    Installation was very easy. I went through it slowly using both this video and the instruction manual that came with the lock. Didn't encounter any issues at all and the lock is able to open and close freely with no issues. Build quality is excellent and solid. seems like a very well thought out design. Watch the video a few times and then play/pause it as you are installing and you cant go far wrong.

    I, for one, am not disappointed. It took me 40 minutes to install, but only because I took my time checking every step carefully. Followed the instructions carefully when adding my iPhone, card and fobs. It all works fine, so far. My only criticism, is that it is too expensive, but then you get what you pay for. I’ll see how it stands the test of time.

      How is it going so far? Mine gets delivered today. Very mixed reviews on this lock. I'm hoping mine is a good one.

    My experience has been somewhat mixed after having this product for around 8 months now. The installation instructions were clear and simple to follow, however in practice it was slightly more difficult; you have to understand that every door and installation is different and unique. It took me around 90 minutes to install it the first time round due to the screws not being quite in the same place etc. Once installed, I locked the door to find the actuator just spinning inside the lock, not actually locking it. A bit more faffing and messing around (and a good pull up on the handle) eventually made it work and lock correctly. Ive since had some trouble with the z-wave module (connected to SmartThings) that I managed to sort out with another round of tinkering. Since then, it's been working like a dream and works everytime.
    TL;DR: It works great after some messing around!

      Hi Josh, I have the same problem. It is just spinning around but can't lock the door. Manually I can. But the motor seems just spinning. How did you resolve?

  • @TheDanielShepherd

    Why hasn't anyone made one with a motor that can lift the handle yet? I can't see the point in an automatic smart lock that can't actually lock the door without manual intervention.

    I have just installed one of these, all seemed fine but then it kept whirring and whirring when locked. Uninstalled refitted the actuator by unscrewing it and screwing it back in; refitted the lot and it now works perfectly. I have a small hole where the previous Yale lock was taller.

    Everything works until I try to pair the first card/fob. Press R button but light won't turn purple. Anyone has any idea why?

    Does the screw going into the actuator need to go into the hole. Because to line mine up in order for it to spin I’d need to sink another hole in the side of my door which I’m a bit afraid to do. I’ve installed it by just screwing the screw against the actuator which allows it to turn but I’m not certain this is the correct method because it won’t lock?

    Can't get this to work on my front door. From 3:30 in this video the installer extends and retracts the deadbolt using the handle. My door, once the deadbolt is extended, requires the key to be operated first then the downward handle movement to allow the deadbolt to retract. I am stuck on the handing process because of this.

    THE SECRET THEY DON'T WANT YOU TO KNOW
    The only problem I have with this lock is the secret information that does not seem to be written anywhere and you only find out about it when it's installed.
    When you register your phone, key fob/card to the lock or send a virtual key to someone it uses a 'key credit'. Once you have used your qoata stored in the lock you have to buy more from Yale. This means you cannot register any more phones/fobs/cards without buying the privilege to do so. So let's say over time fobs and cards get lost by your family (just like real keys), they now have no way to get into your property until you pony up more cash (after paying hundreds of pounds for this lock) so you can buy further fobs/cards and register them. Even if you unregister a fob from the lock the credit is not returned to you. This is absolutely disgusting and needs to be exposed.

      So if you buy a traditional lock for you’re door you’d expect locksmiths to come out and work for free because you spent a little extra for a decent lock? Not to mention the key cuts you’d have to make, the call out charges, the waiting around for someone to come out. Sorry but the only thing that’s being exposed is how tight you are.

    • @shinydarknight01
      @shinydarknight01 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@nikobellic6264 the point in getting a lock like this is so you DON'T need those things. A traditional lock doesn't cost hundreds of pounds, these do so I'd hardly call myself tight. I also have a WiFi based security camera system that I don't pay a subscription or any extras for (most of them you do) , for that precise reason. So am I tight or are you just an idiot for shelling out for things all the time when I don't.

    • @nikobellic6264
      @nikobellic6264 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      My point exactly, with this lock you wouldn’t need to worry about locksmiths, new locks, key cuts and high costs incurred, but you’re comment was exposing this “secret information” which is hardly a secret as I’ve been aware of it for months before buying it myself, you lose you’re key card or fob you unregister the key (securing the property) and pay a small fee for another key saving money, time, and bother compared to the usual means. Don’t like that type of service? Well don’t use it then and stop trying to troll a company product and put others off from buying it, it’s hardly a scam you’re making it out to be when you’ve spent you’re hundreds of pounds on it willingly sounding as if you’re hard done by.

      It's not as if the virtual keys are expensive - IMHO the smarter option would be for them to add the cost as a "tax" on the hardware fobs/cards and then charge for virtual keys, just to keep things simple and straightforward and remove some hidden costs. Somebody has to pay to run the system for the next 20, 30, 50 years - if we assume that the lock itself is only sold at lock margins it makes sense they'd have to do this, the issue is more obfuscating the cost I guess?

      How much does getting a new key cut? How much does it cost to get a new lock fitted because one of the keys has gone missing? Figure that out and then you can eat your words because it’s way more hassle to go to Timpsons for a key , call a lock smith because you’re locked out and or because you’re lost a key and need the lock changed to make sure no one finds it and tried to let themselves in your house which I’m sure is sparse because you’re complaining about a few quid.

      It's been a year but In case anyone else is wondering... on the door frame inside with the top edge aligned with the middle of the Yale logo on the Conexis L1 and the side edge close to the door opening. Stick the metal plate into the plastic housing metal side into the housing and adhesive pad outward, then the sticky pad on the metal plate sticks to the door frame.

    Not impressed so far! Definitely would suggest only fitting it mon - fri daytime & when you have LOADS of free time to phone helpline - & wait! I fitted it bank holiday weekend - most popular time for diy of course - then had to unfit it because it didn't work & will have to wait 3 days until tuesday in hope they can tell me why it's not working or arrange replacement!
    Fitting appeared to go well, all seems straight forward. I read manual, got everything ready, watched video, etc & seemed pretty clear it shouldn't take long & it didn't. But then the problems started as the motor made noises, it just never moved the lock! It did lock the handles [on green? red unlocked - doesn't seem to tell you if that is how should be] but wouldn't unlock with the paired card. Tried again, this time with tag, that didn't work either. Still lock doesn't move with motor, only thumb latch locks/unlocks

    I have a problem regarding the screws that fix the mounting plate to the door (see 2:19). There are holes for all 3 screws in my door but the screw just under the handle will not go in all the way. The top and bottom screws fit perfect.. Will this be adequate?

    One problem I see with these in the future is the lock tries to actually lock itself when the handle is only lifted a little, so if the handle isn't fully lifted the gearing just sits there grinding away until you lift it fully. That will only last so long. Great product, badly designed.
