I knew Kenny and Bruce at Solidbody, that 18w Marshall "first born" combo sounded killer. They had an insane collection of amps. Once I played Mick Ralphs old '59 Burst through an original Bluesbreaker amp, it was great until the business next door complained about the noise. LOL! Only time I ever saw a Narb amp. I still have a Blockhead 2x12 cab.

Awesome show! Part 2 should have Ossie talk about the "Marshmellow" internals. Rock on!

Today he released part 1 of the marshmello build. I doubt he will divulge the important stuff, but it will still be interesting

I was lucky enough to come across a 3 monkeys Orangutan combo in surf green.
Always been a heavy music rock and metal guy. Love it all, but that’s what I’ve played. So I pick up the combo, take it home, and open it up. Dang…… a work of art…..They have a crushed gold glass between clear plexi faceplate that needs to be seen,a gloss red chassis, hand made, custom transformers, hand wired. Just stunning. So simple, reverb knob (tube and awesome by the way, never washes out) volume, bass and treble. A pull on the bass cuts out the eq section. (Footswitchable by the way)Gives more volume and boost in gain a bit. Lastly, a voice knob. Six position that hits everything BUT true metal. Fender, voxy, plexi, even almost tweed meets orangy, But lower the bass and raise the treble, or raise the treble and lower the bass. It’s all so useable, warm, and just about perfect. It’s not a metal or rock amp, which is my go to, but it is the best amp I ever owned. You could open it up and charge guitar nerds to look inside. And it is 30-35 watts, can use 4=6v6s, (which I have in it)or two EL34s or 6L6s with rebias, (which Greg also replied almost instantly to my “what do I bias new 6v6 tungsols to)And it’s loud loud loud. Even more…. I built a headshell to matching trapezoid specs, but needed the logo badge. Even though they are no longer available, they sent me a badge and a hand written note from Greg. So I now have the coolest looking, best sounding head and 1x12 that I could hope for. Even your better half couldn’t deny it’s the nicest piece of art in the house. And….. it makes beautiful noise.I cannot say enough, yet I have…..

i had technical issues yesterday and unable to pull up the comments and donate. I had some questions.
I want to thank Ossie for sharing his knowledge. I built up an exact clone of Brad Whitford's amp as well as Jose's Load Box (but modified it so switchable between 4, 8, 16, and 24 ohm load, so a little more versatile). Both work great!
    😃👍

Unbelievable couple of opening stories...absolutely hilarious...unreal. Maybe I should let Dave know about my top secret tube supplier over in England...he's got vintage Mullard EL34's. And the XF2's are already glowing when you pull them out of the box..now that's quality !. Great show guys !

It’s about time Ossie turned up. LOL He was for some reason unreachable at 3M. Before that he I used to talk with him when he finished with Blockhead and he schooled me on my style 1 / 18 watt Marshall he built after reverse engineering the ones at solidbody. Remember me ? Danny from NY.

all the discussion @ VH1. Do you think that Donn, not knowing EVH or what *his tone* was at the time, or even if they could sell 12 albums, invested anytime trying to change Ed's sound by slaving, load resisting etc, etc? do you think EVH was open to changing his tone that he was seemingly happy with at the time? Isn't it more likely that at recording time Donn, Ted et al: just stood back and let ed dial up whatever tone he was happy with? I could see if his amps were noisy, un-fit for recording, that suggestions may have been made but otherwise not so much. If, in the future he complained about his tone and was seeking something he couldn't attain then maybe Donn etc may have offered suggestions but @ VH1? to me, it just seems out of character for human interaction.
