In case anyone is wondering what James is saying in Cantonese. Loose translation not literal. Ah yes, this eye not bad, this eye has time. See, definitely splendid. Definitely splendid. Definitely splendid. HEY WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO? WHAT TROUBLE YOU MAKING? Hey Cheng quickly come in. How will this do? Won't do. What need to mess?
Kudos to Cyber Chaos for listing screenwriters Hampton Fancher and David Peoples. This immortal, insanely funny scene, like nearly ALL the scenes in Blade Runner, is thanks to Fancher and Peoples. Read 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?' and you'll discover that PK Dick gets way too much credit for this movie. His actual contribution is about 5% of the material, a simple idea, really: A bounty hunter is tasked with hunting down and terminating an enclave of scary-smart androids. Period. (Yes, PKD is an astonishing Kafka-on-acid novelist, just as his cult-followers will tell you, but that does not translate automatically into: "Blade Runner was based on a PKD novel.")
It's interesting that Batty quotes (or misquotes) the poet Blake. Where do these reps get their affinity for art and literature, haha. I checked it out and found that the correct words are more like "Fiery the angels rose, and as they rose deep thunder roll'd. Around their shores: indignant burning with the fires of Orc."
we never consider this side of the story, from the eye designer, that maybe have a kid or secret nexus project, imagine a new sequel starring james hong and daniel wu

You not come here, illegal. I downloaded a mod for Duke Nukem 3D game and it had this clip and whatever this guy said right after that as some of the sounds.

He wears the coat so he doesn't die of hypothermia, as the eyes, and therefore his lab, need to be kept below freezing temperatures. Tearing off the coat puts Chew on a timer before he freezes to death, and obviously running isn't an option because he's constantly between Batty and Leon.
91 years old and still going strong. Much respect, Mr. Hong!
Yes, Love and Respect to Mr. Hong!
Legend
That's impressive!
He’s taken the place of Betty White as my “person I’m going to internally scream about when I see their name is trending.”
Yes😊. Indeed
Played an old dude 40 years ago!!!
Incredible !!😱😲
That incredible that he has also outlived both of the replicants and always as stayed a old man over all these years,James hong is incredible
@@wildarmsfan Blade Runner was my first impression of James Hong. My second was Big Trouble In Little China. He is indeed an incredible actor.
Before he worked at a noodle restaurant and raising a panda, he was building eyes for replicants.
Genius dialog and acting
Amazing he catches that they are replicants immediately. Eye for detail.
He knew when the guy put his hand in the freezing liquid😊❤️
Good pun.

LOL me too.
James Hong also plays the Grandpa in "Everything Everywhere All the Time."
Watched that movie tonight, and thought I recognized him, so came here to check 😉
I think it's a safe bet that he also played hundreds of other roles during his career which started in the 1950s.
I know
Everything Everywhere All At Once*
Happy 95th Birthday, Mr. Hong! Congrats on the Hollywood Walk of Fame honor. ❤
Professor Chang in teen titans(also voiced by James hong) had to be inspired by this character, the coincidence is just too much.

5%? Get out of town. He created the characters. Although Priss and Rachael were identical looking models- which was awesome. Cheers.

Why did Leon rip his coat?
I would imagine it was an intimidation tactic, or provoke a slow death. Leon is more emotionally and intellectually underdeveloped compared to Roy.
