Fixing rust on my Jeep YJ with POR15

- Another day in the garage working on my 1993 Jeep Wrangler YJ. Today we're going to be fixing up some rust with POR15 Stop Rust Kit. Then we'll be installing a bumper and she'll be one step closer to being back on the trails.

Foam earplugs for bolt holes work well when painting.

Any time you plan on it bring straight forward is when you have Murphy jump all over your project and you have be e broken bolts or something rusted stuck. Glad it was straight forward for you this time.

We’ve learned so much doing our own and by watch JeepSolid videos. Invest in anti seize. Anything screwed/bolted back in (probably not the dash) add the anti seize will save you, or the next owner, some struggles. I hate the torx bolts they use everywhere.

Stock bumper always looks better for sure
You need to go back and washers to those bolts though. Otherwise you will mark up the bumper even mor and the load is concentrated at the bolt head
For sure. Like an idiot I forgot to grab them at that store, but since I knew I was going to be taking the bolts right back out to put the winch plate and winch on, I didn’t worry about it for this video but when you see all the other things go on, you’ll see that it has washers.
Great job! I am in the process of installing new fenders on my '93 Wrangler and I think I'll be using POR15 for painting the fenders...
More often pronounced as 3 separate letters, P-O-R (paint over Rust), foam brush is the way to go.... avoid any threaded holes and bolt threads that may be removed, or adjacent metal (not welded). Topcoat with spray paint when tacky if exposed to UV (it fades but doesn't break down). POR dries really shiny, so I almost always top coat with matt black.
Yeah. It’s very glossy. I hadn’t thought to topcoat with matte spray paint. I have another spot to do and that sounds perfect
