yea they free up some space no doubt!! thanks pappa!!
Any idea how well these will hold up in a cargo van situation? Used in the shelving or tool boxes in the back?
I would say there pretty durable and might hold up for you!!

I really really like the new Tekton ones. If I do buy any those will be the ones I go with. Good video
hi chef, good choise!! thats the ones ill be buying in my next purchase!!
Those are nice. I've got foam for my wrenches at work, but the foam is starting to take up valuable real-estate, the Ernst looks to be a good alternative.
Worth a look happy!! in the future i only plan on buying ernst!
I have the Ernst ones in my roll cart and I'm really happy with them. My big box I have Craig Hall designs organizers, but those are a bit gucci.
Thanks for jumping in and sharing what you use and like!! you can never have to many options!!
I have a potload of the regukar ernst orgainizers. Been interested in the widgets, but now i see ernst has then, i wikkk look at the ernst set. Thanks

Best one is the low profile one from Ernst I can fit all my SAE wrenches in an old craftsman shallow drawer !!!
Thanks for your input,i will look into those!!! stay tuned my friend!!!
The Ernst definitely seems to be the way to go. I actually coil up heavy gauge wire and separate my wrenches that way. I can fit a lot of wrenches per drawer this way. However, the Ernst is nice, Jeff! Thanks for the video sir
Always good to have many options!! thanks my friend, hope all is well!!!
I use coiled up wire as well and really like how it is versatile and inexpensive.
Ernst for the win I like the extra width, the widgets look like just tried to save money thanks for that comparison Jeff
Ernst are a great option, reasonable price, quality! Whish they had these back in January when I bought the widgets!!
Thanks for the video, Jeff!
Good info!
No problem my friend!!
Thanks for the review. The Ernst ones look like the better set. Just a nicer design.
Thats all i will buy in the future!!!!! they wernt out when i invested in widgets, damn!!!!!!
Yea the red is your teams color!!! if i buy anymore they will be earnst!! thanks my friend!!!
Ernst now has five colors available: Black, Red, Blue, Green and Hi-Viz
@vickiswor5870 Thanks Vicki, I have seen the green and maybe the hi viz, but I haven't seen the blue. Goint look now. Lol
I've had the Toolbox Widgets for a few years.. but I'm liking the Tekton...👍
Nothing wrong with widgets, the Ernst are just as good, better deal!! Hard to beat the price!! Thanks my friend for your thoughts!!

Work in progress, thank you for your advice!! the ernst are 1 and 5/8 inches high!! the widgets are 1 and1/2 inches high, hope that helps!!
Thank you. I truly hate the toolbox widgets. Was hoping for this exact review before attempting to spend money on something similar.
Glad i could help!! i love the earnst, quality at a better price than the widgets!!
Tool box widget threw me off when I paid 20 dollars for size markers and it's missing the majority of the sizes
The widgets are expensive!! i own them but i wont buy anymore!!! thanks my friend for sharing your experence with them!!!
@@jefftovani5535 I will only buy the socket ones and pliers for my cart because I need the magnets for this shit floor I have in my factory but anything else Ernst/tekton
Sold my TBW wrench holders. The Ernst is way more compact!
The widget price gouge is huge!!! Need competition in that market and they would be 1/5 the cost
hi my friend i agree with you %100. i buy the enrst ones now!! thanks for joining in!!!

Hi beetle i hear ya!! i like Ersnt !! thanks for checking in!!!!
I got the Ernst and I love them
Hi mark the Ernst are nice no doubt, thanks for joining in!!!!
And how much more are you going to pay with the magnets. Think you will end up cheaper with the widgets.
Thats a good question,i will have to look into that!!! thanks for the feedback, stay tuned!!
You can 3d print 1000 of either for about 12$ with even the cheapest 3d printer... just a thought, 400$ for plastic when 3d printers exist is crazy.
Thanks for the info my friend!! never new that very interesting!!! stay tuned my friend!!
