Sounds like the old Fiats we used to race here in Ireland in the 80's and 90's. 1300cc sohc, standard road engines that reved to 7500. Proper little screamers 😊 Another great video, thanks.
This is called BOP, other wise know as balance of performance. I am sure the Honda is allowed to run much less weight than the vette. The series appears to doing a great job.
Yeah, exactly! At the end of the day though, there is still no replacement for displacement. The vettes have been crushing it all season and everyone else is just trying to pick up the scraps
Gah I know. Timing and scoring actually had me in 2nd but after reviewing the footage. He nipped me right at the end. His car has such killer acceleration and I tried to slow him down at the apex but that just screwed me even more ha
That was a great race,it was a bummer to see the vette fail so quickly the crash went down super fast! I don't think the tsx could've reeled you in if there wasn't an impact with the corvette, epic race regardless
James back there just biding his time. Wish ya were able to go down a gear that last turn. ALSO, him trying to pass in that chicane, when both fwds get kinda slippery there..... ehhhh. Good race though, Eric. Looks like maybe the rears were getting a bit greasy around lap 5?
Yeah. The car was definitely loose. Its hard racing against cars that are built more for speed rather than being light and nimble. All that work in the corners to just get motored by ha
@@EricKutilRacing I was watching him in your mirror, and at probably around 60 outta corners you just see him pull, especially when he hits your draft some. And to think, now that he has a wing, doesn't he have to run a bit less power? You seem to keep up with the C5s just fine more/less on the straights.
what happen to the vette? did he just lift to try and regain control of the car which is what led you to bump him? i saw the last couple of corners it was losing grip.
I really think you need to shift it a little sooner... like 300rpm. Amazing racing. I'm assuming this was on the 200 horsepower tune what kind of torque does it make when it's on that tune?
Just making sure to reset the pads after the pad knockback, cota is pretty bumpy and the curbs and vibrations cause the pads to move and have a softer pedal. It's also more of a habit these days lol.
Personal Grinta. 320mm iirc. I love a wheel with thicker rim around the palms and thumbs. There's a few Sparco wheels I really like as well. 320-330mm is my favorite. 350 is a smidge too big for my personal taste but comes in handy for cars without powersteering
@@EricKutilRacing ahhh okay I was like maybe a caliper or something locked up or a line broke seen a little fluid hit your windshield . Hope a speedy fix on your end.
Is there black tape over the check engine light lol. You definitely where faster then the blue corvette he did the good old I racing check up in corners throwing you off probably not intentionally but it definitely messed your timing up
Will you drive my car and I’ll pay you. Just need it dialed in 😅. Always good to have a different perspective. (Rx8 BTW) all my friends are embarrassed to pit next to me. 😂😂😂😂 whatever..
Eric how did you get started ? I’m keen to do a track day in my 3.0 z4 but I’m nervous of other cars. I’ve done days in other peoples cars but mine getting crashed scares the life out of me 😂
This probably won't mean anything coming from "me," but I've been watching you for a while now since the eg saloon, and i dont want this to come across negative, But i would like to give a bit of constructive criticism/feedback. On numerous corners, especially the last corner of the last lap, you have been too low in the rev range and fell out of vtec in 3rd and needed 2nd gear. I first noticed this on another track, in some corners with you doing it in 4th gear instead of dropping into 3rd and having fallen out of vtec. I hope the 3rd gear incident hasnt deterred you from giving it the high downshifts it needs in these certain corners. Great racing none the less, i would like to see you get faster👍
I understand your viewpoints but there's a few things you may not be aware of. For the class rules, we have to run a specific power to weight. My car is detuned to to 198 whp flat. By flat, I mean it makes 198 whp at roughly 5700 rpm all the way to 8400 rpm. So in a lot of corners where it may seem like I'm too low in the rev range, I'm actually right in my peak power band. That's the benefit of a flat power curve, you can shift less. Now, the last corner, I will agree, I made a mistake there mainly because I was trying to prevent The tsx over/under and parked it at the apex to block him. At that point, I should have shifted to 2nd for sure.
One more thing I'll add, my gear setup was wacky at this event. I ran an extremely long tsx 2nd and then rsxs 3rd which were too close together. The final drive was also too long which made 5th not ideal on the straights. I made a change after this event and will make another this off season
@EricKutilRacing @EricKutilRacing yeah I was aware of the power to weight class. Yeah i understand being in and around 5000 - 5500rpm, but some corners I've seen the revs as low as 3000-4000. I've also a question about the vtec rpm engagement, would you not benefit from the vtec being lowered to 5000-5200rpm, so you can get into the flat 198whp sooner than having to wait for 5700rmp?
@EricKutilRacing that's interesting to hear about the gearing & for the final drive, I thought It was the torque of the k24 that was closing the gap. It'll be interesting to see the changes and hoping for you to get faster & all the best👍
Yeah. Not a big one but it definitely fucked the entire front end. His crash beam ended up going right above mine so the core support took all the damage.
Man I could feel the pressure of that TSX just from watching the video
Great racing and driving! We were yelling out loud for you. 🔥🔥🔥
Haha thanks dude!

13:30 MINUTES IN FOR THE KISS ..IN CASE YOU DONT GOT THE TIME TO WATCH THE FULL LAPS
There's just something right about a high revving, screaming 4 cylinder engine being pushed to its max. Love it, well driven!
Honda engines ftw!
love how you charge the curbs DV would be proud
Hell yeah! The car loves it!
Great race. This is why racing is awesome. You have a Honda civic racing two corvettes and keeping up with them. Amazing.
It's a great series!

I puckered at the final corner when it looked like you were gonna hit the Corvette.
fuck that TSX at the end just stealing 2n, you drove fucking awesome great to watch

Great racing! Good Driving 🔥🔥🔥 can we work with the gears for next time ?
Do you have auto-blip for downshifts?
Yeah. I think I was testing some settings for autoblip this session
That was a great race,it was a bummer to see the vette fail so quickly the crash went down super fast! I don't think the tsx could've reeled you in if there wasn't an impact with the corvette, epic race regardless
Yeah, I think I had something for the leader as well if I wasn't held up. Overall unfortunate race but still a podium finish. Cant complain
I was like yeah ku get it kuu....and said SHHHIIIIT!!! @6:08😅
Yeah I had trans issues all season ha. Stupid miss shifts lol

Damnnn it for ending ??!! Fuck sake on very last moment you get cut !! Can’t believe it! , burning inside bro !!👊

Yeah 198 whp flat from 5800 to 8400 rpm. About 165 ft lbs
Eric, I noticed you triple pumping your brakes a lot. Were they that soft ? Or were you settling the car? A great race by you by the way.

Nice race. Sniped at the line... I'm thinking of trying FWD myself..
Suuuuper close finish, I was pretty bummed ha
What a battle at the end ,i noticed your temps are way down in this race any improvements there or is because of cold weather .Good stuff!!💯🦾
Probably weather-dependent for sure. Also clean air helps too.
eric what steering wheel is that? and any steering wheel do you recommend?

Cota looks pretty massive in normal cars, how much of the lap do you spend at WOT? Great driving btw!
Yeah the track is huge and kinda funny/awkward when you race it with slower cars
Hebat
Great race. Its a shame about the damage. Is there any reason you dont heel toe?
Looks like the Haltech has auto-blip so it's not necessary to physically do it.
What happened to the vette something let go right in front of you that was a decent hit
His diff blew up

Haha close! The oil temp sensor broke and was stuck at max temp in red so I covered it to not distract me

Overrated heel and toe technique, this way without heel/toe you have better focus on braking and cornering
Crash is at 13:35
