Audra is an ICON. She truly changed what a leading lady looks like. She is a trailblazer that gave way to sooo many artists.

I first saw this concert almost 25 years ago on PBS and joined so I could get the DVD. This mash-up of 3 Andrew Lloyd Webber songs is the best part of the concert. So sad we lost Marin way too early - RIP.

Three outstanding lady vocalists!! Sad that Marin was taken from us at such an early life.

Glorious in every way, all three. Wonderful arrangement. However, when I view this over the years, I am most intrigued and taken that Kuhn was so sick she could barely stand and walked on stage anyhow. It brings the human spirit in this piece to a cellular level among these women. Rest in peace, Marin.

This reminds me of all the amazing talented souls I have met and enjoyed in the performing arts. While I have met many wonderful people who inspire me, the performing artists have done so much good for the universality of the emotions we feel. Songs take me to a heart felt emotional place of good. I have witnessed very unartistic people respond so positively to the arts and performing artists of all sorts. This reminds me of that beautiful, noble quality we all share, no matter who we are!

I’ve owned this video for two decades and this mash-up of three Andrew Lloyd Webber songs, performed by these amazing voices, is my favorite part of the concert. RIP Marin.

What a trio of talent. I’m guessing this is a tribute to Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber. These women can do anything. American treasures indeed.

This was a piece from My Favorite Broadway: The Leading Ladies (in the title) from 1999. The concert was at Carnegie Hall and featured a whole slew of female performers doing what they do best. This trio, however, was really a standout for me.

This was a benefit concert for the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR) and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. It was titled _My Favorite Broadway: The Leading Ladies_ and was held at NYC's Carnegie Hall on September 28, 1998. However, it wasn't broadcast on PBS until December 1, 1999.

Audra McDonald has a beautiful voice! And she uses her own voice, rather than the belting that is so prevalent today.

Judy Kuhn also sings beautifully. I have heard this song before I don't know where. I can't understand why, if you can sing like this, you aren't singing Schubert lieder!

Judy Kuhn is singing a song from Jesus Christ Superstar, which is probably why it sounds familiar if you've seen that

Speaking as a classical singer and a voice teacher, each of these women clearly have classical training... they could do anything they wanted, including Schubert lieder, and they've chosen to bless us in the realm of musical theatre instead. We are so lucky!

"Unexpected Song" is a 1984 song from the musical Song and Dance originally sung by Bernadette Peters. The music was written by Andrew Lloyd Webber, with lyrics by Don Black. It is one of Lloyd Webber's most frequently performed compositions. Wikipedia

There are a lot of good songs from Song and Dance (actually the solo first-act piece is called Tell Me On A Sunday). There's Take That Look Off Your Face, English Girls, Capped Teeth and Caesar Salad, and the title song, Tell Me On A Sunday.
