Ruth you should have been an author, you have a beautiful way with words! Your story telling is captivating! You guys are awesome, the boat is amazing and thank you both for providing beautiful videos. Good luck and please be safe!
I for one would love to read Ruth’s words any time 😁. Surely there’s some book material in all of this - collection of sailing stories, passages etc. maybe we’ll get lucky 😉😉😉
Best sailing channel by far. What an amazing story...raw wood to spectacular sailing vessel and two soul mates with an incredible way with words to go with the visual documentation. Again, well done!
Its a good moment in time to implant in your mind. When land stresses get to you, pause and breath and remember. My entire life slowed down considerably after a few years cruising, while friends still seemed to be rushing, going nowhere and chasing something other than life. It takes all sorts.......
We are 78 and 75 and made the 3300 miles to FP after 30 days at wonderful sea. We are in a cool place you will love. GO as soon as you can. You will never regret getting farther along the route.
Plans fail most everday but setting goals has an answer comming. This is much more freedom than by controling and rearranging plans that fail more often...bendiciones...m
Most apt caption EVER...,Ruth @9:35 eclipsing the setting sun , when the caption "so Pretty" appears....... I agree, Ruth IS "So Pretty." She will bring "pretty" to anything she stands on!!!!!
This was an awesome episode. Thank you guys. It is so fantastic to see Garrett in this place. It was heartbreaking to watch how down he was towards the end of the build. What a brilliant and truly inspiring couple....
Hey new to the channel (love the content :) ) and also a medical Dr. here under pseudonym . I saw her puffy eyes i.e eye bags and immediadetly alarm bells went off... Because it seither a kidney/liver problem or she suffers from hypoglycemic (Being (pre-)diabetic). One contributor to kidney problem is when you consume too much cooked protein (Fish maybe). Your kidney is a detoxifier, and it basically takes all your blood, like an oil filter, and filters it. So, here’s what happens with your kidneys. When you consume too much cooked protein, it will turn into excessive waste because your body cannot process any excess amount of protein. Eye bags or under-eye circles are all about internal problems, specifically kidney problem. People with puffy eyes or bags under eyes usually eat too few vegetables. When someone is hypoglycemic, with Fat Storing Hormone resistance, or is diabetic, they usually have puffiness and dark circles underneath their eyes. Love the channel but please get help because her body clearly shows signs of being sick and she needs to change her diet asap otherwise she will permanently damage her body! The whole thing can be reversed she just needs to eat more vegetables, less Carbs and maybe less protein! sorry for the more serious post but if one possesses certain knowledge it would wrong to withold it if it can help someone! I myself have to check my diet liek any other person this happens to a lot of people.
And once again you help to recharge and reset me too. We are halfway up a flight of locks, the moorings are nose to tail. Five more locks tomorrow and soon away from the railway and the main road and more into the countryside, but still close enough to the discount store to continue provisioning for a much less busy canal 🙂
You both kicking it on the rails of the shady side with your soulmate, man that’s it. Especially on a wooden boat that takes me back to working seminars with the Pardeys, silent auctions, selling books. Wanting out of my glassed boat, to be like that moment, sitting on that very spot you two looked so happy in love with a sprinkle of relief you were done finishing the bottom work and absorbed into the beautiful sea with no plans or rush. Such joy for you that I watch your videos just as I’m done with the day, in bed and going to sleep living vicariously, absorbing your energy hopefully into sleep. What a boat and couple. Thank you.
Garret seems very much at ease which is nice to see. Ruth your words capture and share the moment and mood well. I’m happy to see you point in a direction and make it happen as you go. You have an amazing craft, gobs of experience and adventurous souls. Sometimes planning or thinking too much wrings the joy out of an adventure. I like what I see. Thanks for bringing us along with!
One of the most relaxing videos you guys have ever done. Ruth, me lady, your life at sea observations at times sound like prose. You're a good writer. Both of you, keep up the good work.
This is what you both worked really hard for and I say enjoy it to the max! There is a quote that says "If you do what you love, it is the best way to relax." This is so true and the smiles on your faces tells it all. Take care!
This was a very beautiful video. This is why you built her. I've watched you guys since you poured her keel. You put a lot of love into her, and it shows in how much you both enjoy her. Good sailing with a slick bottom.
I remember going on extended 3 week long bike trips, averaging 70-90 mi. per day (30 mi. if feeling seldom under the weather). It was amazing.. About an hour along after striking the tent and moving off and along the route, a quick stop for breakfast of whatever was available, and some good tasting coffee, then back on the bike. After pedaling an hour or so the brain just stops. I used to say "my mind turns to mush" thoughts come slow and everything goes to autopilot mode. So nice.. 'hard to think' was really hard to think of nonsensical stresses brought on by modern living. It was so easy so nice, just pedal to get the miles in every day, no worries in the world, mental detox! I valued my annual 3 week bike trips every year just to get my mind screwed down and straight again. I don't know how I could get through the year without them. Looking back I see now those trips were extended meditations. They taught me a lot about living the right way. It doesn't take a lot of money to get rich, it takes the peace of mind found in getting priorities straight. Now years gone by, I can look back and jump right back into that meditative mind set, and just enjoy things simply for what they are, no illusions. I learned so much by unawaringly looking within, while bike-pedaling the miles away. All the answers are there, right inside - the only meaning of life that matters. We all of us on the planet need to mentally detox, few of us understand that tiny bit of honesty that everyone holds within, if only we looked for it. Few do!
A recommendation for the cravaile jack. Occasionally you will come across a piece of debris in the water. Very frequently under that debris will be a school of mahi mahi. Cut the jack into cubes and feed the fish that swim around that floating debris. Once you hook a mahi, leave him in the water and hook another. With one left swimming in the water you will be able to hook multiple mahi. Once you have your needs met bring in the one you first hooked and carry on.
I have watched you both work very hard building this beautiful boat , and all the hard work shows . The boat is beautiful . You make a awesome couple and Ruth you have such a amazing personality. Can't wait to see your next video . Thank you for sharing your life with us .
Third time watching, my brain just went into relax mode, Ruth you are a very talented narrator. Garrett still dreaming of the West...as I did as a young man.Love this channel, keep it up y'all 👍❤️🇺🇸
Good job folks! You've worked so *very* hard building & maintaining that ⛵boat⛵. I remember the main giving you one frustration/setback after another. It got to a point where Garrett seemed to be on the cusp of a GUTTERAL SCREAM from the exasperation that Damn Diesel Engine was causing you two. You worked through it, & now look how sweet it is! Well Done to 2 of my *favorite* people. 🙏🦉 🏞️🏍️
One Labor Day weekend during a heat wave in San Diego, we asked ourselves where it would be cooler temp and calmer vibes… we decided to leave for Catalina Island at 7PM and let the boat go 3-5 knots, 75 degree air, calm seas, and good night sleeps each of us while the other was on watch. it’s one of the most enjoyable trips we’ve taken.😊
Hiya crew..an aside, yet important- if your truely setting a 'detox- heading' that would include reducing booze..& for that matter- caffeine reduction. For me that's been a ++. . I am somewhat perplexed regarding all the talk 'bout zero'n in on kicking back reducing the climate of stress is unclear considering you have been hugely stress free for quiet a while. WoW, what a cool knives set holster..luv you both..sweet times to you🎈
There is a trumpeter we get in the cray pots ..... cooking it fresh its ok but not the best (very strong flavor) .... give it a bit of air time and then freeze it for a couple of day and the strong taste seems to mellow out a lot
Watching you two interact is just a beautiful thing. I'm sure it's not always perfect but you sure come close. As always thank you for taking "us" along.
I love Rediviva so much more than those modern fiberglass vessels. Such a classy lady! And it’s still wonderful to see you two relaxed and smiling. Huzzah!
I've eaten so much canned tuna as a land person almost any fresh caught fish is delicious for me. Your friends who are patiently waiting for you will be so happy to show you and your beautiful ship off! The ports far west of you are somewhat bored of seeing typical fiberglass and will celebrate your arrival !
Another really groovy episode. I fully enjoy your narration, that presents a peaceful story time of the sea. Your home looked very beautiful today, welcoming, and that felt good. Keep you dreams as free as your travels, and your world should end each day with a smile and a bit of wonderment. Peace out.
Thank you, Ol' Ron here. workin on 92 and I envy youse guys. I started watching you at the time you cast your concert keel, dodn't hink that would work, glad I was wrong. Take care. Gramps
An incredibly underrated talent that, to live in the moment. I've been chasing the moment and got close a few times so, I for one, am V jealous. My green isnt too garish but it is there and it does come with a sly smile. You and Ruth are collecting a vast wealth of moments which you don't mind sharing so thanks. Hugs to Swab...
So awesome. I was chilling out while watching. What a great day to be out there. Calm waters. Blue sky. Just slowly cruising along. Thanks for the ride!
I understand the brain detox completely. My wife and I are both taking care of my 84 and 85 year old Mom And Dad. As well as my wifes 83 year old Mom. Privacy and Peace of Mind is only a available on my old Harley but its not the same for us as it is for the 2 of you
Hi guys, a lot of the channels that I’m watching all the women of fallen pregnant just thought I’d give you a heads up LOL love the videos keep up the good work ,from Australia
Its so easy to listen to and attempt to live up to other's expectations. Its also easy to speak fast and set goals for yourselves that are not really in your heart. Bravo to both of you for having the courage to be individuals among the sea. You have nobody to satisfy except yourselves and each other. I think its great that you find satisfaction in sailing "somewhere" without having to go "big." Its not really important where you go; its just important that the both of you agree to go somewhere and that you enjoy that particular journey. Take care and thank you for sharing.....
I get so excited to see new episodes! First time I actually watch w my wife.. Then 2nd time for my bedtime story I let ruths gentle eloquent voice spoken with true passion and love, in the most well spoken amd honest way possible, sing me to sleep! Fairwinds friends you two rock! Goodnight❤!
We cook Jack Crevalle for our dogs, they liked it. It's unfortunate that often the Crevalle swallow the jig real deep. We tried several recipes including soaking it in milk which works on Mackerel but not on Jack! 😂
I haven't watched in a while. I was really into the build and construction. I'm sure I watched every video. I'm happy your endless hard work is giving you these unforgettable moments. Have fun out there! Live the dream!

You salty scallywags are living your best life. Keep it up!
The beautiful salty poet has returned anew. How I envy your freedom and youth. Thank you the vicarious escape from my mundanity.
I feel so relaxed, watching the ocean, the sea, and the two of you.
One of, if not the most beautiful videos you've made. Thank you.
Calvin and Karen watching from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦..Love your videos and your bravery...
Best sailing channel by far. What an amazing story...raw wood to spectacular sailing vessel and two soul mates with an incredible way with words to go with the visual documentation. Again, well done!

Beautiful. And Rediviva looks stunning.
This was an awesome episode. Thank you guys. It is so fantastic to see Garrett in this place. It was heartbreaking to watch how down he was towards the end of the build. What a brilliant and truly inspiring couple....

I had a pasta meatball dish in Sicily a few years ago that was made with (what I think was) skipjack tuna. Quite tasty.
It's not about the destination, but about the journey. I ride a Harley. I know that feeling you go through, about that one day that is perfect.
