If your 100 year old blue printed v twin, air cooled tractor engine isn't making some ticking, I'd be concerned. If cam noise bother's you, don't buy a Mikuni, that slide rattle will drive you nuts.
Just a tip for others thinking about installing a Woods TW222 cam in an otherwise stock 103. I had watched another earlier video where this cam was reported to be a “drop in” cam. For the most part, that is correct, but if you use your stock original push rods after you have “dropped it in,” you will NOT be happy with the resultant valve train noise. It is loud, and it makes you feel as if there is something substantially wrong with your install. You will wonder if you forgot to torque the rocker arm assembly, or messed up the cam bearing install. It is seriously that bad. The reason for the noise is a smaller base circle on the cams. The fix is to use adjustable push rods and make the proper adjustment. It gets rid of most of the noise. Not all of it, but at least you will feel a little better about whether the engine is about to fail on you. Just letting you know.
@@timmattle4730 As long as the push rods have been adjusted properly and your lifters have not failed-hopefully you replaced them, and you have good oil pressure, you should be ok. When I first “dropped them in” they were so noisy I was worried about the install. I did it myself. Finally decided to upgrade the cam plate, lifters, oil pump, and installed adjustable push rods and was much happier after that. I probably have about 8 thousand miles on them now. You might want to re-check the push rods for proper lash.
@@timmattle4730 Well after my new push rods the noise was a lot less. Had stock first, because of the “drop in” claim. Could not stand that noise so I reached out to Woods. They were the ones that said the old push rods wouldn’t work.
@@timmattle4730 Well I know you said you used an experienced tuner to do your work, but if it was me, I would check the push rod adjustment. If you are confident the lifters are all working correctly, the push rods would be the only other cause. Unless there is wear somewhere else. But that you are only experiencing it now, after the install, leads me away from that being the cause. How many miles on the bike? You would have needed to upgrade the air intake for those cams too. Did you do that?
@@timmattle4730 Ok. As long as the oil changes were kept up, wear shouldn’t be an issue. Which model? I ask because you said you don’t have an oil pressure gauge. Mine is in an FLHTCU Ultra Classic touring bike. It has an oil gauge.
I have the Woods cam in my mil8 and there is no stupid noise in my valve train at all. And you’re right, that rascal is a very real monster for jump up and go. It really brought that bike up to be recognized. I love it!
That's awesome to hear you don't a lot of increased valve train noise. Wood cams are aggressive and they nose off really quick, they are usually noticeably noisier than other performance cams for that reason but the trade off is explosive power.
@@GixxerFooThat’s my experience with it. My wife has a 117 FLHXST and I can whip her out of the hole with my 107 and that 222 cam. Top end is a good run yet still but she will pull out at around (way to fast) 😅
I have watched many of your videos and decided on a s&s 583c cam with feuling cam plate, pump and a crank gear to take some of the play out of the chain love the sound when it starts up has that race car sound, haven't gotten a tune yet but don't ride much until
Thanks for all of your great videos. I have a 2005 Fatboy that I bought used, stock. Your videos have really been clear and helpful to a non-mechanical guy like me, not only to learn about what I had bought back in 2015 but also the mods I have been making over time. In 2019, I did the Stage 2 cams, plate and pump, spring cam chain tensioners swap-out, tappets, etc. I am now in the process of doing Stages 3 & 4, pumping it up to 95ci, 10.5-1 pistons, and moderate head porting. I have watched all of your videos about these mods as part of my research and discussions with the mechanics. Big 👍.
Thank you for the support! I really appreciate it! Your building a hell of a bike and doing everything right on there! That bike is gonna run damn good and be reliable, best part is something special compared to all the new bikes.
I put in the fueling oem cam plate and oil pump, I have .004 run out with 40000 miles. I went with the oem plate because it’s more forgiving and a 551 S&S cam and lifters, like a new bike, love it!!
I've never even consider the valve train noise on my bike with my Woods 222 cam. I always thought riding on top of an engine your going to hear things you never do in a car. I ride with an open face helmut, but also never ride without my ear plugs on either. It's the wind that I worry about. I got good hearing and so far so good. That cam on my SGS, the head work I had done, plus all the other parts to upgade, just make the engine sing. I saw the numbers on the 103 you put up, and I'm similar: 116 torque with 103hp. Finally got good weather here and ready for a first ride tomorrow. Can't wait to feel the wind in my face again. Thanks for another great video. I really love these.
My 96" FXDB is in getting some Reaper 574 cams. Next spring, I'll be looking at jugs and head work. Your videos gave me the inspiration to just go for it. Thanks!
My 2000 Softail Deuce has stock compression and displacement. Previous owner installed Woods TW-8 cam. I can attest to the valve train noise. Definitely needs some more compression to really shine.
Every post you make just helps me with my decisions on my 2008 96 twin cam, I have had a few people tell me it's time for a cam , but will have to wait and see. Just got a tuner and high flow air filter to go with my slip ons . Thanks again for all you do .
Gixxerfoo you the reason I went with woods tw-6 cam on my 05 road king and upgraded screaming eagle performance cam chest and oil pump! My engine temps have never been cooler and the chop sound form the cams is insane and loud ! Next year is a upgrade you recommend,is the 98 big bore kit from fuel moto for the 88 ,I hope I could hit the 100hp mark on the Dyno !
Dude! Your videos are great and your consideration are the best! Know that alot of us love your videos when times get tough and the hatters jump in! Thank you!
I appreciate that! I've seen some critical comments which I don't mind at all, everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect that. But my gosh you guys jump in and back me up like no other!
Keep in mind, once you go to a certain level of cam, other parts need to go with it. Carb, intake manifold, ignition timing (ignition module like Dynatek), valve springs (and head work in general), and sometimes cam clearancing in the cam chest, and Adjustable push rods. My favorite cams for the for 88 or 95 inch twinkie is the S&S 510. Spicy cam. I think 90% of average riders would be very happy with this cam. If all you want is a cam upgrade with no other work, this is the one I recommend bar none. Currently I'm running a gear drive Cycle Rama 575 cam in a 95 twink, with head work, springs, piston, and what have you on my Wide Glide. This is my third engine for my Wide Glide, and feel I finally have what I've been searching for.
Engine life versus cam swap. A cam that doesn't require new springs is completely rider dependent. Run to it redline every time you ride it and it will be early failure. For the rest of us it's an afterthought. As for the M8, not swapping stock tappets for quality is a serious gamble. As a long time fan of Bob Wood I just tried the 30/30 cam by George Bryce in a 2020 Road Glide and I have been converted.
@@GixxerFoo fantastic content and info my man! Appreciate all that you do for the community…have you any experience with the TTS CAMS? R&B race exhaust recommends them so I was curious love there Exhausts as well. Please let me know your thoughts and enjoy your Weekend. Mark G 9:53
George Bryce knows a thing or two about hotrod Harleys and more specifically cams! He has four cams for the M8 from the 30-30 to all out..... The next in line above the 30-30 is the F35A..... He has a couple of great Twinkie cams also and all his cams have that nostalgic Harley sound which is a huge plus!!!
Look into 570-2 cyclorama cams. I got 98.7 h.p. and 116 ftlbs of tourque. Installed and tuned by shaeffers h.d. in owigsburg pa. Nice and quiet. Still getting 43 to 44 mpg when cruising. Drag specialties headpipe with stock covers. Vance and hines pipes. K and n air filter with stock cover. 31 degrees of timing
Did a stage 4/114 on my 107 and went with a red shift 468. Definitely happy with it and it pulled nice on the dyno. It’s not a big bore kit so I think I’m pretty safe with that cam. Love your videos, always some great information.
I absolutely agree with you about Wood cams, I have an 03 FXD 95 in, Darkhorse crank, Mondello heads Wood TG8 gear drive cams and 10.5-1 comp. It really hauls and is snappy quick with the stock stroke
So, I did a bolt in S&S 583 in my 3k mile Dyna Low Rider. Didn’t change the cam plate or the oil pump. It produced 90hp 112tq. I’m not banging the rev limiter but just thrash it all the time. Just hit 5k miles and it’s had three oil changes. I have another bike for touring, this one is just a toy. You would make me sad if you thought I needed to baby it more.
Threw a set of fueling reaper 525 on my 96ci dyna today. That and the new PV4… I’m having a blast. Little bit of noise I guess but not really. Just a nice boost in the torque and lope to the idle. 😊😊😊
I put in a Jims USA 818 cam in my 2019 Tri-Glide and now she is a monster ... 103HP and 130LB-FT and now I can actually get back on 2-wheels from a stop. 😁😁 I get max torque at 3570 RPM, which is just awesome for how I ride. I considered going with the Wood cams, since I had them in my 2013 Road Glide, but my local speed shop said he had much better low end power with the Jims with less hassle.
@kendean2119 I'm not 100% sure about the H, but the rest is correct. My local speed shop recommended, bought, and installed it and dyno'd it. I'd have to look on Jim's again.

I've got S&S 585s and they're a longer duration than say the woods profiles and I can still hear my valves... compression ratio is 10.25:1. It's a killer setup in a 103, got a little headwork and making well over a hundred horses. But let's face it you're 100% correct performance cams can be noisy, I wouldn't call it a problem tho more like par for the course.
A cam shapes power, so choose what fits your riding style and motorcycle. My 2013 Ultra Limited was horrible (in my opinion) stock. 78 ft pounds of TQ @2,000 RPM peaking at 90 TQ @3,000 RPM. After replacing the cam, exhaust, air filter, and tune it hit 103 ft pounds of TQ @ 2,000 RPM peaking at 106 @2,325. The change made the engine run cooler and had 25 more ft pounds of TQ @ 2,000 RPM. I went from hating my engine to loving it.
Hey gixxer Ive done a 95 big bore kit on my tc 88 ,forged pistons 10.5/1 se performance heads , dynatek tc88 ignition , 2-1 exhaust Ali cam chest ,hydraulic tensioner ;high flow oil pump etc , kit came with se211 cam and goes like a rocket but can’t help thinking I’m missing out on some power using this cam especially after watching your vids on woods cams
I went with an s&s475 bolt in on the sg. I love it. Big power gain and quieter than stock. I only did cam, lifters, and adj pushrods/ covers. Has been 8 months/ 6k miles and I'm content with it for now. I did try a SE torque cam and it just didn't do it for me. Jerked that sucker out with less than 10 miles and stuck the ss in.
I went for a screaming eagle power cam on my 2020 softail slim, and whilst it may not provide all the performance of aftermarket cams it still feels like a worthwhile upgrade and I expect it is designed to work with the engine design developed by Harley
You would think. I don't trust Harley Davidson as far as they're going to make what's right ! I just spent 22hundred on my 06 fatboy in parts that should of been in the bike from the factory
My 2012 RK is getting new cams camchest, oil pump, lifters, pushrods, all Screamin' Eagle, the shop had the parts. At 50,030 something broke in the cam chest and rubbed a groove in one of the cams. So long income tax check and then some.. If you don't love' em, then don't ride' em.
Another trade off is low rpm, low load drivability; i.e. 15mph steady speed in 1st gear. And yes, that is a normal riding condition; especially if you drive on a military installation.
I really enjoy your video's, I have a 2000 Road King, lots of TLC was needed. Performance wise, Thunder Max: ECM, tuner, wide bang O2 censor, manifold, fuel injection system, Vance & Hines headers, S&S oil pump,,,,, and I'm very pleased with it , I have a itch for a wood cam. Lol
From what I have seen in my research the Star 30/30 and a woods 22xe are pretty similar in power and torque. If you have a tuner that knows what they are doing
Did an S&S square 100 with 585 cams. 10.5 to 1. I have about 2500 miles on it. 06 88 tc in an flhtci. First of all. Those noises are part of what makes a high performance build desirable. I love the noise. As far as durability.... The big HP gains have had me running the bike a lot harder and Im sure that will negatively impact longevity. Not to mention the belt on a 1000 lb bike. I will say I dont feel like the tuner has it right yet. It wont run smooth while trying to be mellow. Steady low rpm in town it doesnt sound happy... which only makes me run hard more. It will pull the front wheel in 1st and 2nd. Not wheelies... just pulls the wheel if I get pissed at some ahole from low speed. Also in this day and age theres fuel economy. I commute on my bike as often as possible. At stock 88 I got as high as 42 mpg. At 100 I have seen 33 but mostly its right around 30. I know... as if that matters. But just another consideration.
I have a 16 SGS with a 103 motor…upgrades include: big sucker intake, CFR slip on with catless header and a set of S&S 570 cams and using a FP3 tuner. I was looking at the 110 kit but after watching your videos, you showed me that a bump to a 107 kit will get me great numbers.. Any advice would be greatly helpful. Thank you.
96" with stock cams was driving me nutts with the tic tic tic sewing machine sound, now with Andrews 48H it's more noticeable. Dreading taking the tank off, pulling the covers and adding rocker lockers but I guess that's the next project. Stock cam bearings are so crap that one broke after it was removed taking it off the cam puller tool.
Always love to see a new video. I have a dyna fxdb 103 and starts to have preignition. I have short shots on it and everything else is stock. I’m looking for a powervision to fix the lean mix. What do u think?
Great info from an informed source. I would be interested to know if you've ever made a video on sprocket sizes. How a bigger engine sprocket and a smaller drive sprocket in the primary would effect performance or a larger transmission drive sprocket and a smaller wheel sprocket would work! Just some of the things I think about. LOL
Many years ago, on my old shovelhead, I increased my engine sprocket and my trans sprocket and decreased my rear wheel sprocket. I did live in the panhandle of Texas, where there is nothing out there. I loved it. It dropped my rpm by about 750 rpm. Way better gas mileage. The only drawback is that in city driving, thete is more wear on the clutch.
Great video man. So I have 525 cams in this twin cam 95" road king. Is the wood tw6 cams stronger torque cams than the 525 which hit in the midrange and ramp up....I want the most torque I can get.
It's really hard to beat that 525 you got, they are so close together comparing the two. If you didn't already have a good cam in there it would really be a toss up.
hey man excellent tutorials, i really enjoy them. once in a while with my stage 1 96 engine if i really hop on it in a certain gear , i hear a little "squeak" sound? any ideas on what that could be? also, im planning to do a 96-110 s&s conversion kit soon. thanks, steve
My 99Ultra TC has a Woods 5 conversion Cam. It's perfect with 3:37 gearing and my my ported flowed heads an intake manifold for my CV44. It's very stout as this guy in Chicago flowed the heads at 285. No idea what the torque is for this 95 but never worried about it as the Super Trapp 2-1 sounds mean as hell.
@@GixxerFoo that's why I'm keeping her plus my buddy built the motor, God rest his soul. She needs new paint though... You think I can buy painted parts for a 99 Ultra?
I had a 96 to 103 conversion done on my 08 Night train, I also added the Fueling 543 Reaper cam chest kit. WOW! Now I have 101 hp with 110 ftp of torque! I don’t notice top end noise…
Something I never see addressed is fuel mileage. I’m considering a cam swap at the end of next season, after the warranty is gone. Probably S&S 475 for my 107. I don’t care about performance numbers, it’s mostly about the sound and acceleration when you need it. But, I daily drive it, weather permitting here in the Midwest. What would that do to my mpg? I’m getting about 38 now.
My 2020 Road Glide with Ventilator Air Cleaner, 4.5 inch Tabs with Zombie inserts and a screaming beagle tuner was usually 50-52 paper and pencil figured fuel economy. With a Star Racing 30/30 cam, knight prowler tappets, S&S cam chest and Fuel pak 3 it is now at 42-46 mpg. Hope that helps. I will also add one afternoon a group of us went out horsing around and I refueled on the way home it was 34. Playing hard wipes out mpg.
Love your videos. I will stay away from Twin Cams. Now, I love the EVO. It’s dependable. But can’t really stand increasing HP. And my M8 is great! I can get high HP with dependability. 🏍💨🏍💨
The feeling kid I bought came with a new camp plate bearings lifters and camps. I went gear to gear got rid of the timing chain. How do you feel about the Feeling kids
Really depends what kind of riding but being on an ultra l would guess your looking for the low to mid range and not so much wide open power. If low to mid is what you're after the 570 would be a good cam for your bike.
My evo ultra classic has a very high lift cam and it was great with the 5 speed but I put a 6 speed and I'm thinking about changing the cam to a smaller one because at 75 mph I can't run in 6 gear
@GixxerFoo the cam comes in about 3200 rpm to 5000 and the 6 speed gear kit I put in the bike 6 gear is .86 so about 2900 rpm at 75 mph but the cam is more lift that were I ride at
Cam gear/pinion gear noise or whine? All the Harley Screaming Eagle Evo cams I've installed in the past decade or 3 have been marked and made by Andrews. Pinion gears are not cheap. If the new cam gear ain't right, I just press the factory-matched gear off the original cam and put it on the new cam.
I’m preparing to purchase my first Harley soon . I would like to ask for some tips on what to look for in purchasing a used Harley and what to steer clear of please ? Thanks in advance
@@bigblue3568 Thank You for the tip . I’ve already found several beautiful bikes with thousands in upgrades that have a nice price tag. Between $5,000-$10,000 and no issues
I run woods 222 in my 103. I have noticed that if I use amsoil the noise or ticking is louder than if I used Harley oil. After replacing the cams I broke it in using Harley oil nice and good sound and after 500 mi changed it out to amsoil there is alot of difference.
Ideally that would be the way to do it, if you're doing your own work that's the way to go. It's difficult to be at a shop and say tear it down and measure runout, I'll go from there. You're already in a decent amount of money in labor right there.
About to do cams on my 09 dyna fxdc tc96. Not wanting to do a big bore any time soon. Wanting more passing power/torque. Think woods TW222 would be a good choice? Already have air cleaner and pipes.
Check out Andrews 48H it's kinda the go to cam for 96". Just did mine few weeks ago, nice new sound and power according to butt dyno. Mpg took a hit though..
GixerFoo, I’m planning on sending my left case half to Hammer Performance for installation of the Timken bearings for the crank of my ‘06 88 TC. I’m also planning on sending them my cylinders to bore them to 98 ci and the heads for CNC porting. The Hammer Performance pistons are supposed to give me a 10.5:1 compression ratio and I’d like to use a S&S Easy Start cam to make it easier to start and easier on my starter and battery. Would you consider doing a video on these Easy Start cams? My other question is that with these modifications I should be into the lower hundred range on horsepower and torque. Am I pushing the limits of the stock Harley belt final drive and/or the stock 6 speed transmission. I plan on adding a Fuel Moto/AIM Variable Pressure clutch and a Darkhorse Man O-War compensator along with a manual primary chain adjuster. Will this bring the rest of the drivetrain up to being able to handle the power that I’m planning on producing from these engine mods? Do you have any other suggestions other than exhaust, air cleaner, oil cooler, and a dyno tune for the finished project?
I just did the square 100 kit on my 06 88. Its in an flhtci. I also have concerns for the belt. Plus the added performance has had me running way harder than I did stock. After some 2500 to 3,000 miles Im starting to mellow out. The easy start cam starts right up with 10.5 to 1. Cranks just like it did stock. As for noise there is a loud clank when you shut her down. Its the little flipper on the lobes. Its a strange sound that will make you think bad things. But its normal. Also the engine has a pleasing sort of lope at idle. I am nit 100% pleased with the tune yet. Too rich in spots. Doesnt feel happy unless your running it hard. I did not dyno over 100. I think it was 95 ft lbs and 89 hp. I have the stock head pipes. Going to swap them out this season. The other draw back is no oxy sensors on my built in October 05 bike. So fuel management could be better. Runs like a beast though.
They make power up there with the Wood, they have a killer sound at idle too! Star Racing has been around a long time and won a lot of championships in drag racing. The 3030 is an excellent choice for a bolt in with a 107, it makes power comparable to the Wood 222 for the M8.
Can I ask you a question! I have a S.E. 110ci with a zippers 587 cam and was going to bump my Compression from the stock 9.2 to 10.1 would that Cause problems?
I just did this to my 110,s&s 570 cams,lifters, cam plate,bumped compression to 10.1 and a good tune..runs great..torque 114,HP 98..couldn't be happier!!!
Do you know if you can just replace the inlet cams on the xl1200? I've got the stock and 249 degree SE cams available and am looking to try some things to get a bit of mid range back without losing *all* the top end
I had the Feuling camchest kit installed on my ‘13 street glide. It came with adjustable pushrods, cam plate, oil pump and of course cams. It created a ton of noise. How do I know if it’s normal valve-train noise or something like valve to piston contact. I’m very concerned as I’ve never heard the noise on any other bike. I’m afraid the pushrods weren’t adjusted properly or something like that.
Since you've got a touring bike l think you'd like TW-222. That's a killer all around power cam, excellent bottom end and then it takes off and pulls all the way to the redline. With a good exhaust, air cleaner and tune it's not uncommon to see 100+ horse and torque on the 103.
I've outgrown my stage 4 131 installed in my R.G. I too am a Woods cam fan. I'm torn between a 22XE and 77X, any suggestions or input? And as for the cam plate and oil pump, it is a crate 131 so they're supposed to have upgraded this and or that but who really knows. Any words on an aftermarket swap? Thanks in advance
You've definently got the the right setup already to support the 77X, the factory cam in the 131 really holds it back. You won't be sacrificing horsepower at all even though that's a torquey cam. I would go 77X since your motor is already setup to support it. It uh, it will really wake it up and come life on another level.
Thanks for the great cam info in this vid Gixxer. I've got a stock 2012 Heritage Softail 103 and was thinking about a Woods cam. What model Woods cam would you recommend or should I consider a different one? I'm looking for better low and midrange passing torque but not too concerned with top end power. I'm also getting a PV3 to improve the mapping with a custom program. Thanks.
that's interesting you say woods cams would be noiser my 103 B is WAY quieter with my woods 777 cams and woods lifters with the use of the HD screaming eagle push rods
What kind of cams do you recommend for a 2007 street glide with the 96” twin cam? I want more power and a nice lobe without sacrificing my fuel mileage
Opening the exhaust valve early makes the exhaust louder and lumpier and carries the HP out a little further, which most people like.....but it does cut into MPG’s bleeding that power stroke cylinder pressure early. For mpg’s compare cams and look for one that opens exhaust valve later....closer to BDC.
Does valve train noise bother you on your Harley-Davidson, do you even pay attention to it? Let us know!
I don't pay attention, besides I run a very loud vh two into one
Can't hear it over the pipes
Definitely listen for any new or odd noises that's not usual. I noticed more noise from the motor with a more open performance air cleaner, not a lot.
Valve train noise is more of a consideration on motorcycles with fairings. "Naked" motorcycles the noise will be less noticeable.
If your 100 year old blue printed v twin, air cooled tractor engine isn't making some ticking, I'd be concerned. If cam noise bother's you, don't buy a Mikuni, that slide rattle will drive you nuts.
I swear I need a Gixxerfoo neighbor got damnit 😩🤘🙌
I assure you, things would get interesting 😀
He records the farts at the end of each video while sitting in a lawn chair in his front yard. That’s what his real neighbors say.
@@timmattle4730
As long as the push rods have been adjusted properly and your lifters have not failed-hopefully you replaced them, and you have good oil pressure, you should be ok.
@@timmattle4730
Well after my new push rods the noise was a lot less. Had stock first, because of the “drop in” claim. Could not stand that noise so I reached out to Woods. They were the ones that said the old push rods wouldn’t work.
@@timmattle4730
Well I know you said you used an experienced tuner to do your work, but if it was me, I would check the push rod adjustment.
@@timmattle4730
Is your oil pressure around 50psi for most of the time, only dropping below 32 at idle?
@@timmattle4730
Ok. As long as the oil changes were kept up, wear shouldn’t be an issue. Which model? I ask because you said you don’t have an oil pressure gauge. Mine is in an FLHTCU Ultra Classic touring bike. It has an oil gauge.
"I really like Wood cams" as he stand in front of the Andrews High Performance Cams sign. LOL.
Andrews grinds the wood cams
Andrew's literally makes the cams for Woods Performance... LOL
Thanks for the tip on the weight of the Softail liking a torquey’er cam, no one ever mentions it! 👍
No problem at all! If you've got a heavier bike you for sure wants some more torque or you'll be lacking on the bottom end.
@docracer75 machine in a set of manual compression releases. I wish I had.
@@nelsonromero3520 Thanks for the suggestion. It's on the work order with the mechanic.
Congratulations friendo. That bowed shelf used to kill me. Thanks a million.
Not to mention in the A engine vibration at idle...
I can't get away from my leineweber bump sticks , and valvetrain parts , from my stock 80 inch through my 140 incher , they make them work !
Every post you make just helps me with my decisions on my 2008 96 twin cam, I have had a few people tell me it's time for a cam , but will have to wait and see. Just got a tuner and high flow air filter to go with my slip ons . Thanks again for all you do .
I used SE 255 cam set and am very pleased
Amazing torque on a budget
Interesting, I will have to check those cams out!
@@GixxerFoo fantastic content and info my man! Appreciate all that you do for the community…have you any experience with the TTS CAMS? R&B race exhaust recommends them so I was curious love there Exhausts as well. Please let me know your thoughts and enjoy your Weekend.

Cyclerama makes some killer cams, they are highly underrated honestly.
On what bike/ engine?
Did a stage 4/114 on my 107 and went with a red shift 468. Definitely happy with it and it pulled nice on the dyno. It’s not a big bore kit so I think I’m pretty safe with that cam. Love your videos, always some great information.
If you didn't do cylinders, you didn't do stage 4. If you didn't do the heads either, you're at stage 2.
I absolutely agree with you about Wood cams, I have an 03 FXD 95 in, Darkhorse crank, Mondello heads Wood TG8 gear drive cams and 10.5-1 comp. It really hauls and is snappy quick with the stock stroke
Appreciate you sharing your experience n opinions.
Damn you're in OK? I'm over in the Tulsa area. The weather has been great so far. Don't want to jinx it.
Yeah, I thought about that after I said that... don't mess around in Oklahoma the weather can turn on you real quick.
I like my Star 30/30 cam , your right about picking the right one
I put in a Jims USA 818 cam in my 2019 Tri-Glide and now she is a monster ... 103HP and 130LB-FT and now I can actually get back on 2-wheels from a stop. 😁😁 I get max torque at 3570 RPM, which is just awesome for how I ride.
I considered going with the Wood cams, since I had them in my 2013 Road Glide, but my local speed shop said he had much better low end power with the Jims with less hassle.
That's awesome! We need more trikes out there like that!
Is this the Max-Cell 818h

Will the Wood cams still give you that ticking with rocker lockers?
What size. Of bolt. In cam. Will work. Good. Later in. If. Build. Bike. Go. 103.
I went for a screaming eagle power cam on my 2020 softail slim, and whilst it may not provide all the performance of aftermarket cams it still feels like a worthwhile upgrade and I expect it is designed to work with the engine design developed by Harley
Dealership brainwashing at its best....😂🤣😂
You would think. I don't trust Harley Davidson as far as they're going to make what's right ! I just spent 22hundred on my 06 fatboy in parts that should of been in the bike from the factory
Only screamin' eagle thing I left on mine is the air cleaner insert , it looks really cool and doesn't hurt the performance much (adds 6 ounces) .
Thank you for all your wisdom 🙏🏽🙏🏽
The Wood cam is a beast.... Well explained brother💯👊🏼😎
Those are upgraded will be well worth the investment, you won't be disappointed and you'll have peace of mind!
@@GixxerFoo The mechanic at the Indy shop said it will be bulletproof. WOOHOO
Wiseco 10.5 pistons with S&S 585 easy starts. Great combo.
Another trade off is low rpm, low load drivability; i.e. 15mph steady speed in 1st gear. And yes, that is a normal riding condition; especially if you drive on a military installation.
Do I have to remove the push rods and lifters to install a bolt in cam in my 2020 sportster
Lol
I enjoy the tips that you give and all of the videos
I kinda enjoy the whirring sound of the performance cams.
What about Andrews cams! You have a big huge sign up there you didn't mention them once! I have a EV 59 cam in my bike and I love it!
The fart is back! 🍑💨💨💨
LOL
That's a really great idea!!
@@GixxerFoo ...OK man, thank you for responding, much appreciated

What you think about a woods 6-6r in a 01 88 inch? Got the kit from fuel moto, complete cam chest kit plus lifter’s and there adjustable push rods, ??
My 99Ultra TC has a Woods 5 conversion Cam. It's perfect with 3:37 gearing and my my ported flowed heads an intake manifold for my CV44. It's very stout as this guy in Chicago flowed the heads at 285. No idea what the torque is for this 95 but never worried about it as the Super Trapp 2-1 sounds mean as hell.

I went from 42 ish to 36 after adding cam to twin cam.
Great video! I ordered a S&S 475 for my 22 Road King 107. You think that's a good way to go? I was torn between the Star 3030 and the S&S 475. Thanks

Love your video's, I have a 2015 Ultra limited, would the S&S 570 be the cam for me. ?
Really depends what kind of riding but being on an ultra l would guess your looking for the low to mid range and not so much wide open power. If low to mid is what you're after the 570 would be a good cam for your bike.

That must be a really tall 6th gear, you'd think that cam would be enough of a bump to pull that 6th gear.

I have a Street Glide ST that came with performance cams from the factory, just like the CVO. I never experienced this at all.
I’m preparing to purchase my first Harley soon . I would like to ask for some tips on what to look for in purchasing a used Harley and what to steer clear of please ? Thanks in advance

I have noticed that if I use amsoil the noise or ticking is louder than if I used Harley oil.
After replacing the cams I broke it in using Harley oil nice and good sound and after 500 mi changed it out to amsoil there is alot of difference.
@@kellumreynolds6113 Harley dino oil or synthetic?
Hi mate can you please do a review on the S&SMR103 cam thanks
Should run out be checked before investing $?
Ideally that would be the way to do it, if you're doing your own work that's the way to go. It's difficult to be at a shop and say tear it down and measure runout, I'll go from there. You're already in a decent amount of money in labor right there.
It's just like building a hotrod car. The more levels you go up in performance the more everything goes up. Gas, money, maintenance and failures.
Can you still use steel lifters with a Wood cam?
I know you like wood cam bout what's your thought on Star Racing 3030 cam for a 2020 RoadGlide 107
They make power up there with the Wood, they have a killer sound at idle too! Star Racing has been around a long time and won a lot of championships in drag racing. The 3030 is an excellent choice for a bolt in with a 107, it makes power comparable to the Wood 222 for the M8.
Is a screamin Eagle camchest and oil pump kit that much worse than fueling or S&S ?
Can you add a 4 degree advance cam sprocket on a Woods cam that is already advance. Tks
Where in Oklahoma?
Do you know if you can just replace the inlet cams on the xl1200? I've got the stock and 249 degree SE cams available and am looking to try some things to get a bit of mid range back without losing *all* the top end
Dunno if you heard of Andrews cams but be good to hear you talk about them. A lot of people use them
The stock cams in my 1965 Triumph TR-6 lasted 50 years.
What’s the best wood cam for a 103HO. I ride low rpm’s. And love the galloping sound at idle.
PS. Water cooled heads.

Best tuner in the Intermountain west.
So would the hd torque can be more reliable? If I were to ride my bike hard?
that's interesting you say woods cams would be noiser my 103 B is WAY quieter with my woods 777 cams and woods lifters with the use of the HD screaming eagle push rods
