The best parts of season 2 in my opinion: .Kai was finally given a well deserved and well written character arc after so many years .Ras as a villain is genuinely one of the most entertaining and decently written villains in Ninjago's entire run .Jay as a character was handled better this season than he has been for years in the main show despite his lacking screentime, at least for me, and now that he has a shattered soul it could open up for interesting storylines in the future .The darker and more mature story was something Ninjago desperately needed since the Oni trilogy wrapped up and it delivered it perfectly . Overall great side characters and new characters with the exception of a few, just like the first season .The fight scenes and animation is some of if not the best we've seen in the show's run .Ras and Arins dynamic is both interesting and entertaining to watch at the same time What i didn't like: .Cole and Zane this season kinda felt like they were there for the sake of being there, kinda how Jay has been since season 10
And personally, I'd rather have Jay have less screentime and have a great arc (like this one) than have him be very prominent and just be there like after season 10
I think Cole got better in Part 2 this season, especially with his mentor style role and the reconnection with his mother. But Zane definitely needs some spotlight.
Honestly I think the budget increase and it being Netflix ofc has been the reason why the fight scenes are some of the best if not THE best they have ever been
15:56 and in Roby, i truly do think that his character foreshadows the Red Ninja arc Wyldfyre will go through. When Bleckt says to Riby that this isn't how his father would ran it, Roby responds by saying "that's the point". And whi else is going to have to carve out their own identity when there is already s pre-establidhed legacy to live up to? Wyldfyre.
Her whole falling in love with Roby arc reminds me of Kai and Skylor. Meet at the tournament, mystery around the love interest, protagonist gets embarrassed (a lot), love interest doesn't seem to like them at first but warms up to them (literally), also the fact that the love interest is part of the group that runs the tournament.
Plus it was such an important moment that helped push Arin further away from Lloyd. Jay served its purpose perfectly in the story. To be a tool Ras used to try and fracture the team
What I love about Jay in season 2 part 2 is his face when he leaves the tournament. His face is one of contemplation on that elevator. Time stamp 21:25 we can see his face. Its not one of frustration and stewing in hate, it’s one of uncertainty and introspection. To me, it tells me that Jay’s goodness isn’t as shattered as it appears to be. Jay is a person who wears his heart on his sleeve. He’s the emotional core of the group. Even when the world wants him to give in, he keeps smiling and getting back up. He pushes past his pain and fear for the people he loves. Jay just wants to feel loved and appreciated and in a place he belongs, and I think that’s how Ras tricked him. Jay clearly didn’t vibe with the administration (if we look at him talking to bonzle in s2 p1) so when offered the idea of being “who he’s meant to be”, he takes it. Without his memories of the people he holds close, his insecurities are far too easy to exploit. I think the fact that Nya and Kai went after Jay, even despite how he told the former he’d always hate her, will help reignite the spark within Jay.
@@Ded_botOH MY GOSH! IT WAS RELEASED IT AUGUST BY A WEIRD COMPANY😅. But I see why you thought that LOL😂, even though this is it's OFFICIAL release on Netflix.
As much as Jay feels like Oni Lloyd again this season (at least for me). I will give him credit for this… *_HE DID NOT MAKE A PEE/PANTS JOKE._* They fixed one of the worst things about old Jay.
I was so surprised with how they handled the evil arin arc. I thought they could never pull it off in ten episodes because of how good hearted arin is. But season 2 pt2 showed so many reasons as to why it’d make sense, making it my favourite part of season 2
Dragons Rising is just phenomenal. Literally nothing else. Just amazing dude. If Season 3 can keep up the level of quality we've had so far, I don't think we can keep ranking the Oni Trilogy higher. It's prettymuch eclipsed it already by this point. It's just amazing, everything the franchise should be.
Bro season 3 has A WHOLEEE lot of things that will be going big and still has so many questions that may be getting answered and yes I hope it keeps the consistency and isn’t rushed!
Okay, but is no one going to recognize that Kai was able to stand his ground against a foe with (nearly) all other elemental powers? He was knocked out in about 30 seconds, but staying up for that long is impressive no matter how you look at it.
Nice vid, lowkey I do agree w the jay segment for the most part. I think it would've been more intriguing to want to see jay in a more positive way (from the fans pov) if he won a match or two in the tournament before loosing to Nya. Then he would've had more screen time, maybe a flashback to how Ras found him, and a little more fleshed out before we get the same fight we saw in the tournament.
I think Cinder in Part 1 was a good character because it feel like we didn’t need to know about him. He was like Ras’ champion, his winning card. When he appeared you knew the ninja would have it tough. BUT in Part 2 Nokt kind of took that position in the Tournament of the Sources and Cinder didn’t have anything to do and he was just there without any sort of characteristic that made him interesting (And the ending doesn’t help either).
I’ll be honest when I first heard the wasting sickness line if DR S2, my mind processed it as wasting sickness just meaning aging, but in hindsight it being a literal wasting sickness makes sense plot and character wise.
On my rewatch of season 2 part 2 I definitely noticed Zane’s robotic nature a lot more and how oddly geo only gets a few lines despite being in a lot of scenes. Also Jordana is seen in her part 1 outfit when we first see her in part 2. But in the flash back when them and nokt killed the arc dragons she’s in the part 2 attire.
If you notice, I'm pretty sure Chen also stole the color design for his outfit, compare Roby's outfit and Chen's. Now obviously this could be one big coincidence but it would be funny if Chen actually stole the color scheme from whoever the games master was at that time.
6:45 I hate that people always forget how this wasn't Lloyd's first time as a master. He was an official master during SoG and hunted, literally being called "Master Lloyd" by Wu himself.
No joke part 2 of this season is my new favorite Ninjago installment, surpassing both sons of Garmadon and hunted combined, cause it had honestly has equal stakes but the humor doesn’t nearly contrast like it’s perfectly balanced, the tournament actually lasts till the end of the season, has no characters that annoy me like with Dorama and that witch from part 1, yep I didn’t like her for some reason. Also it introduced my favorite character frak, he’s so wholesome despite being under ras first. Also till now I thought most of Dragons rising was better but not amazing to me till this part and I’ll give three big reasons why. They all are ironically criticisms that are shared with crystalized Aka evil Jay is like Oni Lloyd, arin currently has similar mindset to Harumi, and Nya in general. But I’ll defend that unlike Oni Lloyd, it’s clear that evil jay isn’t done, and also the scene where we first hear Nya say I love you without it being muffled like in Seabound only to hear Jay’s answer retroactively improves crystalized for me seeing how we know what Jay truly feels and is willing to save nya. Sort of like how Kai in crystalized was improved cause of dragons rising mentioning how he coped with nya being missing for a year. Also it’s much sadder and less force then that awful love triangle from rebooted, and cause of that scene it led to Kai’s return this part not feeling rush but earned cause you feel so bad for nya after Jay said he hated her. Also it mostly nulls whatever happened with Harumi cause we have a more fleshed out version through Arin and could lead to great potential. So yeah that’s why i love season 2 part 2
Some of my favorite parts of this season (or just the second part) -The calendar was hype for me because it tells us that Ninjago's months or weeks are 12 days (I don't know Asian culture, maybe there's something there) -Arin mentions that Frak taught him how to make Merlopian Berry Cream Pie, and we find out that Arin and Frak were friends, before the merge, and they lost contact before the merge. Meaning that the average citizen of Ninjago at that time could get Merlopian wares, which to me is some hype world building, that most likely comes from Benthomaar being the King of Merlopia. -Lastly one of my absolute favorite things of this season, and maybe one of my favorite things from this series (+Classic), Serpentine kids growing amongst Human kids, and Serpentine living amongst humans (Before the Merge!!). I cannot get over my excitement for this, just the fact that back in season 1, the Serpentine were the villains, and how it used to be before, and after they're imprisonment. It really goes to show just how much the Ninja did, for thousands of years Serpentine and Humans could not make it work together, but Ninja actually did it. The scene where Frak and Arin meet makes me so happy, the bullies interaction with Frak implies that while the Serpentine are kinda outsiders, it's still something the humans are used to. Also that picture with Frak and familiy is one of the most adorable things I've seen in this show, I love that picture so much. Also I think the background looks like the Serpentine cave from Season 3. (Little blue spots, and little yellow spot, and some green, and it's dark) (Could also be the city, or the Wildbrain Serpentine cave versions)
I think this was a very solid season. My favorite part was definitely the stuff with Nya and Jay. I can’t wait to see where that goes next season. My only major complaint is that in the second half of the season Kai and Bonzle are stuck in a prison with a bunch of evil villains but they don’t do anything with that. Going into part 2 I thought there would be some scenes of them trying to sneak around the forbidden five and there is some stuff like that I guess but it’s not a lot. Kai and Bonzle feel like complete afterthoughts until they’re freed in the finale. Just feels like a lot of missed potential to me. Both part 1 and 2 of The first season of Dragon rising felt very connected. They felt like the same story but Part 2 of season 2 feels very disconnected from part 1 (god I hate how they stopped giving the seasons names). Maybe that’s just a personal thing but Idk
@@Crusty783 I think it made talking about the seasons a bit easier. Like if I wanted to say Seabound I just say Seabound, nice and simple. But with dragons rising, you have to say dragons rising season 1 or something and you also have to consider that they’re releasing the seasons in parts so sometimes I have to say things like dragons rising season 2 part 1. Feels like a bit of a mouthful. Is it that big of a deal? No not really and I’m sure it’s just more of a personal thing but I do still miss the seasons having their own unique names
I haven't had this much joy watching this show since the Oni Trilogy. So many new ideas and old ideas with interesting twists. The character work is immaculate, seeing Lloyd grow into his roll as a ninja master is long overdue and incredible, and Erin slowly losing his trust in himself and the people he cares about is just heartbreaking. The animation has the fast paced action of the 11 Minute era with the amazing visuals of the Oni Trilogy and Dragons Rising Season 1. There's just so much i can't even come close to mentioning it all, it's not flawless but i love it. I haven't been this excited not only for Ninjago's present but also its Future in such a long time.
I’m really looking forward to seeing where Arin’s story goes in S3 and seeing how future interactions with the ninja will occur - especially with Sora. It almost feels like a Morro situation again but that does not bother me in the slightest. I am also excited to seeing how Evil Jay will be handled with. I don’t want to raise my expectations too high but still looking forward to how Jay could become more evil or even take on an anti-hero role since he was sent away!
This was a really great review! I genuinely think that this is my favourite season of the franchise, because it’s continued everything I loved about season 1 and did so much more. This is basically everything I’ve wanted Ninjago to be for years now and I’m so glad it’s finally happening. The Lloyd stuff especially I could really relate to, and felt like it’s such a good representation of anxiety and it’s done in such a clever way. It’s almost definitely the most I’ve ever related to a Ninjago character. Anyways great review!
They absolutely killed it this season, wasn't a big fan of the witch lady but outside of that this stuff has been fantastic. Seeing Kai just ooze with confidence as this chilled out mentor/father figure but lock in when fighting Cinder or tutoring Wyldfire was so cool Sora, Egalt and Lloyd were great And I have never been more excited to see more of two characters in the way Arin and Ras have been set up. A hero and villain being alone together is such a peak setup and I cannot wait to see what their time together will result in
i think it would be really cool if they continued on arin's evil arc, ras would make him do horrible things, and arin, being desperate would succumb to these pressures, and at the end they could build it up to a breaking point where lloyd, and arin, duel each other.
@@Alban_Blade_Memer ye well this season was post to be about kai and then venice for have the season. I mean i think what gonna happen is that Zane will a complex something great in the fight against of your forbidden five but it will slowly built up something bigger for Arin.
Great vid! This really changed my opinion on part 2. The characters were great and there many great twists. My only problem is Jay and Zane , I really hope they get some improvement because I think out of everyone they had the least development. the dialogue felt kinda off and I think jay could have been handled better, he just appeared for one fight and then left felt kinda underwhelming and the jay vs nya didn't really affect me much I thought it could have been handled better but other than that amazing season definitely in my top 5 :)
Can we also talk about how they finally let death back in ninjago? Egalt has a terminal and incurable disease, the matriarch/source dragon explicitly being killed, the forbidden 5 killing the wildness tiger, Beatrix killing her father in a coup Coming from a series that kept bringing back the same 5 villains back from the dead over and over again and having constant revival of characters, I didn't expect them to kill so many characters in just a couple seasons
Okay I love the set up for the Evil Jay Arc.Cause the ninjago crew could make season 3 that some or half of episodes will have Nya and Kai looking for Jay
I loved your previous season of dragon’s rising breakdown. I was never able to get into Ninjago but thanks to your video I felt like I could finally be included in some way. Well you be doing another summary video of season 2?
the action sounds jay makes when fighting againest nya are so awesome u know the waaaa haaaa sounds like the classic jay and that fight had to be a throwback to jay vs cole
So, here is my take on S2: I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE Part 1. It's simply perfect and one of the best installments we've ever gotten. I've watched it at least twenty times already😅. As for Part 2... I do like lots of individual things about it, but as a whole, it felt a little messy and rushed. The race thing came out of nowhere and felt out of place, the beginning was very rushed and came out of the blue, Sora winning the whole thing even though she's supposed to be training felt a bit silly, the og ninja losing very early on felt weird, and Cinder's character was completely mishandled. But I, as usual, adored the visuals, liked Arin's character arc, LOVED everything they did with Lloyd, and really liked Roby and Wyldfyre's relationship.
I'd agree about Sora winning if not for one crucial detail, the entire tournament was rigged. The og ninja didn't lose so much as they weren't allowed to win. For Lloyd, that's literally what happened. Nya clearly won her match against Nokt. Cole's match was heavily weighted against him. In Zane's 1v1, it's implied something melted the ice. Wyldfyre is the only character to lose her match "fairly" (and I use quotes because she was intentionally paired with Cinder to get under her skin, just like Nya was paired with Jay) Sora's first match was also weighted, but she, using her intellect and tech power, was able to rebalance the scales. Her second match-up was surprisingly in her favor I'd say. She's a smart character and she was given a riddle solving match against Cinder, whose greatest asset is brute force.
5:07 mid vid mr beast feastable ad ahh race. this race jus feels that one scene in the island where lloyd called for the motorbikes. they coulda had the arin and ras encounter distraction literally just be another fight/s in tournament or have all the contestants that lost first round get in the gulag.
@@SuperbGorilla making him lose in the first match and never show again isn't really making him perfect, he should actually have time and do things no one else can do. Lightning has many abilities and the shoe doesn't show it.
I agree but I wish they did something more with Jay like how do we go from administration Jay to wolf clan Jay hopefully they’ll explain it next season
13:52 THIS is why DR season 2 is one of my favorite seasons of all time. Kai my childhood favorite hadn’t been great in a season since like TOE in 2014 and seeing my GOAT never get any development and half assed arcs made me sad. But Dragons Rising had made Kai the best he has ever been with him mentoring wyldfire, mastering rising dragon first, and sacrificing himself for the ninja.
You know, the more I think about it, the more I realize DR season 2 tries to do what other shows have been doing were one season can focus on two thing, one in the autumn part and the other in spring. The best exemples I can think of are shows like the flash (from season 5 onward) and once upon a time (from season 3 onward), where there are two storylines but do feel connected, just like crusty said.
I think Zane become more robotic interesting because it was revealed to be his greatest fear but he so unaware of how robotic his become it give a new perspective on why he was afraid of it it shows he was afraid of no longer understanding emotions at a human level and become detached form what he turely is and what he cares about the most
I think the best way to fix Zane character for him to remember the sense were he saids his greatest fear and self reflect and relies he fears comeing ture and face it learn to find balance in his human and robotic sides and to excepted them both as a part of who he is
I think it was great we got the pairing of Zane, Cole and Bonzle because like with Bonzle, Cole also accepted Zane's true origins which was being a Nindroid.
I just love Master Lloyd here. S7 tried to do something but it failed and I felt it was more of a replacement to fill Wu's place. S8 had Pixal calling him master and that's it. But here, omg I love it. The dynamic between him and Sora is great, I wanted more moments with these two together, in part 2 of season 1 we had Sora and Nya being together which was good don't get me wrong, but I feared they were gonna forget Lloyd is her master and replace him with Nya,glad I was wrong( btw Nya gives me aunt vibes )and heck Sora and Arin swapping places in this second part was so unexpected. I wonder if Ras is actually telling the truth, I feel I was being manipulated too.
im glad hes offically master and they arent going to keep going back and forth altough noyone really ever calls him master or master lloyd and i wish they did say it more for him to truly embrace his role maybe they will in season 3
Lord raz and arins relationship is literally becoming palpatine manipulating Anakin to save padme😭. Like even the scene where arin says "I need him." It's beautiful
i agree with a lot of the things you said in the video. season 2 is incredible in a lot of way and is one of and if not the best season of ninjago. in my opinion cole and mostly zane were sidelined for a large majority of the season, and i don't really understand why zane learned dragons rising and cole didn't. beside that i really really lied you're review of the season, it was a banger of a video🤟👌👍
One thing I dont understand about Evil Jay is why he is in the administration. The only reason I can think is to get these little cameos of him but besides that him not being in the administration would've changed basically nothing.
I’m sure it’s there for a reason and the writers are definitely building up to something with his character in season 3 which makes me really excited for that since Jay is my favorite character. I hope we find out what happened to Jay after the merge in season 3.
@@LSbrine11 Ohh true. I dont think Jay actually does but it was how Arin was convinced to join Ras. Even tho Ras could've just lied to him about Arin's parents cause he probably already is lying.
I love the direction this series is going and I’m really hyped for Season 3. If you don‘t mind. I’d like to express a few disagreements I have on the season. first off, I‘m not too fond of Bonzle subplot. It just feels like a bunch of filler that gets in the way of the build up to the blood moon. I do agree that Bonzle is a pleasant character, but she isn’t all that special to me. Removing the subplot from the season doesn’t really change anything, I think more time could have been allocated to character development for the main cast. second, I think Kai’s sacrifices was handled terribly. No one really seems all that worried about Kai or even misses him. We get a throwaway line here and there but that’s it. I think Wyldfyre could have used more of her screentime to learning to express her feelings and build on her insecuritie in part 1 of the season instead of flirting with a twink. But these are the only critisisms I can think of. Loved the character work done for the main cast overall.
Positives: Characters are written very well Animation was great Arin was done amazingly Jay finally wasn’t annoying Kai was amazing Negatives: I felt that the second part was way too drastic of a change The Forbidden Five felt way too nerfed
Arin’s “evil arc” is honestly handled 100x better than Anakin Skywalker’s turn to the dark side. We see that Arin has genuine motivations to want to save Ras, and Arin doesn’t fully agree with everything Ras does but simply wants to hear him out and learn what happened to his parents. Arin hasn’t turned evil, and he doesn’t support Ras, but he’s very confused after learning that Wu initiated the merge and Ras wants to undo it. It’s so much more convincing than Anakin suddenly becoming a youngling slayer and wife killer because he had a couple of bad dreams and was passed over for a promotion.
Since the leak my opinion on this season has shifted 2 times. Upon my first watch, I abosolutely loved it and placed it as my second favourite season, right after Hunted. Then I rewatched it a few times and liked it less and placed it on number 7. Now that it's out officially, I thought about it again and the season now made it's way back into my top 5 again.
Surprising that no one mentioned that when riyu reaches near maturity, he will have to leave the team to go to the spirit coves, just like the ultra dragon did
The OG ninja have a big issue is that they are... too perfect... they have been through so much self improvement they became people so great... so flawless... it gets boring.
Still angry about Jay and Peacock. But Season 2 Part 2 was still pretty solid. Sora was definitely the season’s MVP. And Ras comes close as well. Of the new characters, I like Frak the most. Despite working with Ras, he’s still got enough morals to deny Shatterspin.
Things I love about season 2: Kai being a well written character and given so much justice, as he's one of my favorite characters. Lord Ras The darker tone and more serious story was what Ninjago needed, and they nailed it. Great side characters. Arin's character being taken in a bold new direction. Making the Forbidden Five a real threat, as seen in the flashback and the reveal that Nokt and Rox killed the Dragon Matriarch and two other Arc Dragons. The soundtrack, especially 'The Blood Moon Rising' and 'Lloyd's Visions'. What I didn't like: How they handled Zane. We still don't know who Ras' master is.
Can’t wait to watch it legally! I don’t have ITVX so 😕. I feel like Jay should’ve won and later get kicked out or leave after Ras’ harsh treatment. Losing made him look weak.
Crazy how really my only problem now is zane. Arins becoming more and more interesting due to ras’ influence. Jay has future potential I look forward to, and theres still the forbidden 5 to worry about. i’m really looking forward to this next season and this one is deffo a top season for me
I think it would’ve been fun if during the race other elemental masters like Cinder had the chance to sabotage the ninja. It would make it much more interesting if you had Nockt or Cinder trying to stop the ninja from winning instead of just random obstacles.
Outside of the pacing of pt2 at times it has been one of the best Ninjago seasons of all time, thought Zane got really weird after around ep7, which feels especially odd considering how he has been better at least for the rest of DR I have the tiniest bit of hope that the Zane stuff is a side effect of some kind of the fake death but I doubt it
My theory for DR season 3 is that Arin will master all forms of spinjitsu like his wonky spinjitsu, normal Spinjitzu, spinjitsu burst, and rising dragon. And for the shatterspin part, i feel like he will master a form of shatterspin that doesn’t require a wolf mask but still has equal power. All under the training of Ras who will be betrayed by Arin who will realize he is being deceived. And i also think that he will use a spinjitsu techique that looks like a tornado of creation only used by the first spinjitsu master and he will defeat the forbidden five, Ras and also Ras’ master
I loved season 2, this season made Lloyd go from my 5th favorite to my 3rd favorite and Kai went from 4th to 2nd only beaten out by Cole for me. I'll have to rewatch the season, but I think this is going in 3rd place only below SoG and MotM.
I was so sad about Cinder, since it seemed like in Episode 11 they were going to go somewhere with him, when they were showing him actually getting beaten pretty badly by Nokt. Like when Ras tells Nokt to continue training, and it pans to Cinder looking injured and scared, the cocky persona stripped away? I was like, Oh, ok! His arc is going to be realizing he's gone down a path he won't survive, maybe we'll get some backstory from it too! Cool! Nope. He's fun to watch and all, but yeah, no movement with his character. We didn't even get his reaction to being possessed by Rox in Ep 20 -- and then he's just arrested with the rest of the wolf clan! What gives? Definitely a let down in an otherwise fantastic season.
This season had a lot of really amazing setup, with both Jay and Arin going on villain arcs, I just hope they follow through with them in future seasons, if either one is undone within the first five episodes of the next season, it'll be quite underwhelming, but if either one of them lasts to the end of the season or beyond, it'll be amazing. I do feel there are some issues here, for instance I find it somewhat hard to take the Forbidden five seriously, with the looming mystery of Ras' master and them clearly being set up to be the series' main villain, the five do kind of feel like filler before we get back to the real villain, however it'll all depend on how they're handled going forward. My only real issue with the season itself was that Robie is annoyying, and I was hoping he was the conspiritor just so he'd be thrown out, the moral that the person who wants to preserve tradition is evil and the person who wants to desecrate it for profit in good seems backwards, and concerns me coming from what is really a very large corperration, kind of feels like they're subtly pushing a pro-extreme-capitalism message to children, which makes me uncomfortable. I do think the show had a lot to love about it though, the villains have comedic moments without being commically incompitant like in past seasons, the fact that they had an established character strait-up die in episode 11 was a delightful surprise, and makes the guilty one seem far more threatenning. Ras' manipulations of Arin are some of the best moments in the show, showing him to be almost as good a manipulator as Harumi without having to make Arin seem like a gullable fool to do it. The Rox reveal was also great, since it was well set up and a mystery that's not obvious enough that you immediately know, but also can be figured out before it comes out, and she seems like she'll make for a good villain, although I actually don't like her design, but that's a preference thing. Ras' fight with Arin before the mid season finale is one of the shows best moments and really lays the groundwork for the manipulation effectively. Overall, DR season 2 is still not SoG, but I do think it was great, I just found Robie unbearable and uncomfortable, and there are not any characters I can't stand to watch in the Oni trilogy.
The Forbidden 5's names are; Nokt, Rox, Zarkt, Krulth and Zyyrk. Zarkt is confirmed but ins about the other 2. Zarkt is the one with the bell-looking helmet.
Lloyd is my favorite character and I love the way they handled Lloyd this season. And thank goodness theyve finnally made him an offical master!! well overdo

GREAT CRUSTY 783 LEGO NINJAGO DRAGONS RISING SEASON TWO PART TWO EXCELLENT QUALITY WORK
Crusty783, I have a question: How would you rank the eras of Ninjago (5 being least favorite and 1 being most)?
@@thezombiestudio2175
5) 11 Minute Era
4) Revival Era
3) Original Run
2) Dragons Rising
1) Oni Trilogy
@@Crusty783 what's the revival era?
The best parts of season 2 in my opinion:
.Kai was finally given a well deserved and well written character arc after so many years
.Ras as a villain is genuinely one of the most entertaining and decently written villains in Ninjago's entire run
.Jay as a character was handled better this season than he has been for years in the main show despite his lacking screentime, at least for me, and now that he has a shattered soul it could open up for interesting storylines in the future
.The darker and more mature story was something Ninjago desperately needed since the Oni trilogy wrapped up and it delivered it perfectly
. Overall great side characters and new characters with the exception of a few, just like the first season
.The fight scenes and animation is some of if not the best we've seen in the show's run
.Ras and Arins dynamic is both interesting and entertaining to watch at the same time
What i didn't like:
.Cole and Zane this season kinda felt like they were there for the sake of being there, kinda how Jay has been since season 10
Was just rewatching it and that fight between Lloyd and the bot that attacks them in the night is just amazing
And personally, I'd rather have Jay have less screentime and have a great arc (like this one) than have him be very prominent and just be there like after season 10
I think Cole got better in Part 2 this season, especially with his mentor style role and the reconnection with his mother. But Zane definitely needs some spotlight.
@@Lismism2023 I liked him as well, but in my opinion, he didn't get better. Mostly just because he wasn't in the season a lot...

Meet at the tournament, mystery around the love interest, protagonist gets embarrassed (a lot), love interest doesn't seem to like them at first but warms up to them (literally), also the fact that the love interest is part of the group that runs the tournament.
The wyldfyre red ninja arc is basiclly useless and kai is back now
I agree about Jay. If he had a full blown story in this season it would've been overstuffed.
i agree
Plus it was such an important moment that helped push Arin further away from Lloyd. Jay served its purpose perfectly in the story. To be a tool Ras used to try and fracture the team
Ok
Honestly despite the season already being leaked I’m still incredibly excited for the season to officially release
When does it come out again?
@@tcwe123yesterday
It released today lol
@@Ded_botOH MY GOSH! IT WAS RELEASED IT AUGUST BY A WEIRD COMPANY😅. But I see why you thought that LOL😂, even though this is it's OFFICIAL release on Netflix.
I cant see it on Netflix tho?
As much as Jay feels like Oni Lloyd again this season (at least for me). I will give him credit for this… *_HE DID NOT MAKE A PEE/PANTS JOKE._* They fixed one of the worst things about old Jay.
Yet they both barley had any screen time unfortunately
@@hi-rv1ey for now
Kai was right that Jay losing his memories is an improvement.
Also he doesn't have the squeaky voice anymore
Soooo can we pretend that this DIDN’T leak three months earlier and just enjoy how awesome this season was 😅
gotta get that netflix rewatch in
@@Crusty783 I left it running on my phone overnight so it still contributed to watch time stats for the show.
I was so surprised with how they handled the evil arin arc. I thought they could never pull it off in ten episodes because of how good hearted arin is. But season 2 pt2 showed so many reasons as to why it’d make sense, making it my favourite part of season 2
same! arin was really well handled
i woudnt say evil
@@wowoking2 I agree it’s just that everyone labelled the arc as the evil arin. I think that arin has just become desperate rather than evil
Dragons Rising is just phenomenal. Literally nothing else. Just amazing dude. If Season 3 can keep up the level of quality we've had so far, I don't think we can keep ranking the Oni Trilogy higher. It's prettymuch eclipsed it already by this point. It's just amazing, everything the franchise should be.
hard agree with all of this
saying it eclipsed it at this point is kinda crazy to me, at least if you just compare the first two seasons of both
Bro season 3 has A WHOLEEE lot of things that will be going big and still has so many questions that may be getting answered and yes I hope it keeps the consistency and isn’t rushed!
Okay, but is no one going to recognize that Kai was able to stand his ground against a foe with (nearly) all other elemental powers? He was knocked out in about 30 seconds, but staying up for that long is impressive no matter how you look at it.
Kai was absolutely awesome in this season. Total MVP
Even more hyped for this than the actual season.
thank you! :)
The Tournament of the Sources feels like Ninjago's Olympic Games for some reason.
Zane was robotic also at the end of pt1
It feels especially weird considering how he was better than previously throughout S1P2 and the rest of S2P1
If you notice, I'm pretty sure Chen also stole the color design for his outfit, compare Roby's outfit and Chen's.
Now obviously this could be one big coincidence but it would be funny if Chen actually stole the color scheme from whoever the games master was at that time.
The Egalt allegory hit close to home for me since I lost my Grandfather to cancer at the same time this season came out.
sorry to hear about your grandad :( hope things have gotten better for you and your family since
6:45 I hate that people always forget how this wasn't Lloyd's first time as a master. He was an official master during SoG and hunted, literally being called "Master Lloyd" by Wu himself.
Yeah and that was training so not really his first time this is his first time
I'm gonna binge the absolute hell out of those episodes once they finally drop
They dropped, right?

Kai vs Nahkt shows how capable of a fighter he is, it reminded me of the Kai pre 11-minute days but better
real!! kai was awesome this season
awesome review man personally this is my fav season
valid! its awesome
9:56 ras got a little 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓴𝔂
I cant stop laughing 😂
Honestly I own the evil jay character. He looks absolutely sick in my opinion. He’s my favorite looking Lego character.
Some of my favorite parts of this season (or just the second part)
-The calendar was hype for me because it tells us that Ninjago's months or weeks are 12 days (I don't know Asian culture, maybe there's something there)
-Arin mentions that Frak taught him how to make Merlopian Berry Cream Pie, and we find out that Arin and Frak were friends, before the merge, and they lost contact before the merge.
Maybe that’s just a personal thing but Idk
i'm personally okay with seasons not having names anymore
@@Crusty783 I think it made talking about the seasons a bit easier. Like if I wanted to say Seabound I just say Seabound, nice and simple. But with dragons rising, you have to say dragons rising season 1 or something and you also have to consider that they’re releasing the seasons in parts so sometimes I have to say things like dragons rising season 2 part 1. Feels like a bit of a mouthful. Is it that big of a deal? No not really and I’m sure it’s just more of a personal thing but I do still miss the seasons having their own unique names
Completely agree!
Anyways great review!
ty plastic! i agree this is one of the best ninjago things to release
They absolutely killed it this season, wasn't a big fan of the witch lady but outside of that this stuff has been fantastic.
Seeing Kai just ooze with confidence as this chilled out mentor/father figure but lock in when fighting Cinder or tutoring Wyldfire was so cool
Sora, Egalt and Lloyd were great
And I have never been more excited to see more of two characters in the way Arin and Ras have been set up. A hero and villain being alone together is such a peak setup and I cannot wait to see what their time together will result in
Bonsil’s form the they chose was a skeleton which are literally empty on the inside like how she felt when wandering the realms
i think it would be really cool if they continued on arin's evil arc, ras would make him do horrible things, and arin, being desperate would succumb to these pressures, and at the end they could build it up to a breaking point where lloyd, and arin, duel each other.
Morro reference.
1. Has about SORA⚙️
2. Has about LLOYD🔋
3.Will finally be about ARIN✨️

It's about Zane which isn't a bad idea even if I want Arin arc to be expanded on
@@Alban_Blade_Memer ye well this season was post to be about kai and then venice for have the season.

@@thanasisbrailas3636 I'm pretty confident about dragon rising
Hmmm, not sure I can accurately guess, but I THINK Crusty likes season 2. Just a wild guess...
its definitely possible..
Can we also talk about how they finally let death back in ninjago? Egalt has a terminal and incurable disease, the matriarch/source dragon explicitly being killed, the forbidden 5 killing the wildness tiger, Beatrix killing her father in a coup
Coming from a series that kept bringing back the same 5 villains back from the dead over and over again and having constant revival of characters, I didn't expect them to kill so many characters in just a couple seasons
I rewatched part 1 and 2. And they are damn amazing but yeah, i was on my phone the entire tournament race💀
Okay I love the set up for the Evil Jay Arc.Cause the ninjago crew could make season 3 that some or half of episodes will have Nya and Kai looking for Jay
Dragon Rising is just masterpiece
This also fix two of my main problems with dr s1
1 sora being a better friend
2 arin getting more story
Maybe ras's true master is one of the 7 Source dragons
I loved your previous season of dragon’s rising breakdown. I was never able to get into Ninjago but thanks to your video I felt like I could finally be included in some way. Well you be doing another summary video of season 2?
I plan on making "The story of" and review videos for every Dragons Rising season! It'll definitely exist before S3 comes out :)
the action sounds jay makes when fighting againest nya are so awesome u know the waaaa haaaa sounds like the classic jay and that fight had to be a throwback to jay vs cole
7:17 the astro bot music in the backround didnt go unoticed 👌
love that game so much
So, here is my take on S2:
I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE Part 1.
Wyldfyre is the only character to lose her match "fairly" (and I use quotes because she was intentionally paired with Cinder to get under her skin, just like Nya was paired with Jay)
Sora's first match was also weighted, but she, using her intellect and tech power, was able to rebalance the scales. Her second match-up was surprisingly in her favor I'd say. She's a smart character and she was given a riddle solving match against Cinder, whose greatest asset is brute force.
Hearing a TH-camr who reviews the seasons just straight up say dad instead of teacher when it comes to Kai and Wyldfyre made my day.
"Most anticipated crusty video of the year"
That day after the first teaser dropped when all the episode came out will always live in Ninjago history, along with Seabound being leaked in French.
crazy day
5:07 mid vid mr beast feastable ad ahh race. this race jus feels that one scene in the island where lloyd called for the motorbikes. they coulda had the arin and ras encounter distraction literally just be another fight/s in tournament or have all the contestants that lost first round get in the gulag.
Seeing Lloyd, Kai, Nya, Cole, Arin being amazing in DR while jay is barely in it is what makes us sad and mad. He should be perfected too.
He is tho like the plot is literally working as intended
Unrelated but the fact that every Ninja on the team is written really well and then Zane is just there being a robot 😭
@@SuperbGorilla making him lose in the first match and never show again isn't really making him perfect, he should actually have time and do things no one else can do. Lightning has many abilities and the shoe doesn't show it.
S2P1 was okay, but S2P2 is unironically really good, especially the Arin stuff
I agree 👍
I agree but I wish they did something more with Jay like how do we go from administration Jay to wolf clan Jay hopefully they’ll explain it next season
the arin stuff is so so peak
@@justandre14Yeah, I’d like that in addition to finding out what happened to him after the merge.
@@ReeseHosgood yeah same here
13:52 THIS is why DR season 2 is one of my favorite seasons of all time.
THAT’S WHAT I’M SAYING! How can Arin just understand what Riyu is saying? Screw not having powers, he’s damn telepathic
That reminds me of Ezran and zym for the dragon prince.
I think Zane become more robotic interesting because it was revealed to be his greatest fear but he so unaware of how robotic his become it give a new perspective on why he was afraid of it it shows he was afraid of no longer understanding emotions at a human level and become detached form what he turely is and what he cares about the most
I think the best way to fix Zane character for him to remember the sense were he saids his greatest fear and self reflect and relies he fears comeing ture and face it learn to find balance in his human and robotic sides and to excepted them both as a part of who he is
as a person with a mental disorder I can confirm bonzel is written accurately
You have no idea how happy I was seeing arin join ras
We won the match but we lost jay
great line and moment
ngl hopefully we get to see a zane vs zur rematch in season 3
Lord raz and arins relationship is literally becoming palpatine manipulating Anakin to save padme😭. Like even the scene where arin says "I need him." It's beautiful
i agree with a lot of the things you said in the video. season 2 is incredible in a lot of way and is one of and if not the best season of ninjago. in my opinion cole and mostly zane were sidelined for a large majority of the season, and i don't really understand why zane learned dragons rising and cole didn't. beside that i really really lied you're review of the season, it was a banger of a video🤟👌👍
I love the voicemails wildfire sent to Kai’s phone in between the seasons in order to cope with the grief of losing him
those were so great
One thing I dont understand about Evil Jay is why he is in the administration.
It's because he has information about where Arin's parents might be.
The only reason I remembered Ninjago again was this video
Positives:
Characters are written very well
Animation was great
Arin was done amazingly
Jay finally wasn’t annoying
Kai was amazing
Negatives:
I felt that the second part was way too drastic of a change
The Forbidden Five felt way too nerfed
Now that I rewatched it in my native language as well, DR S2 is in my top 3 together with SOG and Hunted now.
Surprising that no one mentioned that when riyu reaches near maturity, he will have to leave the team to go to the spirit coves, just like the ultra dragon did
you might be onto something here!
The OG ninja have a big issue is that they are... too perfect... they have been through so much self improvement they became people so great... so flawless... it gets boring.
Like Cole and Kai have virtually almost the same personality now, except Kai actually has stuff to do and Cole is just around
FRAK IS SO AWESOME
Things I love about season 2:
Kai being a well written character and given so much justice, as he's one of my favorite characters.
Lord Ras
The darker tone and more serious story was what Ninjago needed, and they nailed it.
What I didn't like:
How they handled Zane.
Jay has future potential I look forward to, and theres still the forbidden 5 to worry about. i’m really looking forward to this next season and this one is deffo a top season for me
Insane vid lol! Enjoyed watcing it fullly!
Haven't finished the season yet, but very excited to finish this video once I do!
Reasonable glaze
I think it would’ve been fun if during the race other elemental masters like Cinder had the chance to sabotage the ninja. It would make it much more interesting if you had Nockt or Cinder trying to stop the ninja from winning instead of just random obstacles.
the character development of Lloyd being a brat, who unleashed a snake army to a well mannered and kind person is crazy to think about💀
13:33 what kind of dynamic?
Outside of the pacing of pt2 at times it has been one of the best Ninjago seasons of all time, thought Zane got really weird after around ep7, which feels especially odd considering how he has been better at least for the rest of DR
I have the tiniest bit of hope that the Zane stuff is a side effect of some kind of the fake death but I doubt it
My theory for DR season 3 is that Arin will master all forms of spinjitsu like his wonky spinjitsu, normal Spinjitzu, spinjitsu burst, and rising dragon.
21:37 i think it was meant to show the effect of shatterspin but i see what you mean.
I think zane needs more of a spotlight.
Jay has a plot but its just slowly starting
Zane is literally just a robot
Still hoping we get another Chima reference in Dragon Rising, only because It would be so funny again.
I loved season 2, this season made Lloyd go from my 5th favorite to my 3rd favorite and Kai went from 4th to 2nd only beaten out by Cole for me. I'll have to rewatch the season, but I think this is going in 3rd place only below SoG and MotM.
Jay got to remember a Shinobi must see through deception
He wasn't possessed by Rox, the users of the Wolf masks are just under the control of the F5.
I think rases true master is the balance Source dragon
A new Ninjago golden era is upon us

The Forbidden 5's names are; Nokt, Rox, Zarkt, Krulth and Zyyrk. Zarkt is confirmed but ins about the other 2. Zarkt is the one with the bell-looking helmet.
Lloyd is my favorite character and I love the way they handled Lloyd this season. And thank goodness theyve finnally made him an offical master!! well overdo
