- Finally! We get to clean the exterior of this vintage RV. Check out the difference a little elbow grease makes in the renovation of this motor home.

I like to spray the area down with a cleaner and let it soak for 5 minutes, and THEN use the pressure washer. But that is AMAZING how well it worked. Just incredible how much a pressure washing can help bring back an old RV. Great stuff!
It is so satisfying, isn't it? We're still hoping to get to the exterior of the Holiday Rambler before winter. Really looking forward to pressure washing it!
I agree it looks so much better, and you guys all got along with this difficult part of the journey to get this back to acceptable standards. Looking forward to upcoming episodes with butyl.

Hi Clive, thanks for watching the new video. So, we have 4 kids but 2 will be headed off to college soon. Or, as I think you say over there, to university 😁 We should have room to sleep 5 people with our current plan so we should be ok to go on trips with our youngest two. Thanks for the comment.
@@retrorevivals ok thanks you know American rvs are much better than those over here like the toilets in the motor homes are called cassettes which a pedal like a clutch pedal you push it down with your foot opens a flap for the dodas if you just pee then the pedal is in original position,then when full you have to go to where the door is on outside pull lever it releases the cassette then we walk to the dump station to empty it.your rvs connect a pipe to the dump valve pull a lever let it unload itself brilliant idea .I love the various models you can buy with slide outs great invention in USA if we had those rvs here sold as used they would cost colossal money the one rv I love which I could buy here is the winnebago fuse with either bedroom slide or dinet slide electric awning you name it its got it .The only negative is lack off storage bins outside, i would want a right hand drive one though it would have to be specially made other than that superb rv automatic,generator,solar,what more could a man ask for .
Limeaway and scotch bright will take all the surface rust spots off. After I wrote that you used CLR which is pretty much the same thing. You can use that on the cab also no harm to the paint. (just don't go crazy with the Scotch Bright or use a light one.)

That is looking so much better, but it hurt me to see your new wood getting wet.
I know, right?!? We knew it would leak inside while washing but it is still painful. We're going to work on getting it more water tight soon!

Thanks for watching again! We knew we'd have lots of leaks especially on that back wall but decided we needed to get it cleaned up before resealing everything on the exterior. We're going to work on getting it more water tight soon!

Hi Tyler my friend owned a painting company he is deceased know I had my home improvements shop next to his and he did not want to pay anyone to paint his work vans he has 8 and he wanted to keep the cost down he used his house paint sprayer with a fine mist attachment and he used rust oleum and they came out great you could not tell the difference in the paint he uncle got the business after his death and ran it till he died. Recently the paint held up for many years I think about eight or so years. And it was easy to prep he just premiered and then painted them. You Gus are doing a great job.

We did get some of the rust stains off of the cab. We're not sure yet if we'll repaint the cab or not. Some people like that vintage look :-) Thanks for watching!

How did your replacement exterior door work for you? I'm considering replacing one. If it worked good, where did you get it/ what search words did you use?
Thank you so much! Your videos are really helping us with our similar restore of a 1979.
So, that replacement door that we added actually goes straight into the side of the couch where we have a bunch of plumbing, water pump, etc. so we actually just sealed it closed. The specific one we purchased didn't have all the weather stripping that it would need. There are several different ones on Amazon if you search for RV Baggage Door. Good luck!
