    I envy you so much that you have so much consistantly good weather; a far cry from the UK even in the summer.
    Your coverage of unusual topics on drones is most interesting and a most worthy watch.

    With the RC-N2, it is the flat side of the antenna that needs to be facing the drone. This means if the drone is a fair distance away, then you are best to hold the controller almost flat in front of you. If the drone is directly above you, then hold the controller vertically (as you were in the test).

    Here in Huber Heights, OH, I'm sandwiched between Dayton International and WPAFB. At home, my flight ceiling with military permission, is 100'. Ground altitude here is about 740'.
    I have LoS about a mile down my road if I turn the strobe night lights for my drone on. It will fly it well with the antennas angled, but not with them straight or at 90 degrees.
    It was one of the first tests I did, glad to see others doing it as well. Great video, look forward to your next round of testing.

    Hey Shaun - here in the mountains it is more difficult to use and check these settings - but I use it the way you do... But what I would be interessted in - what is your setting to get the best out of battery life? Should I deactivate some settings to get longer batterie life? Actually I have nearly all turned on - with the result of 15-18 min of flight time? This seems to be rather short - isn´t it? Cheers, Bernd

    • @shaunthedrone
      @shaunthedrone  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Bernd, I don't mess with any settings. Check your battery setting at the top of the screen, should show the cells, possible some have lost their power. If I get 20 minutes, that's good. DJI always go over the top with how long they last. Many thanks for watching.

    I always forget to extend those pesky antennas. Lol. I think it’s because I added a controller shade cover thing and once I flip up the cover they’re outta sight outta mind. Lol. People tell me all the time I’m doing it wrong. Hahaha

    I’ve not read all the comments but I know with the RC2 antennas that it’s the flat side of them that sends and receives a signal… so, it’s always going to be best to aim the flat side toward the aircraft.

    I read somewhere that it depends on where the drone is in relation to the you/controller. That if the drone is out in front of you, you want the antennas bent up 90 degrees so the back of the antennas are pointing at the drone. But if it is above you, then you want them flat so the front of the antennas are pointing at the drone...

    • @shaunthedrone
      @shaunthedrone  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes good point and a correct one. I'm sure I will be making more of these tests. Many thanks for watching.

    Hi, I am pretty sure the RC-N1 antennas are located inside the black plastic housing, perpendicular to the 2 metal shafts. Therefore, for maximum distance, you should hold your controller horizontally (antennas are vertical) and facing the drone.

    But what form of Aerial presence does the Radio wave take on from these? Differing systems have different shapes they occupy. We cant see it but it is there. I've got a couple lesser toys with single antenna that emit a Doughnut shaped field while the thing is pointed up or down.
    That will eat a few brains on here..

    How can we upgrade the distance? 1.5 kilometers I assume? Is not very much imo.

    • @shaunthedrone
      @shaunthedrone  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It all depends where you fly your drone, some places you will fly short while other places, you can fly for miles, upgrading the distance is a waste of money, that's my opinion. Many thanks for watching.
