Great shave, those pics from your vacation were amazing to see! I've always wondered why people care about metal grade in razors because the use case doesn't call for anything crazy
Thanks Ben! Yeah, that was exactly my point in the video. The only real impacts that the metal grade has as it pertains to SS safety razors, is the machinability of the comparatively softer 303, which reduces time on the machines and lowers production costs, and is also easier on the tooling, which can actually allow for tighter details and higher tolerances (or at least an easier time achieving them). All of those things are good for the consumer, and one of the reasons I'm considering switching from 316 to 303 for Aylsworth SS razors in the future.
@@aylsworthshaves8717 I think that's a win, allowing buyers to not feel the impacts of inflation while still offering a product that's going to last a lifetime
@@onepassben Haha. Exactly. I think we're saying the same thing. When other similar quality made in North America SS razors routinely sell for $250 - $300 USD, being able to purchase an SS Overlander or Drakkant at $170 - $185 is an absolute win. Whether it's 303 or 316 makes no qualitative difference at the end of the day. Unless you're talking about the increase in quality of life you get by keeping a few extra bucks in your pocket! 🙌🙌🙌
Nice review! I have the Aluminum Overlander and the top cap on it is super smooth, virtually glass-like. I was just wondering how smooth is the SS Overlander’s top cap? Is it super smooth, or more on the rough side, and similar to the Rockwell 6S?
Thanks! Have never used the Pearl, but I would rate the Overlander as efficient as the 5 or 6 on the 6C and as comfortable or moreso. Probably similar to the Yates 921 M plate in efficient but smoother. Cheers!
Calling any razor 'The best razor ever made' is a little much tbh. I wouldn't even be bold enough to say that about the Drakkant which I designed myself 😂 The SS Overlander is definitely a well made razor though, and I would probably place it in my top 3 razors right now.
@@billjohnsonseattle There is no such thing as better or best. The razor I reach for most is my 6S. Plate 4 with a feather is for me the absolute best shave ever. For me better than my 3 wolfmans that cost how much!?? 🤣🤣🤣 My wolfmans do look nicer but I'm shaving with them, not taking them to bed with me.
@@peterkaufmann8579 Everyone is definitely different…. I liked the 6S but ended up selling it because I get better results from 2 other razors, both of which incidentally cost a good amount less…
Great breakdown of all products Kaleb!
Thanks Matt!
A very thorough review. Thank you.
Thank you Bradley!
Great shave. I am going to pick up the Karve Overlander in aluminum when it's back in stock.

Great shave, enjoy Francia.
Thank you sir!
Great shave! Love the look of your brush! Safe travels!
Thanks Joe!!
Nice shave. France sounds nice. Safe travels.
Thanks Steve!

The SS Overlander is bead blasted, but not as rough as the Rockwell 6S. I find it plenty smooth.
Enjoy your channwl Hiw dies this razor compare with the Pearl Flexi, the Rockwell 6c or the Yates ?

Wonderful shave. Enjoy France. About to order one (already have Drakkant!) Which handle design do you prefer? I love the traditional Argyll.
Thanks! I actually really enjoy both handle designs, but if I had to choose just one I'd probably go for the argyle too.
You took the SS GOATLANDER on a trip? I’d be sick if that got seized by some over zealous TSA agent. Great shave Kaleb!
Hahaha For sure. It's one of three pieces of kit that I brought with me while away, and I'd be totally devastated if the TSA confiscated ANY of them!!
@@aylsworthshaves8717 hahaha, yeah, bold move there for sure, I’d be packing a razor I wouldn’t be heartbroken if it got taken.
Was this shave better than your last shave or about the same would you say? Would you say that the Overlander is the best razor ever made? Your best?

@@aylsworthshaves8717 for me the Overlander doesn't make the top 3 cut. It sits just behind my 34C. I guess as they say YMMV. 🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻
@@peterkaufmann8579 Hi Peter, just curious as to which other razors you consider better than the Overlander?
