I noticed that you have a real passion about collecting certain types of coins. I like it just for the hobby. I have a 1941S nickel that you can have since you are collecting nickels by years in a book folder. When I'm gone, my adult children says they are not interested in old coins, and that they would only spend them. Let me know if you want it, and I will send it to you to put in your book folder for nickels.
I scored a 1938 Nickels S about 2 weeks ago. I didn't realize it was one until I double checked the date. I missed it because the 38 is basically in mint shinny condition and you can still see some step lines. I thought it was a newer coin. Not one scratch or any fading too it. It was a good find!
Working for a supermarket for 23 years as a grocery clerk and a cashier I was able to collect many coins that customers used to purchase their groceries. In nickels I have collected a few 1938 PD&S, 1939 PD&S, many silver war nickels from 1942 to 1945 and a couple of 1950D nickels as well. I remembered this one customer had given me a roll of $5.00 in mercury dimes as part of a payment towards groceries. That was a big score. Thought I am retired I sure do miss being a cashier clerk.
Very cool! A first ever coin find is extremely rare, especially if you have hunted for a long time. When I met up with two American coin collectors in Luzern last week, I did a coin roll hunt with them and scored a 10 Rappen 1894, which is a first ever coin for me as well! What crazy luck this summer has brought us all ^^
Nice find! I think it was the second box that I ever hunted that I found a a 38s in. I’ve found plenty of 38 and 39 coins, buffalo nickels, and even a V nickel, but the war nickels have been eluding me. Two boxes ago, I finally found not one, but TWO war nickels! (43p and 45s). I also found two 39p and a 38p. Just three days ago, I hunted another box of nickels and ANOTHER 43p war nickel along with a 2005s proof and...wait for it.....two more 39p nickels. Not going to lie, this hobby is addictive. I love the thrill of the hunt.
I never knew that the '38 D + S mint marks were that uncommon! I have found quite a few 1938 nickels with a mint mark. I will have to go through my huge jar of pre- 1964 jeffersons to pull out those rarer 30s nickels!

Thanks Christian! Nickels have been great recently- I had a streak of good boxes coming in and I've stashed a lot of them away to gradually go through. I think I've saved the best for last based on the ender that I have coming up for the finale, but we will just have to wait and see. Good luck to you as well!
I agree with you on those 30's nickels. The 3's look a lot like the japanese character ろ "ro" You found a lot of really cool nickels, and I am glad you got so many great finds. What an amazing box.
Hi enjoy your program I’m new at all this coin roll seems very time consuming is there a better way to acquire let’s say high end silver dollars walking liberties for instance Without buying from a dealer or coi; rolling or going to bank. Can you acquire rolls directly from SF mint or Philly mint ..I’m looking for that magic coin to get me out of this situation and move to CA
USApennyHunter 43 mate the only ad he has is when the freaking video is over, so shut up please it’s not like he’s doing it to stuff as many ads as he can, he also did some editing to make it shorter
Nice Finds Ryan. You have to love the 30's Jeff's anytime. Cool beginning to the video as a flashback... 6 hrs earlier...or in my case 1 week earlier as it takes that long to go through a box.
Cool 38 S!!! I have, very surprisingly found one of these too!! (The 38 s). It is definitely my best Coin I have ever found. I found it on the second nickel box I ever opened! In the same box I also found a silver and a commemorative 2005 gold plated nickel (estimated value only $3 but still really cool!)
Congrats, man! Very hard to find those early Jeffersons w/ a mint mark. I'm still searching. My summer hunts have been slow since I found that 2-headed 1936 magician's coin. Highlights have been a 1925 buffalo ender and a 1943-D war nickel (15.2M minted). HH
I got chills seeing that and I found a Coin dump a couple months ago. Found 5 or 6 book spot fillers. 38d 38s 39d 39s and 54s. And the 54s was s/d!! Only 2 more to fill!! 43d and 50d!! Happy hunting!! JJ I also have the 55d/s.
@Quin I expect this idea has been mentioned before somewhere 'down there' in all the comments (NOT gonna go looking for it!) but: Why don't you get a 2nd coin place mat, so you don't have to keep clearing and flipping over the single one you have? Also, if you keep covering your place mat with coins, and sliding them off it, you will eventually wear down the surfaces of it-they're not indestructible! Just a coupla thoughts. Keep up the good work. I collect coins too, but mainly for their silver and gold content, so mostly bullion type coins. Saying that, I DO have several kilos of both pre & post 1920 silver British coins (1920 was the year Brit silver coins went from 92.5% sterling silver to 50% silver content) from silver 'thrupenny' (3d.) to 'barmaid's demise' four shillings (so-called as Victorian barmaids oft mistook them for full 5s. crowns) & five shilling crowns. My fave silver coin? The huge 2000grain (480grain = 1ozt) of sterling silver Panamanian 20Balboas, that were minted from 1971-1985, like this one: www.chards.co.uk/1974-silver-panama-20-balboas-proof-coin/3357 I have about 20x or so of these!
Yeah I could use a second placemat, I guess I just want to use the one to demonstrate what a normal user would experience because most people aren't going to buy 2 of the same mat. It's true that the placemats can get worn down, but they are pretty durable, even against larger coins like quarters. I use the same set of placemats over and over again in my videos and they don't show much sign of wear. And that's cool that you collect silver and gold! It's not really my thing but everybody collects differently. Happy stacking!
some times I get a lot of Dimes in the Rolls and I went into my Credit Union and seen my Favorite Teller putting the Pennies into the rolls with a little red funnel.
Thank you! I have penny and nickel placemats available here: www.quinscoins.com I am working on another placemat design right now and hope to roll it out soon!

A good hunt Quin.
Recently finished the 1949 series and a 1950 plain!
Good call on putting the 61 phily to the side. There are five pre-60s nickels that you do save with a higher mintage than that 61 plain!
Good point! Maybe I should broaden my search to include those 5...or narrow it to exclude the high mintage sub-60s. Hmm...
How can u tell a war coin

Hi there
I will have to look, but I think I may have one 1938 Jefferson Nickel. What are these worth?
Great find!
Great hunt! Congrats on your '38s!
Just scored a 1939-D (3.5M minted)!

Do you do live hunts? would be cool
Haven’t found anything that awesome but I did find 2 1953 s nickels in my last box so I’ll take it
The 1938 S is a great find. Been striking out on nickels. I have not found a circulated nickel box in almost 2 months.
