@@MordorGundogs22 Thank you. I know you can get different presumably pitched whistles, would the same whistle work for a Cocker and Springer ?

I like your videos but I have a 9 month old Labrador which is proving a job to train and I have 5 labs before can you do some videos with labs please thank you.

This is really good and so clear. Great clarity over body language that I will share with family that gets a point over better than I have been able too.

Hi Charlie, I’m finding your videos really clear and sensible. (Also very human) Thank you. I have a 6 month old chocolate lab. 1. Could you do a video on a Labrador about that age and what we should be able to expect from them! 2. I see that you don’t seem to use food rewards in your videos. Do you never use them? Many thanks

Most labs will do anything for food so easily trained (had lots of labs) but better NOT to use food if you can. Focus on hand signals, whistle & lots of praise 👍

Really enjoying these videos - thank you. It is so good to see the stages and processes of teaching the dog - almost all of the other trainers on here just show the finished product and how brilliant their dogs are. That is no help to those of us trying to teach our dogs as invariably there are many moments when it doesn't go exactly to plan! Please keep showing how you do corrections when they are needed.

Super helpful thank you. My last springer really did go deaf, not pretend deaf. We had some problems but you are right that body language guidance from us helped a whole lot.

I've recently lost a Cocker, in her latter years she became deaf. I'm trying to incorporate this with my Springer and it really does work. Adding the whistle in will start over the next few weeks after she recovers from being spayed.

I'm starting to really like these cocker spaniels thanks to this channel. Most people select large dogs for hunting where I live, so I've never seen these cockers actually at work before. They seem delightful.
I currently have a little duck tolling retriever, and might have to consider a little upland bird dog to complete the hunting pack!

Have you got a video on teaching the spaniel to heel. I train in the yard and she is good, however when we go out to the woods she forgets. She is 22 weeks now.

Really enjoying your videos. Im bringing up a working golden retriever puppy who could potentially be high energy.
I've really enjoyed your common sense approach to dog training. So far all ive implemented from it is the running from your dog and making training into a game where possible.
Im struggling with the moral dilemma of using a slip leash, the internet seems downright against it and believe its outdated and favor positive reinforcement type training.
Would love to know your thoughts on this? Basically at the moment i have to practically bribe my dog to do every action unless theres something she really wants, like attention, or to be let out her crate, her food bowl.

How old is Roe? My springer is just 6 months, haven’t done any whistle training yet, wondering when to start, thinking now. Still working on heel on the lead, he’s getting better but still a bit keen to walk ahead if I go slow. At least only light lead pressure now required to get him back. Trying to build more interest in looking to me rather than the copse full of interesting wildlife.
I think a video that explains all the basic commands and their associated whistles, with some expectations of when we should start training those behaviours would help. You can then link to the other videos that cover each of those behaviours and perhaps spot where gaps in your library need filling.
Great videos, you’re where I go for this stuff.
