    Cracking session Robbie! The best point you have made in this video is to slow your retrieve right down when a using Strike Tiger micro spoon. They are easy to use like that and the results speak for themselves :)

    Loving it Robbie, you need to get to Tassie for a flick!
    my best was 35yo in little pine tier in central Tassie, it was an 80cm brown on a surface fly, it ran me around the lake for 30 mins before I got it in the net!. Its still on the wall today!

    • @robbiefishing
      @robbiefishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      WOW Now that's a true monster. I went to Tassie back in February for a wedding. I wasn't fishing. I was only there in Ulverstone for a few days and absolutely loved it. I dream of the day that I get back down there.

    thankyou for the vid mate! Love your work. Dont tell anyone but the 10 gram wonder wobbler in silver or gold is my go to lure in lakes and resevoirs, especially when you have to cast into wind. My best brown{it wasnt ex brood stock) was 76cm and fell to a gold wonder wobbler spoon. Often people dont realize that a cheap 6 dollar spoon lure can be so effective. I normally fly fish but if im hitting water with big fish and the wind is going to make fly fishing a pain in the proverbial, spoons! Wonder frickin wobblin spoons! Ive caught over 50 trout over 2kg on these bits of metal. Gotta love the metal!

    I find micro spoons work very well even on highly pressured water because so few other people fish them. Most fish have never seen one.

    My dad and me used to fish the small streams in Southland NZ most would head off to the big rivers like the Matura and Oreti along with others , We used to kill it best was 21 on a news years morning with me carrying a hang over all in the 1/3 pound range and fight to the bitter end a great time never forgotten.

    hey robbie, love the videos, just something I noticed at the beginning of the video that you have the hooks in the eye of the guides, if you put it on the arms that attach the ring to the rod they are less likely to break and your rod will have a much longer life for you to enjoy. keep up the good fishing mate

    Great video ! Thanks. I’ve been fishing small spoons since the early 70’s in streams in Colorado and Wyoming. I replace the single hooks with “barbless” trebles, better for the fish and a lot more hook ups.

    Nice video Robbie,
    I’m pretty happy with my hook up rate with single hooks. Probably a confidence thing again but I have found single hooks are more or just as productive as trebles without doing as much damage to a fish.

    • @robbiefishing

    Your running 4 pound mono Robbie? Always found 6 pound mono better for rough and tumble creek fishing,just found 4 pound gets roughed up and you end up getting break off's like you had with the first fish on the micro spoon. Just my two bobs worth LOL. Beautiful browns mate and top footage.

    • @robbiefishing
      @robbiefishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks mate. I reckon you are right. Yes, I always run 4lb. I prefer it for better casting but 6 is better for a few other reasons including that. I tried to buy a new spool of line a ACF in Wang last week but they were out of stock. Thankfully I was able to buy a 100m spool of 4lm this week so can finally replace that old line.
