For everyone who's mad about this, Mark Zuckerberg had already been to Harvard. He DROPPED out. Didn't flunk or get expelled. He had an idea so he left. He could have easily chosen to stay in harvard and get his degree. I don't see how this reduced the value of a Harvard degree.
Because he didn't do the work or put into the time toward the requirement. Enrolling means nothing. Might as well say that everyone who ever dropped out of Harvard should get retroactive degrees since they could have finished if they wanted (which is speculative in and of itself.) Might as well give him a medal of honor too even though he didn't fight in any war.
Nutty Berries a honorary degree isn't the same thing though. But he can easily breeze through Harvard's Computer Science program if he were to go back to school.
I wouldn't be so sure. Computer Science goes into much more than just creating a website. Quite a bit of it is theoretical, mathematical, and a lot of Science pre coursework. I imagine he could get through it but it isn't easy for anyone. He would hardly "breeze through it." Is Mark even a Programmer or was he just a Steve Jobs type?

Maybe it give them the upper hand among the talent people, but it doesnt change the fact that they are some hardworking and talent people. Sure, their parent are rich and could sent them to better education to prepare for harvard, and that still doesnt change the fact that they gain enough knowledge from those special training and talent enough to go into harvard.

Money in a societal sense has been associated with greed but given a proper context and framework it is a metric to track how much impact a person has had on the world , whether it good or bad , that is subjective but Harvard board and I'm sure many others can agree that Zuckerberg has had a positive impact in shaping our current environment.
This is called an honorary degree, given to a recipient when he/she has done something great and impacted so many. The recipients generally also don't need the degree to advance their careers, so what good would it do for anyone to bribe/coarse their way to getting one.
I suppose you don't ever think of all the jobs hes created, taxes he has paid, future capital expenditures his firm has committed.

Thats (unfortunately) irrelevant. He is getting honorary degree (Steve Jobs, Wozniak, and numerous others receive them). His start was at Harvard ,he developed (or stole/bought) the idea of Facebook. And this is just the way Harvard commemorates him (and trying to get money from him).
