- Take your seat right in amongst the members of the Multi-Story Orchestra as they perform Steve Reich's Music For A Large Ensemble!
This BBC Prom at the Bold Tendencies car park in Peckham, South East London, was the first Prom ever to be held in a car park.

I was there!!! Unforgettable! Fantastic performance!
hard to believe music can be so beautiful
Oh, wow! Shivers up my spine for a full 15 minutes, and the most fun I've had in a car park EVER.
Reich makes some serious Boss Fight Themes! That an unrivaled level of intensity.
What a gorgeous performance. Bravo!
Thank you BBC !
Can never work out how musicians deal with it as the phase changes must make it hard to keep time. Fabulous sound.
Yes, it's hard with those cross-rhythms creeping in too but at least the conductor's page turns give a cue for the key changes (mostly!) Love Reich's music and watching the musicians loving it and mentally-sweating their way through it is an added treat!
Love the syncopated, Jazzy melodies that sometimes, develop one or two notes at a time. Joyful and celebratory rather than a fearful dirge that dominated 20th Century Western Classical music. The African and Balinese influences are always great to hear!
Thank you so much for this wonderful moment...
This is incredible! The 360 view in unbelievable! :)
What a joy, thank you so much!
My all time favourite!
Excelente interpretacion! la mejor!
Just amaziiiiiiing !!!!
Brilliant !!!
Grande Reich, prende i nostri spiriti e li manda in cielo
Holy crap. It really is 360°.
Zares dober 360 degrees view. Glasba prečudovita.
I like the four-hand piano takes. It makes me think of a mass production process ... with soundtrack.
Epic
I loved it, but I'm surprised that they were consigned to the underground car park. Wasn't the concert hall available, for some reason?
Well, I mean, the ensemble is called the Multi-Story Orchestra you know...
@@rorycraig That's wrong on so many levels.

Well, we didn't see much of the action did we! There were some pretty superb Brass parts, but all we saw was the fiddlers scratching away! Good though!!!!!!
I was thinking that too. I searched in the distance for the brass towards end of the piece but it's all fine. It's a very beautiful piece of music.
It's in 3D - so drag with your mouse and you'll see everyone. I also didn't realise at first....
The big problem of this world is that there are more musicians than public
Well thanks to Anony mouse, I now see the arrows in the top left for panning the screen.
What a Muppet I am!
Ok, we might agree that this performance happened in a park might be unglamour but that doesn't say anything about steve reich work, which i think is amazing
A bit on the anxious side for my taste
I feel a bit taste of anxiety in this version, it's a beauty version but I prefer other performance where the emphasis falls in cadence and in this cadence we can hear those inmitate changes of sound and prhase.
Solo Violist, PLEASE, don't run !!!!
I love this piece, and have done for years. But that performance was painful. The string players haven't understood it at all, and the conductor's interpretation is far too agitated. A pity as the percussionists seem to have got it. Awful.
I think I agree with you. The strings didn't quite conceptualize the immediate fall off of notes and in stead tried to play elongated harmonic notes as is conventional.
agree. and the Instrument sections were not together tight
What do you expect from a performance in a Car Park. The LSO?
therealsweep1 some parts were great but I agree...I think it's slightly too fast as well sounds rushed
I am not a musician. So it's not an expert opinion what i say: this play has accents it the places where I really need to hear it in this piece. There are slower performances, that fail to make us hear and understand certain fine details.
