Arctic driving south to collect goods for Christmas

- A secret kept is now shared as I drive south to make a special collection that will save me thousands and get the kitchen finished for Christmas.
I also have to visits the poultry barn to check on the chickens and ducks.
My Best friend falls very sick, this is harder than the rest.

Ho Simon and Sarah, so very sorry for the loss of good old friend. R.I.P. Thomas. Even when one knows it’s going to happen, it still hits bloody hard. Happened yesterday …. A class mate from primary to high school who was in California for a few years was diagnosed with gastric cancer not quite 3 months ago and didn’t respond to aggressive treatment was flying back home to Fiji, the air hostess went up to her and mentioned the plane had entered Fiji waters……not long after her son noticed she wasn’t responding to him talking to her. She just needed to know she was home.
The scenery on the drive to the city and back was gorgeous. The chooks and ducks look very cosy in their barn too.
Yes, it’s ceases to amaze me the quiet calmness during winter. Love that solitude of it. Opps! Pleased we aren’t in Alaska this year then! In fact, we are off to some of the Sub Antarctic Islands of New Zealand then will drive round the South Island which we are really, really looking forward to this year.
Kasper is so much fun to watch. His little mannerisms bring a huge smile.
Looking forward to the kitchen coming together….what a bonus Simon.

Thank you Anne, it is great you do so much traveling and South Island will be amazing. I was headed for Northland so I could live in shorts and sliders with the view of being able to drive to south island for winter sports. That was the idea anyway but NZ said no so here I am. I am starting to hear of out of control cancers all very sad. You both enjoy your upcoming adventure and have fun. Take care.
@@arctic-rebel we leave home on the 16/12 for Queenstown hire a car and head to The Caitlin’s then head back to Queenstown for a night 20/12 (1st night to expedition) then head down to Bluff Port to board the Heritage Adventurer for 12 days. 31/12 is spent in Invercargill and then round the South Island heading back on 11/01/24. Don’t worry, I will be looking out for your Videos while away when Wifi is available!😊Simon that’s because you weren’t a refugee…..nasty indeed. It has changed soooo much over the last 25-30 yrs and so has Australia…..of course the 5 👁️s don’t help the people. You would have really like Northland too then, I don’t know about now though…
We have a pm who mingles with protesters! Somewhat in disguise! If it weren’t true it would be laughable, so very, very sad ….

I'm so sorry for your loss.. to loose a friend that's always been there.. it is hard🤎 All the best to his family, I hope they are all ok.. My mentor, best friend, idol and the best grandfather anyone could have used to say " You do not know when the day is over until the sun has set.. we are all going to die one day, but all of the other days we are going to live, and live good". Those words still bring me comfort in any situation. Great score on the kitchen by the way.. Thank you, there will at last be enough storage in the kitchen. Living in an old school sounds cool but all you get are huge empty rooms. This is not a women's idea convenient.

Sorry for your friend, in that cold it is a hard life, also with no sun for so many months it is even more hard and depressing....Be healty take care and all the best for you, lady and the brown beauty. Glad to watch evrery video, you can also make shorter one, no need to film some exotic things, even 15 min to see how chicken are doing and if they laid eggs :) In your region even to go outside for 30 min it is extreme for me. Thank you, the life is something I got used to really fast. Even the darkness is not a problem for me but it is a hard life for sure. The video's are always cut down from many hours to short ones. I have made short video's and will make more. Take care

I have watched you talk about Thomas a lot over the last 2 or 3 years now and know how fond of him you are with many great things talked about and his decline now for some time . I cant lie , watching you bring the flag to half staff choked me up and made my eyes fill up with this liquid shit . My condolences to you and his family .

I know you have been with us from the start and without Tomas some things would not have been possible at all. The care I gave him was so small to what he gave us and will always be grateful for. I will miss that grumpy old man more than I should.

Have you ever changed the cabin air filter on that van? It might be causing the freezing if your engine temps are at 90 but it won't still blow warm air
Fully serviced in the summer, the video is in my back catalog. The freezing is the result of -27C on the other side of the glass.

Our cars have never froze on the windows. My VW van did and now the ford does. What can I tell you. It must be a van thing.

Good idea, I do have a question though can you see through them ok because I would be a bit concerned driving with even more restrictions and how do they stop the windows from freezing? Non of the windows were frozen when I drove it out of the heated workshop at 5am? Do they work at -27C?
yes if not yellow use to use them as a kid. gives a air pocket faster and easier to heat @@arctic-rebel
