Dogs are clever. We got a clicker a while back as we go for off leash walks on the beach. We did the click and gave them a treat once and they got it. Just worked from then on.
@@kobus1379 it is amazing how quickly they can understand what’s needed. Out of curiosity, what breed? Guessing something with high intellect if they got it so quickly. Thanks for watching and commenting 💙🧡❤️
For anyone reading this: I know that dog training can be difficult sometimes, but you're doing great. Keep up the good work, and your dog (and your own sanity) will thank you for it! ❤️💕
So pleased I found your channel today 😊 Very helpful video for a girl picking up her second lab puppy on Sunday and wanting to learn about the whistle 😊 thank you.
@@Avert87 aww this is fantastic to hear (on all fronts). Have you settled on a name for the pup yet? Exciting times lie ahead. Please feel free to subscribe to the channel and if you do, drop in at any time from now for the next 20 years to let me know how the pup is doing. I’m Steven - thanks for joining the family 💙🧡❤️
Great information, we trained our spaniel to the whistle when he was a puppy and its amazing how he will respond to that. Its like instinct to react to the whistle. Havent done the other commands by whistle but wish we had, the stop one is very useful if you can get it to work. We use the command Wait and he does stop for that so we are lucky. We drove our neighbours mad whistling the puppy up and down the garden but he loved it.
@@KH-gn3xb thanks for watching and thanks for the kind words. It’s fascinating that certain breeds are more in tune to it - although almost all the dogs I’ve worked with do respond to the whistle, some will absolutely love the sound and love the challenge it presents. Elsa, the red working cocker I walked up until recently, was definitely one of these dogs. I wonder if you did anything in addition to what I spoke about? Thinking on my feet is getting trickier in my old age. Please feel free to prompt me if you did… Love that you drove your neighbours a bit mad but all worth it for the results when out and about. Good work 💙🧡❤️
Great video. Probably the first time I've seen someone training with terriers. Coincidentally, I'm sure, others seem to use labradors, golden retrievers or border collies. I like the way you make clear training isn't done in ten minutes.
@@GrahamJones-t7z thought you might like the little short video I made on this. Love that the terriers (I walk 4 Border Terriers, 1 Jack Russell, 1 Westie) all respond to the whistle too. Thanks very much for watching and the kind words. I was actually a little worried the timescale to improve this would put people off. Nice to hear what you’ve said on this. Thanks. Steven 💙🧡❤️
