  • Today I take you step-by-step through my process for converting color landscape images into black and white in about 5 minutes without plugins or presets in Lightroom. This same technique works in Adobe Camera Raw, Photoshop, Capture one, and just about any other image editing application. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for sharing. I love taking photos but am really bad at editing. I am back to shooting JPEG and will probably leave it at that, I am after all capturing memories, not creating art. That being said, I love watching and learning from others who are more skilled than I am. Ciao from Portugal. Jan.

Thanks for the kind words! I hope this has been helpful and that you give editing a try now and then, once you’re comfortable with it. It can be freeing to shoot in jpeg though!

Love this.....thanks. I've been experimenting with shooting black and white from the start. I have my X-T3 set to Acros or Monochrome when I'm shooting. But, I'm using the free version of Capture One rather than Lightroom. I don't know if I have that set of color sliders when I'm editing a black and white image. I will have to check on that. I'm pretty new at the editing process. Thanks again for the info....

Thanks for the comment! I’m not sure if the free version of Capture One has the B&W color mixing sliders, but I know the full version does. Additionally, you can find them in the Camera Raw Filter in Photoshop as well. I do love the Acros and Monochrome film simulations and sometimes experiment with the red/yellow/green filter variants in camera. You can reprocess them in the camera with a new film simulation if you’re shooting raw, which I sometimes do to see how it will look.
