I have had one of these for 6 months or so, agree with your findings on all counts. I set it up in our family room for a quick football game or some Christmas movies, and bring it with me when I travel. Nice to throw up a quick 132" screen on a toupe wall, and I have a simple (I e. Cheap!) Project screen I plan to be able to quickly throw up for outside movie night on the side of the house. You definitely get what you pay for, and in some ways more.

I've purchased 3 of these (!) projectors under the DBPower and Yaber "brand name". Why 3? Because after initially trying 6 other and different projectors in this same $ range I chose this "one" as the first one I got was the only one that could playback a smooth 4K 60pfs signal from my PC, and it is very straight forward to disassemble and reassemble. Why? I've taken my first and main one apart upwards of 15 times, several just to clean dust from the elements in the light path. Long story short; the second one purchased was to get new elements (fresnel lens', polarizer, and screen) as they all became burnt after only about 6 months. This second one purchased, nay reordered from the same Amazon listing, had completely different processing PCB, fresnel lens', polarizer, and LCD screen inside... all inferior to the one I already had, so that one was returned! The 3rd of the same outer case form factor was from the "Yaber" brand as they seemed to be more like an actual "brand" or company, unlike "DBPower", and would be more inclined to have the "good" components inside. It turned out I was half right and the light path elements were the same as my original, but the processor PCB was different and inferior as it had a MASSIVE lag delay and couldn't even do 1080p 60FPS perfectly smoothly. But now I had a selection of parts I could use to repair my original "box" including new elements to replace the burnt ones and 2 more fans I could mount on the outside of the projector (with custom pre-filters), and fully seal all other "holes" anywhere on the projector in order to create a fully filtered positive pressure cool air cooling system, including internal customizations to allow and direct more of the new fresh air across the elements to more directly cool them. I was proud of my accomplishment and was glad to have taken that journey into understanding what these products are really all about. But alas, the new elements became "burnt" in the same amount of time or less. I think they just are not designed to have so much light radiation exposure as they receive from the LED light source. SO, I moved up, and the tech caught up, and now I'm using the Yaber Ace K1. It is like they went on the same journey as I did and actually engineered something better in (nearly) all of the necessary and required ways. It is a true sealed light path, has 3, yes THREE individual heat pipe systems and fans, and weighs upwards of 8.5 pounds because of it. So far its been great. Though not perfect such a more pronounced screen door effect, and a contrast that needs to be adjusted more often due to its propensity to crush blacks, though the "white" end of color space is much less prone to being blown out and I really appreciate that. Oh and BTW, ALWAYS turn the "sharpness" setting down to ZERO and THEN raise it just a couple to a few notches ONLY if you can actually see that it has any actual positive effect on image quality. Cheers! ;)

Hey Toid! Thanks for the great video. I am looking for a budget projector under 500 dollars for a daylight church setting. Services are only in the morning, and the ambient is quite lighted. Would this be the one? Would you be able to recommend me one?

I’m loving my K1 as my first ever outdoor budget projector. Using it with a Firestick and get all your streaming services. Only thing I’m trying to figure out is how to get an easy speaker setup to it. I suppose I could use BT but there already is a very minor audio delay with the built in speakers while streaming. So I’m afraid BT will be much worse and would prefer a wired speaker option. Would the headset port work for a speaker?

Hey Toid, looks like maybe a good option for the kids, or I like your idea of using this outdoors where that fan may not be such a problem. Side note, why do I feel like that remote is in so many budget products...I have a number a class d desktop amps sitting here with it's clone, and I just love it when they dont come with batteries! 🙃

This projector looks good until it starts to put a blue or orange stain on the projection. The truth is that I do not recommend it at all and the brand does not respond to this LED failure

I will tell you all something guys like this should never review a budget projector. Cuz he has money and that's fine and that's great but he's not speaking to the right people. the people that would buy this projector would be thrilled with the quality of the picture and the size and wouldn't give a damn about the loud fan

I’ve reviewed quite a few budget projectors, and there’s a lot of really good ones. This really isn’t one. I didn’t show the calibration settings on this, but I do go over the calibration settings on most of my videos. And I did use some of the calibrations of the wimius versus some other budget projectors in this video here. th-cam.com/video/liaqiXQ4kQY/w-d-xo.html you can get a lot better picture for your money then this projector.

@@Toid Well please, tell me now cos tmrw I have a Wimius K8 arriving. Not the same as K1, in fact, do you know anything about the K8? THe price dropped to $100 the day I bought it a couple days ago.
If you know of something better for that $ tell me please.
Oh, I watched your video already of you comparing your JVC againsat the....Appollo P20...I cant remember the brand.
      Ultimea I think.
Anyway, that thing iss now like $180! I wish I wasnt stretched so thin now, Id get that instead

@@metaldreams3595 I haven’t personally reviewed the Wimius K8, so I can’t really speak to that. But I’m sure you’ll be happy with it. I’ve been really impressed with budget projectors recently. In fact, one of my favorite beginner budget projectors is under $100 and I gave that to one of my friends who used to have an old Epson projector. He was blown away at how much better it is then his Epson. The point being that most budget projectors are pretty good nowadays. And I am happy to recommend good budget projectors. This us the projector he now has: th-cam.com/video/NSE3QeF4f2Y/w-d-xo.html

I received the K-8 and I think you are right I'm going to like it a lot. The only thing is that if you said any Keystone digital you can't do anything else or itll knock it out.
Oh and I noticed something that's pretty exciting is that whenever I switch it to my PC or my on TV smart TV blog it says 1080p 60 hertz. If I have a 60 hertz refresh rate that's awesome man right for games
